First, a shoulder and a {{{{{{Kai}}}}}}; I too wish that I had more to offer. I’m thinking of you, though, and will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Maybe the light would help some?

Thanks, CutiePie, for any recipe assistance. There’s something about pecan pie baking that somehow scares me. At least I am familiar with my oven and know how it bakes.

I too am up in the middle of the night–I’m on a weird sleep schedule once again. Last night, I “napped” from 8 until 1:30, then couldn’t get back to sleep; tonight, it was from 9 until 1. Gah! I’m going to try to get back to sleep shortly.

Ta for now, at least it’s Firday finally!!

kai, I know how you’re feeling. Especially today. I’ve been off of the antidepressant for about 1 1/2 weeks and not on the lithium long enough, so I’ve spent the morning crying for no good reason. I was wondering, though, if it is possible to contact the drug manufacturer and get the drug that works better for you for free. Most drug companies have assistance programs like that. If you’d like to commiserate, or have some help researching this, just contact me by PM and I’d be happy to help.
**
herbs**, I’m at work now. I’ll see what recipes I’ve got.

Here is my chef’s Pecan Pie filling recipe. This makes two 9 inch pies.

2 oz flour
2 oz granulated sugar
3 lb corn syrup
1 lb eggs
1 tsb vanilla
.25 oz salt
8 oz butter, melted
8 oz pecans

Mix flour, sugar, and corn syrup together. Whip together eggs, vanilla, salt, and butter and add to the first mixture.

Place 4 oz of pecans in each unbaked pie shell.

Pour filling mixture over pecans.

Bake at 325F until done.

As I was typing this just now, I realized that it’s not exactly user friendly for a home kitchen unless you happen to have a scale. Sorry about that.

I’ll post the chocolate pecan pie recipe later.

░░FIRDAY!\

Ah, the weekend is almost here, today is a half day, and a decent lunch with beer and prizes 'n stuff is in the offing. Today is a good day. Mind you one of my cow-orkers – my immediate supervisor – doesn’t go. He’s a Jehovah’s Witness, which apparently precludes him from engaging in anything Christmassy. I know it’s his choice and his religion, but I can’t help but feel bad, especially since he’ll end up sticking around here 'til 2pm or so, working while the rest of us mugs are merry-making and stuffing our faces.

Still gotta pick up a few last minute Christmas and gift cards after work but that’s nothing major. Christmas plans have finally been settled amongst MindWife’s family members after a few weeks of “Well, we’ll have it over at brother 1’s place one day and mom’s place the next – wait, no, we’ll do lunch at mom’s place then dinner at bro’s place – oh! No, hang on. Why don’t we just do it all at mom’s place? But then she wants us to come over the night before and spend the night, and…” Ugh. We finally wrangled it so it’s all at her mom’s place and she’ll pick us up the morning of. As it has been for the last decade, so it shall be again.

Roo - Well, I try not to unleash it too often. I don’t like to showboat – and anyway, it’s like Christmas; it’s only as special as it is because it comes round so infrequently, but when it does, it lasts a good while and leaves everyone with a smile.

Hey – I know that look. Your mind is in the gutter again. Honestly, you’ll turn the most innocent statements into something dirty…

Morning, all. Off to work soon. Overslept, but I’m ok for time. #2 son must let himself in the house, alone, today. Am a bit weirded out by that. Daughter will be home about an hour after he gets home, but still, he’s never let himself into an empty house. DCSF would have a field day… (he’s 9 1/2). We’ve gone through how to use his key etc; he is to call me as soon as he gets in. I’m sure it’ll be ok, but. BUT. I’m a mom.

Off to work with my own version of Tin Knickers. According to her, same day surgery is just soooo busy and hard to juggle. Hey, we have our moments, but this is a cakewalk compared to what I came from. I tend to not say anything when she starts in on how hard we work and how “everything” is done by SDS. God, she’s a PITA.

Mindfield: LOVE the tree! Am wearing my Santa hat today for fun.

Wow - what a purty tree! Happy Firday!

