All this talk of food first thing in the morning has got me hoooooongry.
(yes, I get a rumbly in the tumbly just thinking of brussels sprouts and green beans and lima beans… obviously, I’m a weirdo, but at least I’m a well-fed weirdo. )
Sorry about the work-inducing email, Soapy. That sucks.
I suppose I should go do some work now, huh? I really really really don’t wanna, though. pout
Ditto on getting the flu shot today. I used to play the odds, because the last time I had HTG flu was 1978. I now get more exposure than the average bear (N. O. S., N. O. Gay), and bringing it home to VWife would be disastrous.
The timing will be fun, too. I volunteered for a bambilance shift because of our staffing problem, the shift starts at 5, I get out of work at 3, and there’s an hour commute in between. At least I get the Zone Car tonight instead of having to park my ass at the station.
The big, shit-eating grin on my son’s face last night was priceless.
I pulled up to pick him at work and his skates were off and the shoes were on. He was ready to DRIVE! The car does handle quite nicely, although I think steering feels a little, I dunno, loose.
He also wanted to pick my daughter up at work last night, so I hopped in the car with him to so he could pick his sister up too.
He plans on washing the car today after school. I told him he had to clean the kitchen up first, though.
Swampy, I hope things are better at work. I’ve had way too many of the days you experienced yesterday. I feel ya, bud…I feel ya.
I happen to love tomatoes. I will admit to being uber picky about those found in a grocery store because, let’s face it, most of those don’t really have any flavor.
The tomatoes that come from a garden though, mmmmmmmmmm-MMMMMMMMM! I love them. I will eat them as a snack, raw.
I don’t ever get the flu shot…EVER. I’ve never had one. I could get them through work for no charge (bonus of working for a hospital), but I just never do. I don’t really get the flu. Besides, everyone at my house is healthy, so I don’t have to worry about compromising someone’s immune system.
Today is my Friday and I hope it goes quickly. I am sick of being here at work.
Is it weird to be thinking about possible dissertation topics when you’re only in the second week of classes?
5 hours of class today. At least we are now all caught up with the classes we’d missed due to a bank holiday and the scheduling problems, excuse me, issues, so hopefully things should be more orderly now.
Hello, hello, hello! After tow fun-filled days at work, it’s the weekend again! Woo and Hoo!!!
On Monday, I made a peace offering for my MIL - a blueberry-topped, no-bake cheesecake (in a blind-baked, vanilla sweetcrust pastry crust). It was a work of art, a true wonder to behold, and I decided my MIL (lousy, crusty old bitch that she is) didn’t deserve such fruits of my labour. So … I kept it at home and over the last four days, I ate it all myself!!!
Hi everyone! I’ve never posted to an MMP before, but I didn’t want to make a whole new thread for this!
I’m sick, but I bought one of those nasal sprays that you get addicted to if you use it for more than a couple of days and I can kinda breathe again! This makes me happy.
I am feeling a little better - I made it into work today but then left early. I think The Flu from Hell has morphed into a sinus infection as this afternoon my balance suddenly went, it felt like I was beign thrown backwards and then the room started to spin. Niiiiiice.
I haven’t had a flu shot in years the last time I did in 2003 I ended up sicker than I have ever been. But I did sign up for the flu shot drive this year so we shall see how it goes.
So, kushiel- are you addicted?
Go, Dotty! (Thank all listening deities that I like my inlaws. Dotty, yours suck.)
Right. Sudden headache. Lying down for five minutes.
Welcome, kushiel! It’s not you that gets addicted, it’s your sinuses. They clog up if you don’t use it when they want you to! Use it sparingly. Also, I don’t know if you have high blood pressure, but it can elevate it. It does feel good to breathe, though, doesn’t it?
I’m all caught up, but I haven’t retained much… Sumpin’ about someone biting Swampy’s hairy ass was in there.
My boss just showed up! I thought we were gonna get out of our Thursday meeting. Boo.
Boss Guy keeps vanishing on me. It’s rather frustrating, because I do occasionally need to talk to the guy about stuff, and it would be nice to know if he’s just stepped out for a quick meeting or if he’s gone for the day. Grrrrr.
Dotty, you are my new hero. Seriously. Your MIL doesn’t deserve you as a DIL.
mmmmmmmm, sinus infections are Teh Suck. Glad to hear you’re doing better… it doesn’t sound like it’s been a very pleasant week. Hopefully you’ll be back to normal soon-like.
Nava, there’s no such thing as being too prepared. Especially when it’s a dissertation topic.
Howdy Y’all! I was a grouch all yesterday, but I’m feeling much better now! That last part was just for you BioRosie. It was a lot of office politics that I just don’t like and ain’t up to playin’. Suffice it to say, I made my point. Loud. And. Clear.
Yesterday I was not fit to be in any kind of company, polite or otherwise, so I stayed pretty much to myself. Well, ‘cept for ol’ y’all know who. After pizza, several beerverages and ummmm… y’all know, I got over it all. Today was actually fairly tolerable, which I consider to be a good day at work as of late. Plus I got feelers out for other employment just cause.
I read through stuff. Not much retention though.
Taters glad your son got his car. Has he gotten out of it yet?
Dotty good for you! You should tell her, I made you a peace offerin’ but I decided it was too good for you so I ate it myself.
mmmmmm’s glad you’re feelin’ better.
kushy do we need to find you a twelve step nose spray program?
Everybody else, yays, boos, hugs, woohoos, trouts, chitlins, noogies, how you doin’s, as needed.
I was all set to come home and make us burgers for supper. Then I talked to SIL and found out that he and Daughter are going to the county fair tonight. So much for making supper. So **FCD **and I will go out somewhere… eventually.
Things are moving along at work - and I think I scored some brownie points today - go me! With luck, I’ll get the last few items done tomorrow - first draft, anyway.
And the weekend is almost here, so yay for that!.
Oh goody - Poseidon Adventure is on cable. again.
Think I’ll make my sweetie take me out to dinner now.
Well Dang! I just found out my bugman died. He’d been sick and on leave of absence from the bug killin’ company but I had no idea he was that sick. I saw his obituary in the local [del]fishwrapper[/del] newspaper. He was a good guy who had made da cave bug free for ten years. I’ll miss ol’ Butch.
Oh and [del]fartblossoms[/del] brussels sprouts are the ickiest veggie evah!
Brussel sprouts can only be redeemed by separating all the leaves and then lightly sauteing them in butter with some bacon lardons!
In other news, we are now officially (after some 2 years and 5 months) nappy-free - HRH has made the leap to sleeping in her knickers and we are now (touch wood, cross fingers, ptui-ptui) 3 nights without nappies/diapers and 3 nights without accidents! Yayyyyyy!
It looks weird. Congrats, though!
I have to put the Nigella Lawson cookbooks down. I’m starting to decide on Christmas, and wondering about the dinner menu, and planning homemade Christmas presents…
Eh, my presentation went ok, not great. I had some “technical” difficulties and my pre-planned search didn’t work on the one database–I have to call and ask why, since it worked fine when I did a trial run…
Still, it’s over and that’s the main thing. These things get better with practice.
I am home and somewhat grumpy in that the dishwasher was not emptied nor was #1 son’s Rx dropped off at the pharm AND #2 son didn’t go to his clarinet lesson AGAIN today. I need a clone of myself.
I think I’m just tired because I am really grumpy. Off to get in a better mood.
Dotty–that coffee cake thingy would have been wasted on her anyway. Yay on HRH and Big Girl pants!
