Laverne or Shirley

Inspired by Nick at Nite and because Ginger v. Mary Ann has been done to death, given the choice between Milwaukee’s Laverne DeFazion & Shirley Feeney, who would you rather go out with?

Personally, I go for Laverne because she’s funnier and Shirley’s too uptight.

Wow, what a choice. I’ll probably just stay home and wash the car. I’ve dated women that have had a lot of their qualities. They fall under the single category of Dates From Hell.

Ew! - And the other choices are?

It’s kind of like asking the ladies if they prefer Squiggy or Lenny.

But a big plus, they both work at a brewery!

Shirley was cuter. But she’s no Jenny Picalo.

Not a hijack, but in order to let the distaff side participate too, can we discuss the relative merits (splort) of Lenny and Squiggy?

Although I realize there may be ladies who’d have an opinion on Lavern and Shirley too.

Actually, given a choice between the four of them, I’d take Laverne. She didn’t take no crap off nobody.

I give the same advice I gave on the Mary Ann & Ginger thread: Screw 'em both.

If push came to shove, I’d go out with Shirley while risking the incurred wrath of the Great Ragu.

But I’ve still a fond spot in my heart for Pinky Tuskadero…

It’s the Big Ragu, not the Great Ragu. It is the Great Gazoo (Flintstones)

Shirley, but not by much of a margin. Neither on of them struck me as particularly appealing, and the show was on at a time when my hormones were at full battle alert, so that’s saying something.

I remember Pinky Tuscadero, who was smokin’! Sadly, Roz Kelly, who played Pinky, was in the news last year, accused of shooting her neighbor’s cars and her neighbor’s apartment after a car alarm woke her up in the middle of the night. I am not without sympathy to the impulse, but still…

I also remember Pinky’s sister Leather Tuscadero, who was interesting, if not exactly smokin’. I saw the actress that played her, Suzi Quarto, in a production of Annie Get Your Gun in London in 1989… she was more a singer than an actress, I might point out, both as regards her AGYG and Happy Days gigs… kind of a Melissa Etheridge type for the 80s.

Between Lenny and Squiggy - I’d go for Lenny - Squiggy was just too weird including his voice (and that curl in the middle of his forehead - yuck). As for Laverne or Shirley - I always liked Shirley more, maybe because I’m a lot like her - personality-wise - but I’m much more attractive! (and my real name is Shirley).

Neither. They’re both old enough to be my mom.

You will buy the ukulele, and touch every place.

Shirley, I suppose. But only if she and Laverne were the last women on earth.

Well actually, it’s the Big Ragoo. As evidenced by his branded jacket.

Or at least, I think so.

OK, now this is a subject dear to my heart. I think one can find out a lot by who they would do if the choices weren’t so clear, such as:

Alice from the Brady Bunch, or Carol, the secretary from the Bob Newhart show?

Mrs Garrett (fact of life, Different Strokes) or Weezie (Jeffersons)

Miss Hathoway (Bev Hillbillies) or Ethyl Mertz (I love Lucy)

The Skipper (Gilligan’s island) or Archie Bunker (All in the Family)

Boss Hogg (Dukes of Hazard) or Danny DeVito (taxi, et al)

I think these make for some interesting conversations. Sorry for the Hijack.

Nothing is so bad that it can’t get worse.

Big Rosie Greebaum!

Wo. Good questions…gotta be Lenny.
Hmmm,I’d have to take the Skipper, then Boss Hogg.
But I used to like Rooster from Baretta myself.

Shirley. The seduction would be so challenging and so much fun. The rewards would be too numerous to mention.
