A Grateful Nation Honors Laverne and Shirley for their Distinguished Military Service

For a moment there I thought the name of the episode was “Booby Snatchers” I want to see that!

Yeah, this really had me going for a while, thinking that it was an actual show and not some totally insane off-the-wall shit that somebody made up as a goof and put on Youtube. I mean…seriously…it can’t be real…it just can’t…can it???

Anybody remember Gilligan’s Planet?

“First we were stranded on an island. Then we were stranded on a planet. And now we’re stranded on an island on a planet.”

Oh man, I used to watch that! I’d forgotten all about it, though I do remember the Happy Days cartoon where they time-traveled like Doctor Who, and had a talking dog named Mr Cool that wore a leather jacket.

My lower cerebellar tonsils are filled with 70s cartoon memories.

They fight Kong. Go into space. There is a talking pig. Was there an episode where they go through a tunnel and end up in John Malkovich’s brain?

WIN! well done

Perfectly realistic for me, I was about 12, and never missed the Happy Days, L&S, Mork and Mindy Tuesday block. I repeat, I was 12.

Briefly, IIRC, (and I don’t think I’m far wrong,) Laverne and Shirley join the army for a future, endure madcap hardships in basic training. The drill sergeant is so impressed, she decides to take them on a serious survival course, in Iceland. The girls feign battle fatigue to get a section 8. It was a great bit, but it fools no one, and the girls explain in one of Shirley’s sad explanations, with the slow tinkling piano music. ('Member those?) Apparently, they get put into the Reserves, after a stern talking to that they shouldn’t run away from their problems. Which is completely plausible. If you’re 12.
