I’m sad to hear of this and offer my condolences to his family and friends. I always found his posts to be enlightening, well thought out, and interesting. He will be missed.
I just went to search in GQ, for information or any questions about Epsom Salts usage. First thread I found was started by Khadaji.
I’m very sorry to hear of his passing, and will remember him this morning in my prayers at church.
I just heard about this. I’m so sorry to hear of his passing. My condolences.
Count me among those who will miss Khadaji’s kindness.
I’m not around that often and just saw this. Man, hate to hear it. He was an amazing Book Fairy back when I organized that project. He also was so kind in his notes to the kids and in my communications with him.
Rest in peace and condolences to those who knew and loved him.
I just found out about this horrible news. Horrible news.
I’ve been apart of the SDMB since …I don’t know…forever…and have been busy for the past few years with this PITA called Life and all it’s pesky details. I poke back in and find out two long time members have passed and it is like a kick to the chest.
I can honestly say that Khadaji’s Whatcha Reading is one of the highlights of not only these boards, but a little corner of the web to find like minded bibliophiles. I’ve tried to find other Whatcha Reading-esque places in other online forums and they all pale ( ok, they become suckage of TWILIGHT is SOOOO AWESOME and I jerst LURVE Oprah’s Book of Da Month. ) Khadaji didn’t set the bar high, he created it.
Though I rarely contributed anything worthwhile to the book threads, my tastes lend towards the bodice rippers You can judge me all you like. I cannot tell you how many books alot I have picked up and read and ended up merrily wandering down another avenue of biblio-obsession because of the years of those threads. Books I would have never given a second glance to at the bookstore. Books that I was nudged into from people much smarter than me whose good opinion I regard seemed like it would be worth a shot. So many of them have given me alot of enjoyment. Enjoyment that I would have missed had I not ventured out of the book rut. A few of them I am fairly certain, I was either not ready to read, too stupid to understand or not my cup of tea. all three with a heavy emphasis on the middle excuse.
My piles of books have piles of book waiting to be read…one day.
This board is made up of just about every facet of humanity. The Super Great to the trolls. Khadaji’s presence here was always welcome and a cornerstone to the very fabric of our own world.
His loss will be longtime felt here.
RIP Ron and your dog.
Gotta admit, I’m a teensy bit jealous of the Dopefest that just got cranked up a notch in the afterlife.
I’m sorry to hear about the loss of Khadaji as well- he was another Regular who I recognized from back in the days of the Dope. He will be missed.
This. Wow. I missed this when it happened. I am sad to have lost such a kind and generous man. My heart goes out to his friends and family. May you RIP, Ron. ![]()
x2.
I hope the monthly book threads carry on in his name*; can’t imagine that NOT happening, on the Dope.
RIP, and thank you.
*Edit: they are. Thank you too, Dopers.
I completely missed this. Goodbye, my friend.