{{{Kai}}} I wish there was something more I could do for you.

{{{HUGS}}} for the rest of the MMP, too.

I marathon shopped and gift-wrapped yesterday, and I am done!!! I ended up finding a few things for my husband - nothing special unfortunately. I got him a new Key Map and a dremel tool and attachments - stuff he asked for. I also got him some South Park boxers that say “Ho Ho! Ho!” He loves new boxers. And a beautiful warm denim shirt. I hope he loves it.

So the rest of the weekend will be cleaning the house, and grocery shopping. And maybe some more decorating. I am not crafty at all, but I went by Michael’s and bought a small styrofoam cone and I already had a bunch of tiny ornaments that I’m gonna glue on. A baby tree! If it sucks, I won’t be out much…

It’s chilly here today, but the sun is out and it supposed to warm up to the mid-70’s. I do not envy anyone’s snow, but the pictures are bee-yoo-tee-ful!

Did y’all see I won the Trivial Feud thread? w00t!

Mornin’ Y’all! Ugh! I finally went sleepy-bye around three a.m. So, what am I doin’ up you ask? I have no idea. I’m caffienatin’ though so maybe I can function. I got lasagna to make today. We have two friends comin’ over for dindin, so I’m doin’ lasagna, sallit and garlic bread. Then we’re goin’ on our annual pilgrimage to see all the purty Crimmus lights. The local park has a really good light display plus there are some houses that are always done up. ‘Tis fun to do this. Tomorrow, ol y’all know who is leavin’ out to go spend a few days with his family. He’ll come back on Thursday. I’m goin’ up on Christmas Eve to hang with my family and will come back home on Wednesday.

Ok, more caffiene needed. Back Later.

Bye Y’all!

Happy Friday, everyone! More or less. kai, darling, come and vent here all you like. We all care. ((((kai)))). I’ll be praying for you over Christmas.
Awesome tree, Mork. I hope the weekend temperatures will suit you? They’re my special Christmas present to the Canadian Cold-Hater. I do hope we get some snow on Monday, though. Last year’s rain was annoying.

Up and off to work. I’m glad Christmas is almost over. I’ll be glad when Firday is over.

{{{{kai}}}} and more hugs to all suffering from the holiday blues. From what I read, it’s the rare person who IS happy during this time. I do alright until they are over and then I get the “melancholy” to use an old-fashioned term.

mork, you are amazing! Love the tree. Makes me feel like singing whatever that song is that the Whos sing around their tree.

rebo, congrats on your win!

I am bolting early today so I can get my hairs cut and stop by the vets for some more advantage. The fleas! They are horrible this year! :stuck_out_tongue:

Tupug

{{{kai}}} We’re here for you with our virtual shoulders. Come and talk to us whenever you need and as much as you need. That goes for you too, McUne.

I got an email today with falling panties in it. For some reason I found that to be incredibly funny.

I’ve discovered the good part of having 2 bosses - they each get you Xmas prezies! Yay for gift cards!

I got all of the presents ready to pack to go to Mom and Dad’s. I’ll have to wrap them there because I don’t want to take the chance that the TSA would not be able to see what’s in them and unwrap them. So Christmas Eve will be wrapping day.

Work Xmas party tonight. I have a cute little red dress. I hope it doesn’t snow! And that I don’t freeze my tuckus off. The food sounds delish. And KeithT now knows enough of my coworkers from other get togethers that he should enjoy himself too. I work with a good group of people and we all actually like each other so outside-of-work social engagements are actually fun. Or will be if I don’t freeze.

I still kind of want to make some truffles tomorrow before we leave. Would that be incredibly stupid to try to add to the schedule? We have to pack, show the cat sitter where everything is and what has to be done, and generally get ready for travel. And it’s my birthday so I should do some fun stuff. Hmm… but if truffle-making counts as fun stuff, I should be able to include it, right?

Not a coincidence. The space station story is the excuse that The Guvmint uses when the aliens do their flybys to take pictures.

Well, I’m off for the rest of the day. I hope all of you are doing beter, and have a Merry Christmas. I’ll talk to y’all on Wednesday.

