According to the Washington Post, Souter was assaulted at 4th and N St. SW. For those who don’t know DC, that area abuts a ghetto that is highly unsafe. It is most definitely NOT an area for gay pickups–that would be Rock Creek Park or P Street Beach, a park in Dupont Circle that sees a lot of outdoors cruising.
