My parents did this and distributed the Doomsday Document to various people; all important info, pre-planned (and pre-paid) funereal; desires as to actions in the event of incapacitation (with documentation tying desires to the living wills), etc.
Highly recommend the activity and I intend to mimic the act soon myself. A fine gesture for your family.
I could really use some virtual hugs & Doperluck. . . Coming up to a moment of finality on a Big Honking Deal and I just want this drawn-out process to be over with, already.
Mornin’ Y’all! Notice it is not a good mornin’ cause it ain’t. All sinusy and blurfy. Irk did not happen as I don’t think I have enough sense right now to drive much less deal with anything. ICK!
Storms moving in and out, adulthood crap to be dealt with, and generally just not feeling it. This may be one of those days when I just phone in everything.
**tugig **- the endless refrain around here is “We really need to do our wills!” They’re going to be super simple, especially since we only have one kid. I should probably search for an estate planning attorney and make an appointment. And since I want my remains to go to a med school, I should do that paperwork also.
But the spreadsheet is done, I think. I should probably add a line for my Dope account so everyone here will be notified… assuming the MMP exists after I become worm food.
Ditto to what ruble said. I should go to yoga after work (cuz I loff yoga) but what I really want to do is go home with a bag of chips and eat chips and watch teevee. Unless my condo is blown away or flooded cuz it’s been pouring for hours. “Black as the ace of spades outside, well there goes the neighborhood” to paraphrase Monty Python.
Good luck, shoe. Thoughts and prayers are with you.
Ouch to the trigger point jabs, GrumpyBunny. And double ouch to knee news, gotti. I do have a friend who just went through a knee replacement, gotti, and except for the first couple of days, it’s gone smoothly, she says. I hope the fake cartilege works instead, though. I’ve seen the video of the replacement procedure and… ugh.
My FIL just had both of his knees replaced at age 84. He’s thrilled - he can walk without pain again! **FCD **will probably have one, if not both, replaced in his 60s. Unless he doesn’t behave himself, in which case it may happen lots sooner. Why an otherwise intelligent man refuses to take a break and heal when he’s hurting, I’ll never know…
I skived off irk today- it was quiet, and we were way overstaffed, and lovely and sunny, so I offered to leave early, and scarpered when my boss took me up on it. Went the scenic route home, via a garden centre
I’m currently trying to work out which of the 23 (!) squash family plants I have seeds for I’m going to try this year… I should go clear more ground, then I’ll be able to fit a few more in… As it is, it’ll be (wait for it) a bit of a tight squeeze.
By the way, I know a guy called Simeon, he goes by Monkey.
Mooom, my dad has everything arranged for when he kicks off. His executor and the sister who helps him out with the administrative crap both have the few passwords he has.
It’s just too pretty to be cooped up indoors today.
