A Fill In MMP

Happy Monday! It’s been a cold but sunny day, and I actually accomplished something at the office. Last week, I was forwarded an email asking “who is the expert on <insert my specialty here>?” and I replied saying “ME!!” OK, not exactly those words, but I did establish last week that I was the person who could handly the inquiry. Today about 10:30, I heard back from the guy - he had half a dozen generic questions about something I’d researched.

I got on line and happened to find some updated info from this past weekend, and I dug into my old electronic files to get some specific data to address the questions. It took me about 2 hours or so of compiling, composing, and considering (poetical, ain’t it?? ) and when I was finally satisfied, I zapped the reply to him about 1PM. Thirty minutes later, I got his reply, which began (and I quote) “WOW!”

Yep, I done good. And I had the foresight to make sure my liaison officer was a copy to addressee, so he got to see the response. Nothing like giving the customer more than he asks for and having him get all happy about it. I’m hoping this’ll lead to some more queries, 'cause I know this stuff, and I’m good at it. Talk about job satisfaction! I’m really not bragging. It’s just that lately, it’s been rare that I get to do something I’ve been trained to do and that I’ve put a lot of time into. So it’s been a good Monday.

After work, I went to the new credit union office (fancy-schmancy) to deposit the $25.50 in assorted rolled coins. The nice teller lad informed me that in the future, I could just bring my coinage in and their machine would sort and count it. So much for the relaxing, theraputic value of counting out thousands of pennies… :stuck_out_tongue: But that’s good to know. We don’t accumulate a whole lot of coins, but when we eventually have a substantial pile, I know what to do.

Then there was the fun of homecoming and taking the doggies out to do their respective duties. Idiot Bernie went among the trees to poo (good doggie) then decided to run farther into the trees (bad doggie) just to mess with me. I almost caught up with her when she plopped down to roll in something - idiot dog! Fortunately, it wasn’t a wet or sticky something - she just had some leaf fragments in her coat. And this is all a game to her. She makes me come after her, then she gets all happy-to-see-ya as she bounds back towards the house. You’d think at 13, she’d grow up - sheesh!

Now, before I forget - welcome to the MMP newbies! I can’t think of a clever nickname for either of you - all my brainage was used up at the office. Like you care. Glad ta meet ya! Feel free to share or not, hijack or not, be serious or not. That’s what it’s all about.

Last and certainly not least:
Happy B-day to my Favorite Bus Dude!!!

Lord love a duck. We’re usually only this busy during the spring, and I’ve gotten more calls from end users today than I got all last week. Is it possible to get cauliflower ear from excessive use of telephone headsets? At least I have refrained from snorting again.

Someone brought in a big tin of Quality Street chocolates for everyone to partake of. Is it me, or are they kind of … well … not as good as I remember them? The chocolate tastes weird. It’s kind of … um … fruity. I don’t know any other way to describe it; there’s a kind of fruity sweetness about it, rather like the aforementioned Flake bars. Is this an English thing? 'Cos it’s only in these UK imports that I seem to taste that vaguely fruity type of chocolate. It’s not unpleasant, but it’s not the kind of high quality chocolate I was expecting from a $20 tin of assorted choccies. I can only assume that, in the UK, Quality Street does not intersect with High Street.

Swampus/Factoid/Puggy - Aw shucks, thank y’all.

Mom - Do they charge for that change counting thingy? 'Cos we have those Coinstar things over here installed in various supermarkets and such, but they take a healthy cut of the money they count.

Ah, but the secret to Coinstar is that instead of opting for cash back, thereby letting them take a healthy cut, you opt to receive a gift certificate to one of your favorite retailers. My retailer of choice is Amazon. And then you get credit for the full value of your coins; the retailer pays the Coinstar fee over. Last time I took my change in, I got a $72 gift certificate to Amazon. Can you spell h-a-p-p-y?

Poor Papa Tigs is just not feeling good today. To the point where he didn’t even want to take the Idiots out. So I just froze my tuchus off sitting in the yard throwing the Kong. Envy me my exciting life.

Back to the salt mines.

**Mork ** - in the credit union, it isn’t Coinstar - it’s a coin counting machine for us members! So no fee or any of that silliness.

MamaTigs, I let my idiots out just as a couple of neighbors were walking their collies (purty doggies!!) Bernie, of course, immediately melted down, then Scruffy had to join in on the noise. Both ladies expressed surprise that we had dogs - I mentioned that we kept them indoors because they’re escape artists. Then they continued walking, and my morons started following along the fence, barking away. I managed to snag Bernie’s collar and drag her back, and the Scruffster followed as soon as she realized that we’d deserted her. She’s not the smartest of canines. Anyway, I’m frosted, and they’re both crashed on the floor.

I think I just had supper - some popcorn and some water. I’m not all that hungry, and **FCD ** isn’t home yet (he had to go to PA today) so rather than cook real food, I did the popcorn thing. I’ll feed him when he gets here. Cause I’m nice, dammit. Plus I should be thawed by then.

Oh crap!

I’m so sorry! And I’m just getting in here. My bad bad bad…

Ok - back to read the MMP - Thanks Swampy!

Nava!! ::runs to Nava… kisses and hugs:: Welcome back… we missed you!!!

OK… I admit it; this was just an excuse for that kiss and hug

Hope you can shake that cold. And **Rigs **and Lili, too.

