A Fill In MMP

Well, you folks are on it early. Swampy, I think the boyfriend stirred when you sang that (he’s still in bed asleep)!

Thanks!

Happy birthday, scout and taxi!
Merry Christmas/Hannukah/Kwanzaa/Eid/Feast of Maximum Occupancy, everyone!
Some time today I have to clear up the post-party mess. Envy me. Aside from that, it’ll be a quiet day. We’ll go to Mass tonight so we can sleep in tomorrow morning.

Morning, all. I slept really badly last night, so Papa Tigs kindly let me sleep in. It’s nice sometimes not to have to get up to let the Idiots out.

Sounds like everyone is getting ready to go off to do holiday-ish stuff. I suppose that means it’ll be quiet around here. ::sniffle:: Oh well, those of us who are stay-at-homes will just have to keep each other company, I guess.

Trust me, LiLi, after tinyninjachef’s arrival, you will find yourself leaving parties when it’s barely gotten dark out. Parenthood does tend to destroy the last illusions of one’s carefree party-till-the-sun-comes-up days. Fortunately, it brings other rewards.

Papa Tigs just headed out with the Idiots for a nice walk. Well, until they reach their destination – the vet’s office a few blocks up the street, where they’ll get a claw trimming. Rusty won’t mind, but Isaac hates having his claws trimmed. He doesn’t get a vote, however, The trick is finding someone who can do it without him totally freaking; such people have been few and far between. Fortunately, this vet’s office has a young man who’s large enough that Isaac doesn’t even try to intimidate him (not that he’s exactly intimidating to begin with, being a lab), so it works out well. For us, if not for Isaac.

Merry/Happy/Good Christmas/Hannukkah/Eid/Kwanzaa/Festivus/whatever from me, too!

Made it home safely as did all the Christmas presents I was carrying.

I got to San Fransisco and British Airways upgraded me to business

So all in all it was a rather plesant flight. Good job as with delays we were on the damn plane for 11 hours.

We circled above London for about 20 mins then we go into land, wheels come down then suddenly we are going up again!

Pilot gets on the PA “Sorry about that folks but the plane in front of us was to slow clearing the runway”

But we made it after flying halfway across the UK and back again  then my last flight was delayed an hour.

But I made. My Dad looks great - doing really well with is new hip. Back to normal other than bending down to pick something up off the floor they recommended another few weeks before he does that.

I bawled at the airport I was so happy to be home.

Yay for carseats LiLi

Happy Birthday Scout and Taxi!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SCOUT AND TAXI!

Whew! Yesterday was a busy day, and the weekend promises to be no less busy.

Yesterday’s shopping expedition for Mr. Taters prezzie proved fruitless. I went to four different stores, two of them in Tacoma. I am highly disappointed.

It is pouring down rain here. Today, we will have to go out in this mess and do some more shopping. I still have to wrap presents too. Tomorrow, I pick up the prime rib roast and the rest of the groceries. In between all of this I have to clean.

Those are my exciting plans for the weekend. I know you all envy me.

My office Christmas party was kind of “meh”. The place we ordered food from screwed up our order. They didn’t the corn muffins or the sides. So, by the time the sides arrived, everyone had already eaten the meat (pulled pork, buns, beef brisket, and ribs), and nobody really wanted anything else. I didn’t mind so much, but some of the people were a little rude about it. Then, one of our command group people showed up and stayed the whole time. We were all hoping to get out by 2:30, but it was closer to 3:45 by the time we got out of there. Oh well, it’s over and done with for another year. I hope they vote to go OUT next year. That’s what I wanted to do and voted for.

I need to finish my coffee and get cleaned up.

Dangit! I missed the edit window. I wanted to say thanks for the movie review Haze. I’m sure **Mr. Taters ** and I will be going to see it.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SCOUT AND TAXI!

Okay. This morning is cold. The whole hotel apparently has stayed in bed, because it’s 6F out there right now. I only wish I could have!

Hippo birdie taxi & scout! Joyeaux Solstice to the rest of you!

MMMMMM’s glad you made it to Merrye Olde England ok and that your dad is doing well. YAY!!!

In other news, ol’ y’all know who decided to wait til tomorrow to take off for west Alabammy. YAY!!! Thus, we’ve been just hangin’ out at da cave today and errr… never y’all mind!

I got steaks thawed out for dindin. Steak and sallit sounds good tonight. Also, there’s some chilled champagne cause I got me a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for a mimosa or three. Plus, mimosas and a hot tub…

Hello, all. Hippo Birdies Two Ewes, Taxi!
I came home from work to find HP5 on my doorstep. So, we watched it last night. I am still irritated by several things in the film: the made up kid–why not use Colin Creevy or another minor character? The over-acting done by Emma Watson in the first part of the film. The lack of culmination scene between AD and HP near the end–it was lame. But the DA is awesome, as is the fight in the Ministry. Kreacher doesn’t look like what I thought him to be, but… Anyway, I am now reading Deathly Hallows, and then I’ll be done.

The grocery store was madness, even at 0900. But I am DONE now, and just finished making my last batch of cookies. Not much going on here today–I’m watching all our lovely snow melt away. :frowning: It is supposed to snow 3 inches tomorrow, so that’s good.

Hope all are fine here. Toodles.

I called my mom a little bit ago. Ah mothers! At the ripe old age of 53 she can still make me go “mooooooooooooooom!!!”

