I’m a girl who likes guys so maybe my opinion isn’t worth much but-- Shirley was cuter but Laverne was funner. Plus, you’d have a chance to score with Laverne, not so much with Shirley.
The Big Ragu could cook but all that singing would give me a headache. Lenny and Squiggy where too into each other.
According to Ron Howard, Richie went back after that episode that introduced them and lost his virginity with Laverne. Never mentioned in either series, but these things seldom are.

Richie also did it with Shirley, but that was in American Graffiti, so I’m not sure it counts as canon.
I disagree that you wouldn’t have much of a chance to score with Shirley. Shirley just played the Good Girl. Deep down she was almost as dirty as Laverne.

Shirley for sure. Laverne could look attractive in the right outfit, but Shirley (especially her hairdo) looked damn adorable no matter what. Plus Shirley had the much better speaking voice.
Then again I though the best looking woman on the show was Edna Babish so what do I know?

Straight female here. I always found Laverne brassy and brash and annoying. Shirley seemed like someone I could hang out with on a friendly basis and enjoy her company.
Shirley was too prissy. Laverne was an outright slut. I pick Laverne.

Laverne, for me. Taller, sturdily built, and her features were more pronounced, while Shirley seemed too white-bread, too scrawny-ish. The funny was a bonus.
Laverne. She would undoubtedly be very enthusiastic in the warm commerce and that milk+pepsi thing indicates she’d swallow just about anything. She’s also pretty tough and it’d be great to have a squeeze who could help out when a brawl erupts in the bowling alley parking lot.
Yeah I’d have to go with Laverne, Shirley is just too uptight and would probably be a first-class nagger.