**SnowBunny **-- I’m with you. YAY SNOW!!! Now why don’t I have any, huh!? Oh, right… I live nearly in the desert…

**Cutie **-- what happened to the lettuce? How many heads of lettuce would that have to be left out in the cold?

Had the weirdest thing happen to me earlier – I was discussing coffee for some reason in e-mail. I use Gmail, which has Google Ads (like the ones here) on the side bar. Sure enough, I startd seeing coffee adds. Including one for… Hazel Nut Coffee

Speaking of whom – where is Haze?

I took coins to a Coinstar last week. I just don’t have the enthusiasm necessary to roll $45 worth of pennies and nickels.

That is the coolest cake ever, Mork!

Happy Birthday, MBG!!!

Cool, Mom! That must feel really good!

Happy snow to those who ahve it and want it. It got down to about 34° here last night, but it is a pleasant 60° now. I love this weather.

I’m really sorry about forgetting the MMP. I was watching Survivor for three hours last night, and I’m swamped (N.O.S.) here at work. This is the first time I’ve been in here!

And we are not saccharine and sweet in here. 'Cept when we have cake and cookies and chocolate and stuff.

Welcome, Newbies! Stick around a while! We’re not always nice…

Ya know, I don’t believe ANY day of my life has EVER started with $50 worth of lettuce–cold or warm or in between. I must not be doing something right…
Off to pick up #2 son that is the madness of post-orchestra carpooling.

And I took a nap. I feel much better. I am so ready for the nursing home routine, it’s sad.

I HATE salad. Hate hate hate.

I guess I was exaggerating. It was 19lbs of assorted lettuce, spinach, romaine, iceberg, spring mix. Totalling $30. Although picking through lettuce to find enough that wasn’t frozen took one of my employees about 2 hours. So, yep, there’s the other $20. It was about a 50/50 split where blame is assigned. Fifty percent is mine, the other half is Mother Nature. I was grocery shopping during the blizzard yesterday. It was about 34F degrees and I figured it would stay there. So I left it all in my car and when I woke up this morning it was 27F. That F is for frozen lettuce. Oh well. We had enough for the day. That’s the most important thing.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MR. BUS GUY!!!

Woo hoo, Monday! laughs Well, I’ve got some of my grocery shopping done, but not all. I’ll wait until later this week to finish up. I was able to get a rib roast - for $21! My best buy, though, was a butterball turkey for $10.36! I’m making cookies (the Magic Cookie Bars–graham cracker crust, tollhouse morsels, coconut, walnuts & sweetened condensed milk drizzled on top, then baked) for the office holiday party on Wednesday, so I got all those ingredients. I did get most of what I wanted for my Christmas eve and day dinners, though, so that’s good.

I guess my kids and I will be out there in the crowds this weekend–my usual strategy, if I do end up waiting until the last minute (usually the result of poor financial planning …), is to go as early in the morning as possible–I once shopped at Toys r Us at 6 am! Honestly, people do not usually like to shop that early in the morning. So hopefully it shouldn’t be too bad. Hopefully.

I’m hungry.

That is all.

Mindfield that is the single coolest birthday cake ever.

I had an early lunch with some friendly co-workers, went to the gym, the mawl and now have planted my posterior on the furniture for the night.

Someone bring me some food.

And beer.

I have a recipe for making bread with beer - food and beer in one!!!

I just made the most awesome tortellini soup! Damn it was good–so good I’m sorry it filled me up, because I want more!

Off to make Xmas cookies.

I have been fighting a migraine all afternoon and I finally lost. so I will say

Happy Birthday BusDude

and distribute appropraite reactions as warranted (I am going over to that “rule breaking” thread to read what they said about us, but then I am going to sleep for the night).

That’s the magic of the MMP. Even if the scheduled OP doesn’t make it in on time, there’s always someone who’ll get us started off.

I wished the Bus Dude a happy birthday in the old MMP, but I’ll do it once more for good measure:

Happy Birthday, MBG!!!

Extremely cool cake, Mork.

Sorry about the continued throw-uppy-ness, LiLi. I say tinyninjachef owes you for quite some time.

I find it very odd that people take the time to actively develop a negative opinion about the MMP. I just ignore threads that aren’t my cuppa tea. I guess some people need to have something to complain about. Whatever.

I need to get moving on my Christmas cards… I’m sure I missed a few people, so here are some random hugs (ewwww, sticky sweet :stuck_out_tongue: ) for all.

GT

DAMMIT, GT. You missed my lettuce crisis. So much for a sweet and supportive bunch of people.

It is 4.40PM here

I just had my lunch

That should tell you how my day has gone

Before I go home I have to complete an incident report, update 2 presentations and do my expenses

Oh and did I mention that due to the “impending winter storm” aka “a light sprinkling of rain” I may not be gettting my heating installed tomorrow due to safety concerns

Mondays can bite me. :frowning:

Happy Birthday MBG!!!
…[/color]…*

I’m home, tired, and drinking Guinness in honnor of the bithday guy. A friend might sell me his washer for $75. Off tomorrow, with hockey goodness flowing forth.

Puggy, I have no snow, and luminaries are banned/discouraged because of the drought.

Hey Nava, welcome back!

Not my department. I could use a sponge bath, I’m a dirty, dirty boy.

mmmmmm, sorry about the lack of heat.

Welcome newbies. It is customary to give me an offering of good beer.

Miss Haze, come out and play!
