Preserving Freako’s “social standing” does put other women in that social group at risk, if they aren’t aware that he has no problem invading their privacy, appropriating their property, etc. Guess keeping the GUY still in the social group is more important than the safety of the mere women exposed to him.
The shot heard round the world, panty version.
The hot shot turd heard 'round the world, ranty version, kayaker!
Hope it’s all progressing well for you Crime Scene. At whatever pace works best for you.
I’m not so unnerved that I need to retire to the fainting couch in the front parlor.
I just trust my husbands judgement, and I’m too damn busy to care over much.
Just asked husband what would he do.
He said he’d ask the friend what the hell was he doing, make fun of him, and tell him to take the panties with him, and not allow him in the house alone.
He also said he’d tell me, so we could make fun of him together.
Sound judgement in my opinion.
Not sure what my husband would do if the guy was messing around in one of the daughters rooms. Might change the dynamic.
+1
Don’t worry about it CS, I understand that you’re an empathetic person and it took you some time on how to best deal with it. And dealt with it you did, you eventually told your wife, and the panty raider isn’t welcomed anymore. You did the right thing. But now you’re getting flak because you didn’t do it fast enough, I suspect some people are bored and have nothing else better to do.
I once got flak here on how I pyshically restrained a mentally challengde customer from biting my hand. The biter wasn’t the issue, how I restrained him was. I grabbed him by the head and pulled him down to the counter.
As long as your wife is ok with you, ignore the peanut gallery.
Thank you to those who understand the small town dynamic and the challenges it causes; the implications of such juicy gossip can be devastating. You know how people love to gossip and know other peoples business; now multiply that by 10x cause its a small, midwest town with nothing better to do.
Next time I get straight dope advice I’ll go with the very first response as to do it at a pace that is comfortable to the other members

Sadly, true.
My ex wife, was someone I knew since 2nd grade.
After the divorce, we have only talked maybe once or twice..nice talks, we never argued when married.
But now I am close to her identical twin. We talk often, and until I moved away, she would stop in to visit…often…using my PC and printer in my upper bedroom, while I was still in bed. went on dates like the fair, “just as friends”…had a great time, each time. I visited her often as well. She once disrobed in front of me at her house, pointing that she was identical, after all. She had a point. However, she did this in front of her twin at our house, as well, and my ex-wife didn’t mind.
How fucked up is that?
Creepo is already a pariah in his town. Creepo has already creeped other people out. That isn’t anyone’s fault BUT Creepo’s and being silent about it leads to (in extreme circumstances) stuff like the Sandusky/Paterno situation.
If he becomes a pariah, it’s his choosing, just like it was his choosing to transgress. His choices have repercussions.
Quite a bit.
And yet, not quite as fucked up as cougs turning every relationship thread into an opportunity to confess yet another squicky and improbable personal sex story.

merely using an accurate barometer (twins that I have known since 2nd grade), married one, divorced - rarely contact, yet still in touch with her twin, to verify his claim that wifes come and go, but long time friends are forever.
PS if it were improbable, I would have embellished an affair. Perhaps the reason I didn’t pursue the twin, despite many, including her older daughter, wanting me two, was for this very reason.
His statement has a lot of truth to it…my factual experience, is why I prefer her as a friend, even if very possibly she never intended more…both, having only daughters at home, often walked briefly in the buff at home…she never made an advance on me, or hinted to that. Remember, she exposed herself briefly, in front me & wife, when we were just 3 months into our wedding, and happily married.
I cherish her friendship, as well as updates on how that former side of the family is doing. And do not want to start anything that could later terminate that.
Also, like many have suggested the OP should be with his wife, I put my then wife before my best friend, her twin, when we were married…I still honor her in that regard - knowing it would devastate their unique sibling relationship. Even long after the divorce, I still place my ex, before my best female friend & confidant, her twin.
I made a promise to honor her until death to we part. Crime Scene - take note.
Great. You’ve completely removed and possibility of tumescence.
You had tobring up Florence Henderson???
Nice.

Some friendships aren’t worth preserving. If you know some guy who’d treat another guy’s wife like that, then he’s not a friend. A friend doesn’t do that to you.
The world’s more complicated than that. What if the friend has a brain tumor, or a recent head injury, or is on prescription meds that are messing with his judgment?
And  to the idea that friends>spouses. At the very least, your spouse should be considered as the one friend, above all, to whom you made a lifelong commitment to - because, after all, you did.
What if aliens are sending mine controlling waves into his brain? :dubious:
Dude, it doesn’t matter – as long as you’re married, your spouse comes first. If you go into a marriage with the attitude that, “well, wives come and go”, well, don’t get married. And if you have a friend who has such problems – SAID PERSON IS NOT A TRUE FRIEND. IF a friend has some kind of mental illness, and can’t control his actions, he shouldn’t be allowed free access into your house like that. But your family’s safety comes first.
But yeah, “bros before hos”, huh?
No, I believe you are the one, of the two of us, who is drawing the situation in black-and-white, no shades of gray.
I had a live-in girlfriend who ran up my credit cards, got me fired from my job, hacked my Gmail account to hide the evidence, and then lied to the police about it. She was trying to get me to marry her.
If I had married her, would you say she would be more important than my best friend, who I’ve known since I was 6?
I’m just giving an example from my life. There are plenty more extreme examples than that. Of course you know there are. I don’t even know what we’re arguing about.
