A game for a 12 yo boy

This could possibly be put in another board, but since it’s about games, and I wanted input for a gamer, I decided to put it here. I know next to nothing about games.

For a story I’m working on, I need the name of a game and game system. Parameters are:

  1. The system has to work on an old analog TV or on some sort of stand-alone system that can be played in a car (do they still make the equivalent of a Gameboy?)
  2. It should be the type of thing at 12-year-old boy might play.
  3. It should have some violent content .

Best answer will be Tuckerized, if you wish.

I guess you’re looking for a newer system. I’d say get a Nintendo DS and Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks or something. My nephew’s 10 and he could play that for hours given the chance.

I agree with Bosstrain. I just asked my 12 yo son and he said DS and any of the Legend of Zelda games are great. He also likes the Kirby games. He says Pokemon (even if you don’t watch the show) is a really good adventure game.

Thanks, that might work. Bosstrain – PM me your last name so I can put it into the story.

I’d prolly go with a first person shooter–like Call of Duty: Black OPS, on an X-Box or PS3.

If you aren’t married to the idea of console gaming, then a MMORG, like World of Warcraft, or City of Heroes might work. Then epic WoW thread here would be a great resource for lingo, game-flavor research.

Dude, did you even read the criteria for this? Seriously, WoW and FPS’s, really? Seth Meyers needs to get on this fast…

It clearly meets criteria #2 and #3. If #1 is flexible, then WoW or an FPS is a valid suggestion. Otherwise, not so much.

For a 12 year old? Really?..REALLY? you know those are M games right? As in 17 or older, right? :smack: Seth, tell this guy, give’m the really.

When I was 12, I used to snipe and murder innocent civilian scientists in “Goldeneye” for hours on end. And Pokemon is pretty much glorified Cock fighting for a portable system. That could work!
