Thanks for any suggestions you can provide. My son is eleven, and we’d like to find a game we can play together. We’ve played Knack (both) as well as Brothers. I’m not much of a gamer, so I get overwhelmed when I try and sift through all that is out there. Does anyone have recommendations for games that might suit us? Something not super violent. Puzzles a plus. Two player.
Hob, maybe? It’s a Zelda-like with a gameworld that works a bit like the Game of Thrones intro, you unlock new areas by literally making them appear out of the ground. It probably sounds weird in text, but it really feels like you have effected a change to the world when it happens.
This is exactly what I would recommend. They’re perfect games for two players (meant to be played that way actually, in single-player you just switch between two characters to solve the puzzles) and the only violence is seeing LEGO figures break apart when you punch 'em.
An 11 year old boy doesn’t want Lego games. Yes they are good games for the most part but his friends aren’t playing those at this point.
A good co-op game that me and my daughter played through is Rayman Legends. It’s very forgiving in the lives department and is genuinely an amazing game.
Thank you for the suggestions. He has played the Lego games. I have a problem “seeing” what I’m supposed to on those, I’m not sure why. Hob and Portal 2 look like things we’d enjoy but I don’t see either on Amazon for the PS4. (Dumb question: can we play games marked PS3 on a PS4?) I also bought Rayman Legends.
I appreciate the help, and am sorry if these are dumb questions. I welcome new suggestions too. I note when I searched for the games listed Amazon helpfully suggested what other folks looked at/bought and that was enlightening too.
Try some of the Star Wars games if he is into that, they are violent, but not gore and blood violent for the most part.
Rayman is also fun.
As for playing PS3 games on PS4… no, for the most part it doesn’t work out. Xbox One has that feature though, to play older games, but I doubt you’d want to switch consoles (it can save money in the long run if your kid games a lot)
Also, whatever you choose, you can save a lot of money if you buy them on eBay as opposed to amazon. I’ve amassed quite a collection on two consoles (over 100 games) and each cost me about $10-20 bucks new. Even if older titles. Also check out METACRITIC.com to check out the reviews on games, they have them categorized by console, rating, type and score etc… It’ll help you decide easier. Hope you find something good! Tip: Only get games with at least a score of 75 or 7/10 or so. Those are the most enjoyable.
Best of Luck!
