I don’t see one yet, so here goes. Who knows! Is somebody else also startin’ a MMP thread? Excitatin’ ain’t it!
On the weather front, ‘tis 75 degrees Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 95. We are also promised rain startin’ today and through tomorrow. We shall see.
Now I must find more caffiene, feed rumbly tummy and alas, purtify for irk.
Happy Monday Y’all!
Let the hijacks begin!
ETA: Looks like I am the first, so, First with the MMP!
Gigablurf. 'Tis an awesome thunderboomer to not only wake me up at 0130, but keep me awake for more than an hour. We wound up with a local flash flood warning before it was done.
My givadammer is still broken. This is a short week for me, cuz I go on vacation Thursday.
I am at irk and irked. I suppose I should be grateful that I still have a job in which to be irked. That may not be the case for much longer. Time to dust off the CV and get it tarted up a bit.
Morning. I am having the dreaded teeth work today. Two crowns and a few fillings. All under sedation, or it wasn’t going to happen.
I have been scared to pieces these past few weeks that my other tooth was going to crumble. I’ve eaten only really soft things. I am scared to have the procedure done, but ready to not be afraid of my teeth breaking. Wish me luck!
I took the backlog of the Weekly Local Liberal Rag out of the drawer of the entertainment center and sorted them by date so I can do the crosswords in the back. One of them is missing the front and back pages, so that’s one puzzle I won’t be able to do because I can’t get the answers for it. I really need to get a crossword book. My mom’s old boxes of them have long since gone to the Land of Wind and Ghosts.
Four days until the locusts swarm…er, I mean Bele Chere. Computer Boy wants to go. He shall go alone as both Culinary Boy and I have issues with large crowds of people.
Good morning from Albuquerque NM once more. Boy howdy did we have some t-boomers last night, and got quite a bit of rain too (well, quite a bit for ABQ, that is).
BooFae, keeping you in my thoughts for a new job.
Today will bring more exploration of Albuquerque. The more we explore, the more we get to know it here! My plants seems to be doing okay, so far. LOL In recent years, my green thumb hasn’t been very … green.
Hope everyone has a great week! It’s the last of July, so summer is 2/3’s over.
This Sunday I got up to go to Mass and found my car window wouldn’t roll up. Sigh. It’s always something.
On Saturday I went to a farm auction and bought a hand-stitched quilt in the Flower basket pattern, two cast iron skillets and two kerosene lamps. There was an old oak Murphy bed that went for $1100.
SpazCat - USAToday has their puzzles online. You can print them out or do them on your computer. No more saving papers!
I hear that. Everyone says how great the state fair is, but… I just can’t do it. We went once, and I spent the whole time just wanting to flee.
I made maple bacon ice cream yesterday. (Technically, that’s frozen custard, not ice cream. Just to be clear.) That’s some good stuff. Especially when made with made-by-a-friend Wisconsin maple syrup.
I also made brioche on Friday and then turned it in to Smitten Kitchen’s creme brulee french toast on Saturday morning. I’d skip the creme brulee part next time. The french toast was good, but it didn’t need the crunchy sugar topping. I liked baking it though. That’s way easier than standing over a griddle, cooking two pieces at a time!
I also tried carrot-and-zucchini latkes. I didn’t get enough of the water out so they didn’t hold together and were more like carrot-and-zucchini hash browns. But the flavor was good. That went with the rabbit that KT braised for us. It was from the farmers’ market. Good stuff.
And Saturday we went out to my favorite Italian restaurant. They had the crab lasagna that I love. We ate well this weekend.
Ack! We’ve had 18 hours of summer so far. That is, temps over 75°F. Yesterday was beautiful, today, now, at noon it’s 58°. I’m sick of this!
I know I shouldn’t complain. The rest of the country is sweltering and I’m “enjoying” spring-like temps. But, I’m NOT! Enjoying, that is.
Carry on.
It cooled down today, finally, after a two week heat wave. I mean, pretty bad - we get hot weather, but this was in the high 90s with the heat index over 105 every day. Not unbearable except for the humidity.
On Saturday it reached the high point and Sunday morning at 2:30 am (luckily we were still awake) every one of our smoke alarms went off. Turns out high heat and humidity can set off your smoke alarms. Who knew?
