A Fill In MMP

Oooh, those do sound good.

The snow has let up for the moment, but over the next couple of days we’re supposed to get more, maybe another 6 inches, maybe more, hard to tell until it actually falls. It’s not supposed to snow on Christmas itself, but I guess I can safely say it’ll be a white Christmas…though to me technically that means snow has to actually fall on the day itself. But it looks like we’ll have a foot or more on the ground anyway.

I think it’d be more of an insult not to think we’re a bunch of loons, really. g

mmmmmm’s it’s definitely time to get all legal. They’re had enough time to fix this.

Rebo make a whole batch. They’ll keep a couple weeks and go really, really, really good with beerverages. After all, gotta have some NYE munchies too, right?

MinDude who knows. Recipes are made to be played with IMO. Try the garlic and parmesan and report back. We shall await, on pins and needles, the results.

BBBobbio yay for VunderKind comin’ home.

gotti hope DH is better soon and that the money comes through for the mortgage payment.

kai feel better!

All you other sickies, etc. get better/feel better soon.

I got a refund check in the mail from Goody’s Department Store today. A refund check for… get ready… hold on… it’s comin’… wait for it…

$0.01 :dubious:

Yep, y’all are readin’ it right. It’s currently on my fridge so’s I can show it off. I’ll have some checks to deposit in the next couple days and I’ll probably deposit it then just cause.

ems, this has been going on for more than a month, yes? I think Spaz is right- Time to Get Stabby. Which could involve lawyers. Not having heat in December is absolutely unacceptable. Any Business monitoring-organizations you can send a colourful report to? Or anyone higher up in the company you can threaten?

Second load of laundry in, two cushion covers made, and I’m about to freeze spaghetti sauce. This makes up for the lying around on the couch on Monday. The cat is doing it for me. She’s so sweet. After the laundry’s all done, it’s dishwashing, making chocolate peppermint bark, cutting out and sewing two shirts, and cleaning the kitchen up. Very exciting.

Do you guys think my elderly aunt and uncle would like a pair of those… heating thingys filled with rice or barley, for Christmas? The ones you stick in the microwave. They’re coming for Christmas dinner, and I don’t know what to give them.

Only problem is that this is a local company and the Manager is the inept idiot that I was dealing with.

I am English we don’t do lawyers  - besides I can’t afford one and I leave tomorrow to go home. Like I said I can’t fight anymore.

On the plus side Libby the crazy kitty got her stitches out this morning which means the cone is GONE! She was on my bed grooming when I left to come back to work. I think she is happy. She didn’t yell at me to much on the way home from the vet

Good luck getting the heating stuff fixed for good, mmmmmms. That really sucks and is totally unacceptable.

KeithT was away overnight last night for work. So the cat and I had a night to ourselves. It was really exciting, involving much sitting on the couch with the cat on my lap. I know how to live it up when I’ve got the apartment to myself, don’t I?

I’m really getting into pre-vacation mode now and sooooo don’t want to do any work. Bleh.

Idiots-r-us heating will be here between 1 and 5PM today

:: peeks in with bleary eyes :: Four days of straight drinking = dead tired me. Will be back later.

Ah, teens.

We’ve got some painfully boring grunt work that has to be done that we’ve hired some teens to come in and do over the holiday break. And they’re sitting on the other side of my cube wall. So I get to hear their whole conversations.

OMG. Please tell me I was never that self-absorbed, self-important, condescending, arrogant know-it-all. I really think it’s just one of the two, but I just want to go over there and smack her.

My other cube neighbors all have iPods and headphones, one of them even has noise-blocking headphones. I’m really beginning to think that’s an excellent idea.

Well, today was definitely a day from hell at work. I had to do something that required I use 2 different programs - one to build the product (it includes database files and icons, among other things) and the other to take the product and put it into the form for our customer to use. So these programs talk to each other. The second one is fairly new, developed in house, and still a little buggy. The older program is one I use sporadically, so it’s understandable that I might forget some things.

I was having problems - I’d do the conversion, then check the output, only to discover that while the databases transferred, the symbology didn’t, entirely. All of the files were there, but the viewer program wasn’t seeing them. I was asking Dave a few things, since he’s been there forever, and we did a test - I forwarded the original file to him, and he did the conversion. And it worked for him. Perfectly. grrrrrr

Naturally, first thought is that I’ve got a problem with my machine. Easy to determine - I went to another terminal, logged on, and got the same crap. That tells me, it’s not my machine, it’s my network profile. So I email the responsible computer geek who tried to tell me it was some setting I had wrong. OK, how could my wrong settings be on two separate machines?? It didn’t make sense.