She’s been baking. I’m talkin’ LiLi on crack style bakin’ here folks! She told me that since it’s been rainy and damp and all the past couple of days, she decided to do some baking. Herewith is what some baking means…

Pecan Brittle
Fudge (peanut butter and chocolate)
Peanut butter balls
Coconut balls
Oatmeal/raisin cookies
Red Velvet cake
Coconut cake
Chocolate cake
German Chocolate cake
Rum/Pecan Glazed Pound cake (Killer! That glaze seeps down into the cake and it’s a high you would not believe!)
Pecan pie
Sweet Potato pie
Fried Apple pies (“I just made a few”, which, in Momguage means a bazillion)

And she’s upset! She’s upset because she wants to make divinity but can’t unless the weather clears up. Those in the know know that the weather must be clear and cool to make divinity.

:dubious:

“But really”, says Mom, “I’m not doing all that much!”

Oh, and she’s only going to have (seriously, she said it just that way) ham, chicken pie, dressing, turnip greens, squash, green beans, homemade cranberry sauce, corn, fried okra (we’re southern after all!) and OG ONLY KNOWS what she ain’t told me, for dinner on Christmas.

Mom, I love ya to itty bitty bits, but get outta the kitchen already!

Happy Birthday scout and** taxi**!!!

TVMan and I have been lazy most of the day. I’ve already taken two naps and I’m thinking about what I want for dinner now that swampy has made me hungry with his list of mom’s cooking.

Someday I will buy HP5, rigs. I don’t know what I’m waiting for, really. I have an amazon gift certificate. Maybe I’ll do that today.

I thought I posted this morning!

Happy Birthday, Scout and Taxi!!!

So we went to get the tiller this morning. Pretty good deal - 3 yrs old and has been sitting all that time. (It seems Grandma’s husband bought it for $900, and had a stroke right after he bought it. He’s better now, but can’t use the tiller.) We got it for $100!

It was fun taking a little road trip - we hardly ever get to see each other anymore! We took Ernie and Lucy, too. But Ernie had the farts! Arggh! It was tres disgusting. And funny!

This afternoon I ran a few errands, and picked up my McD’s gift certificates. I located this homeless couple I’ve seen around and about. They have a little “place” near this defunct fitness center. I drove up to them, and they had Christmas music playing, and a lighted wreath! It was awesome. It felt good to give them the coupons. McD’s is just a block away from them, too. They told me, “God bless you!” It felt good, but I was all emotional. I was embarassed, and sweaty, and about to cry, and just all mixed up. I only stayed long enough to get out of my car, hand them the coupons, and tell them what the coupons were. And I said “Merry Christmas” after they told me “God bless you.” Why did I feel so weird? Oh, well…

Dad is taking us out to dinner tonight. Steak, baby! Yum! And I don’t have to cook.

Gotta go get a load of clothes out of the dryer.

See ya!

*Happy Birthday, scout and taxi!*

Tired - went to library, went to Whole Foods, picked up really over-priced food (the only reason I went was to buy a DivaCup, and sorry guys but I can’t be bothered to spoiler that bit of TMI), got complimented by the cashier, staggered home, now am sitting on sofa in undies and contemplating dinner.

Except for the baking bit, swampy, I totally understand “Mooooooooooooooom!” (and not just when talking to FCM). It doesn’t matter how old you, or they, get, I think.

Can you send me some of her food?

Steak and sallit good! Mimosas good! Mimosas and hot tub, about to be good!

I dunno Swampy, Mom’s place sounds good to me.

Lil’ Miss Bus Kid and the BF are here ALL WEEKEND. Oy. He’s going to the football game with me tomorrow, it’s going to be farging cold.

We just had some yummy pasta and garlic bread, and I’m resting up before we go out to see a friend play a local establishment of beerverages and music.

My shoulder officially hurts. X-rays came back, and Doc Beth wants me to see an ortho, because she said ‘this looks like rotator cuff…’ Oy.

I feel like Tevya. (sp?) Oy.

Well, phooey! I was majorly unsucessful in obtaining **Mr. Taters ** gift. I hate, hate, hate when the web sites/stores don’t keep up with each other. I thought I had finally snagged the gift, and was about to order and was going to drive 25 miles to get it, when I thought, “Self, you should call down there and make sure it’s really there”. So, I called, and they were all out.

DAMN IT! Why is this thing such a hot item. So, no one has any, I’ve been to a multitude of stores, and I’m left to ordering it on line for delivery well after Christmas. I feel so disappointed and so badly that I won’t have it for him.

We went and bought my gift today. I got a nice digital camera. It’s not an SLR but it has more than eight megapixels and 10X zoom, low light picture capability, Carl Zeiss lens, and image stabilization. There are other things, but I can’t remember them. It was more than I wanted him to spend. I was looking at a little $150.00 camera and would have been content with it. While we were there, we picked up a TV antenae (rabbit ear kind) for a gal my husband works with. She’s a single mother, struggling to make ends meet every month. She mentioned to my husband that she didn’t have TV, so they just watch videos (mainly kiddy videos for her kids). She can’t afford the extra for cable, so my husband thought this would a nice little surprise for her. We dropped it off and set it up. Some of the channels still aren’t all that great, but she does get decent reception on a couple of them. She’s going to play with it some more.

I guess I should see about some kind of dinner.

Oy. Hope it’s not something that requires surgery, MBG. Remembered earlier that I forgot to wish BusWife a happy birthday yesterday. So,

Happy Birthday, BusWife!!!

How many hundreds of people is you Mom feeding, swampy?

Making up a character in HP5 really bugged me too, rigs.

Sorry about the present-buying travails, Taters. But nice to hear about the antenna for Mr. Taters’s co-worker.

Good on you for dropping off the gift certificates, Rebo. What a kind gesture!

I got most of my Christmas cards done and sent. A few will be late. Need to do a few e-mails tomorrow, too.

Now it’s time to clean up my Christmas wrap and card mess, make sure I have all my presents wrapped, and do some general cleaning.

But what I really want to do is be lazy and watch a movie. Maybe I can do both. Some of my mess is in the living room, where the TV is.

Further reports later…