Maybe they can recommend a medicated shampoo so you won’t itch so bad Puggy. Oh like you didn’t think I’d comment. :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh and sing along with the Whos!

Lasagna is made and mellowing in the fridge. I like for it to set (sit?) for a few hours before baking. Kinda gets all the flavors mixed up real good. MMMMMM… can’t wait!

Ya know, I didn’t sleep well last night, so I was kinda all blah and groggy when I went in the kitchen to get started. Nuttin’ like a few cloves of smashed garlic to wake ya up.

Morning, all. I’ve been up for a long time, but am apparently going into my annual Christmas funk, too, and really haven’t felt sociable. No particular reason, just the whole festive season thing in general. I prefer my festivity unplanned, I guess, instead of scheduled and dictated.

Anyway, {{{kai}}}. We’re here to listen any time, you know that. And I third the vote for the full-spectrum light. And also, you should talk to your doctor about seeing if the pharmaceutical company will provide you the medicine you can’t afford. They all have programs that do that, but I believe your doctor has to be the one to request it for you. Good luck!

And {{{hugs}}} to any other Mumpers who need one. It seems like the older I get, the more I realize the holidays are more stressful than fun for SO (N.O. SO.) many people. I think without little kids at home getting all excited, it really does take a lot of the anticipation out of it.

One of these days I’ve got to go out and see the space station when it passes overhead. The D.C. NBC weatherman always announces when and where it’ll be visible, and last night on the 11:00 news he even had a time lapse photo someone had taken of it. I used to be able to see a geosynchronous communications satellite regularly when I lived in Texas – the light reflecting off the huge solar panels made it visible almost every night at a certain time – but I’ve not seen the space station. One of these days.

I should get back to work, because then I need to run a couple of last-minute errands. And then crawl back into my little nest here and not go anywhere for a few days!

I read this and meant to comment before. Mr. Anachi and I have seen it, too, and it is exactly how you describe it. It really books it! Mr. Anachi gets the schedule from NASA of when we can see it which is quite often actually.

 Serves me right for not thinkin’ that one through. :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

Woo-hoo! Mr. Lissar just got his performance review, and his largeish bonus will be coming in either at New Year’s or the payroll after that. And he got a 3% raise. Good stuff.
Ow. My throat hurts. The Cold Won’t Go Away. More tea.

Yay for Mr. Lissar’s bonus and raise! Baby needs new… lots of stuff!

I am hongry! The sammich I et before nap time is not stickin’ with me. Think I’ll eat an apple. Just don’t wanna spoil my appetite for nummy lasagna. MMMMMMM…

Home - they gave us 59 minutes, so Happy Firday All!!!

First load of jeans is in the wash. I need to empty, then refill the dishwasher, wrap 2 last gifts, start loading the van, do some more laundry, pack our bags, water my plants, and try to crash by 8-ish. **FCD ** wanted to leave around midnight. I told him I could make 3, but not before. So we shall see. I can’t sleep in a moving vehicle, and there’s no way I can get even a power nap in order to hit the road at midnight. He claims he’d be good for 5 ot 6 hours of driving - yeah, right…. So anyway, we’ll try to sleep early and hit the road early.

He also said something about bathing the dogs. Yeah, right - nothing like waiting till the last minute. He couldn’t have done it last weekend. Sheesh! I think I talked him out of it, but I’m not betting the rent.

Dunno how much more I’ll be able to post today, but chances are I won’t be back on line till late Weds or Thurs after work. So don’t fret if you don’t see me. My inlaws have dial-up, so I’m not too likely to get on line there. If I do, I’ll post to let you know I’m alive.

And if I don’t get back (or even if I do) I hope the blues pass and you all have a nice few days ahead. Try to chill and wind back the expectations. Or maybe make a Martha Stewart voodoo doll - she and her ilk are responsible for too much holiday stresses! A pox upon her!!! :stuck_out_tongue:

And for all my favoritest mumpers (that would be all of you)

{{{{{Mumpers}}}}}