About 5 minutes before my quit time, one of the team of geeks (said lovingly - they’re really great guys) came to watch exactly what I was doing. Then he tried a few things, and it still wasn’t working. Then he asked me to put my original work on the common drive so he could mess with it. I did, but I reminded him that when I did that for Dave, everything worked fine. I repeated my suspicion of my profile, then told him it was past my quitting time, and I left.

The plan for tomorrow (barring the geeks figgering it out tonight) is for me to check and double check the original file to ensure it’s complete and correct. Then I’ll put it on a drive that Dave can access, and he’ll do the conversion for me. That works out anyway, because I need him to do QA on the product - this way he’ll be familiar with it.

Still, grrrrr! I fought with that stupid thing for the better part of 5 hours, and didn’t accomplish a thing today. Plus I missed 2 calls from my sweetie. And come to think of it, he hasn’t called to tell me he’s on his way home - hope he’s not still at the office - it’s an hour past quitting time for him.

And it’s time to feed the critters, so off to the kitchen with me. You didn’t have to read this whole post - I just needed to bitch a bit.

<sigh>

Awwwww Moooooom I say you need to be taken out to dinner tonight.

Speakin’ of which, ol’ y’all know who called a little bit ago. Seems he has a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for some babyback ribs from Chili’s. Thus, he proposed I meet him at his place in an hour so’s he can take me to Chili’s then go back to his place and spend the night since where he lives is closer to Chili’s. So, it’s spend the night night at his place. I’ll check his fridge to see if he has breakfast stuff. Knowin’ him he doesn’t so we’ll stop at the store and get some stuff. I’m all sweet like that, makin’ breakfast and all.

Anywho, I won’t be back on tonight, so y’all be sweet!

It’s poke chop night at home tonight. They’re already thawing. And I’m too tired to go out anyway.

I called right after my last post - poor baby was just leaving the center. He’s gonna be pooped, too. That’s the 3rd long day in a row.

Is it Firday yet??

Thanks for reminding me I ran out of beer to feed the beer fridge last night. Must stop on the way home…

Can’t come soon enough. :stuck_out_tongue:

You know the “mesmerizing” thread? A friend just sent me this old saw.

Just made a yummy stir fry for lunch.

Libby is going nuts without the cone. I keep hearing thuds and when I go to investigate she is sitting looking at me with an “it wasn’t me” look on her face.

Must be the ghosties

2.22PM still no idiots-r-us-heating company. Still cold.

3.08PM still no idiots-r-us-heating company.

I am bored. Tied up all my work loose ends before vacation.

Maybes I should finish packing

The couch was clear of books a few minutes ago. Now it’s covered. What happened?
And what do I need to get from the grocery store tomorrow? Besides chips. I want chips.
Leftover spaghetti or scrambled eggs with salsa for dinner tonight. Oh, the decisions.

(This post brought to you by Stream of Conciousness)

mmmmmmmm - good supper - poke chops, N.O.T.-n-onions, lima beans, and white corn. And just enough chocolate cake for a dessert later.

I hate that it’s so dark so early - it feels like bedtime already. At least the solstice is almost upon us. Can extended daylight be far behind??

Well, that’s just silly!

you have no idea how many of our customers call and insist on their 1¢ refund checks

m & m’s–I don’t care that you’re English–do you have a threatening looking friend? Get him over there to wait with you. Is there an owner of the business? How do they stay IN business?
I’ve kind of got my computer thingy figured out–that means I surfed around my desktop, clicking on random, likely looking things. The margins are gone, and I had to go into the Help menu to find “changing icon size on your desktop” and click on that, so the font is bearable now (still bigger).

I’m just going to ignore it and hope it goes away…

Work was interesting*. I saw an anathesiologist be a real SOB for a family of a 4 year old little girl (who has some chronic health issues) after the family had waited patiently for 5 hours (the surgeon was stuck doing emergency surgery at another hospital. Said SOB told the family that they should have taken the child to a different hospital (this is for a minor, routine outpt procedure) and that he “had a mind to cancel the surgery” AFTER the home health nurse, who had come with the family, explained about a piece of equipment. To make this less obscure, but still adhere to HIPPA, let me just say that the equipment is something that every anathesiologist should be familiar with… Surgeon was ok with doing the surgery. Family said that after the SOB spoke to them that way they no longer wanted to have it done here. The surgeon has done surgery for other family members w/o a problem. The problem was the SOB.

and this, folks, is how good revenue is lost… Our NM came down (I thought she was going to yell at me; she was so angry), spoke to the family and gave the mom the hotline number to call to report any abusive behavior etc. Mom called right then, thanked us all (lil guy was such a cutie) and left. Unbelievable…
Off to bed soon, as I have to get up at 0430 tomorrow. I’m tired already.

*salient details of this story have been changed. No, I’m not going to tell you which ones!

Home. Wrapping presents. Hugs. Heat yet, ems? Back later.
