A half century gone. A very early MMP

Not much to contribute… been a slow day here (finally!) – but I saw this thread (“United Arab Emirates - working there as a woman”) and thought I’d page Dotty.

Good evening, everyone – hope all the grrrs are kept to a minimum! {{{MMP}}}

No love for SnowBunny for setting you to be first?

Poke, poke…

Hanging at home, dishes, brushing the very fluffy dog (look, we made a puppy!), playing with the new multi-quote tool.

But then you’d be jealous… :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, we can’t have that, now, can we?

Mama always told me to share so I gotta spread all that EEEVIL around dontcha know:D:p:cool:

Noonie you make me laugh! Im loving the historic pass thingy! Ill go during the less busy times of course. It’ll be a good excuse to add some culture to my life as well as bumping my intelligence up a tad!

Ohhhhhhh my! Those receipes! My keyboard is now covered in drool! Im off to the 24hr ASDA to buy some ingredients! I think i’ll buy some fruit and veg too - y’know to balance things out!

Pie all this alcohol talk has made me thirsty for morgan, lemonade and blackcurrent but I must resist as I am working early tomorrow morning. :frowning:

Glad I got you to laugh the easy way.

… Or I would have had to tickle you!

Again (this time seriously…) glad you like the idea.

Looks like Jerry’s making progress with the templates. Quick reply is back along with the multi-quotes. There are also tags now, which is handy.

I think sitting down with both of them sounds good, FCM. Good luck.

Home from the park. Need to get some painting done. And to water some plants. I’m starting to think about bringing plants in for the winter. Of course, I don’t really have anyplace good to put them. I need to move some things around to make that work.

Off to get stuff done.

I just baked a Devil’s Food cake for DIL’s birthday, which is today. It was either that or clean off the dining room table, and 90% of that stuff is Wifey’s and I haven’t a clue what to do with it. TheBoyChild and DIL drove up this morning and are off to watch their boy, #1GrandSon, play baseball. He’s on the team at the University a few blocks from our house. We thought with him going to school here we’d get to see him once in a while. HA! It is to laugh. We’ll prolly go over to watch the rest of the game when Wifey gets home.

You know, MBG left out a few steps in that breakfast recipe:

Pour Honey Nut Cheerios into bowl.
Scrape the Cheerios on the counter that missed the bowl into your hand and put them in the bowl too.
Ignore the Cheerios that went on the floor, the dog will get them.
Cover with milk.
Wipe up the Cheerios and milk that slopped over the rim of the bowl onto the counter when you poured on the milk.
Ignore the Cheerios and milk that are now all over the floor, and the dog. He’ll manage somehow.
Utilize spoon to consume yumminess while reading.
Put empty bowl and spon in sink.
Change shirt.
Throw milk-sodden shirt in clothes hamper.
Don’t worry about milk and cereal in chair and on floor, the dog is quite adept at that sort of thing.

Ima guess havin’ Bumba and MBG over for dinner would be a messy affair.

Howdy Y’all! I’ve been kinda busy today. We went over to see JoeDawg. He’s his old cantankerous self for sure! I made sure he had mandatory medicinal skritches. Since then I’ve been to buy groceries (I hate grocery shoppin’!) and made a corn casserole and some tea for tomorrow since it’s brunch Sunday at church. Ol’ y’all know who left a few minutes ago to go to the burly butcher store to get us some chicken and whatever for dindin cause I don’t wanna cook. Burly butcher makes some fine smoked chicken!

That’s pretty much the news from da cave.

MOOOOOOM here’s hopin’ come to Jesus works on SIL.

Spaz the local high school football team is the Trojans. Folks refer to the band as the marchin’ condoms. That tickles me.

Ok, I hear the door openin’ so it’s feedin’ time!

Later Y’all!

The board changed slightly. Now I’m frightened and confused.

I tried sardines for the first time today. I was pleased and will add them to my grocery list from now on. Peter and Zelda liked them too.

You mean like a French tickler??

I quit for the day. I put a second coat of paint on all the door frames, but they’ll need a third in some spots - my fault - I didn’t use the primer first. Plus I have to prime and paint the door that **FCD **and I cut down for the bathroom/laundry room door. We made that provision so that if I’m in my studio and need the potty, I don’t have to go tramping thru the kids’ whole place just to pee. Plus it gives them easy access to the laundry room.

**GT **- put me down for Oct 13. We’ll be going to the sailboat show the day before so I suppose something will happen or I’ll see something that’ll inspire me. I may even take the camera so I can do a pictorial narrative - as long as it’s not raining. It usually rains. What ya gonna do??

We will sup on leftovers. There’s meatloaf, one poke chop, assorted veggies, and some rice. No ice cream, tho. Dammit. I need to do a grocery shop big time. I was going to do it tomorrow morning, but I have other things I need to get done, so it’ll have to wait - maybe Monday?? We shall see.

That’s all I’ve got. As soon as **FCD **finishes the last of his caulking, I’ll start warming our miscellany meal. Still no ice cream. Dammit.

I’m glad to hear you say that, Spaz, because I noticed the boards are a bit different but wasn’t sure if it was just me or what.

I’m also glad to hear I’m not the only one amused by teams being called Trojans.

In the local weekly newspaper this week there was an article about “Trojan Homecoming” next week. I predict Leesburg will be overrun with rubbers.

::pats Spaz::

Don’t worry, it’s still the same board, they just did a little remodeling.

I’ll add you in on the 13th, FCM.

Tired. Took a nap. Watching a few more episodes of Bones.

Ate a snack. Heading back to sleepy-bye in a bit.

Happy Saturday evening.

It’s 2:30 in the morning!

(That’s what I get for going to bed without taking my meds.) Oh well, just got up to take them and I’m on my way back to bed soon.

Wouldn’t that make the band members’ hats the “Marching Trojans”, and the band members themselves the “Marching Dicks?” :stuck_out_tongue:

Wow, it’s been quiet in here! I sign off for the night at about 3:30 EDT, get back here and youse peoples have managed less than 10 posts all evening? :dubious:

Anyway, I’m back in the salt mines, but only for 3 days and change, since Wednesday is already Yom Kippur Eve, leading into another looooong weekend (Wednesday strating around noon until Saturday for Yom Kippur+ weekend; then work Sunday and maybe a few hours Monday, heading into Succoth; get Tuesday off, etc… October is not going to be productive in this country! )

Also, as of this morning, we are back on Standard Time. It’s going to feel like it’s getting dark really, really early, at least until I get used to it!

Happy Sunday, y’all

I hear you, Pie. I’m taking a lot of Advil these days, but will soon have to go onto antidepressents (I’ve got problems w/SADS).

As mentioned before, my daughter & family (SIL & Angelboy, our grandson) have moved in. My daughter is taking vocational classes. SIL is looking for work. Angelboy is three months old tomorrow. So, in celebration of Vincent Blaine Burkett’s three-month birthday, here’s The Hamster Dance http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UoY_1SItKHg. Enjoy, you all!

Love, Phil

Work. Sleep. Work. Hugs and beer to MMP.

We watched *Chicago *last night. It was on TV, but we have the DVD, so we opted for the commercial-free route. By the last scene, we were both falling asleep, making it a good thing that we’d re-sheeted the bed earlier in the day. I was up a couple of times with an upset tummy, but once I settled down, I made it till 6!!

Now I’m up - duh - critters have been fed, dishwasher is running, and I think I’ll toss the sheets into the washer. We’ve got to leave about 9:30, so I’m thinking no basement work will be done today - yay! We’re meeting Mom around 1-1:15, and by the time we get home, it’ll be too late to do anything down there - damn the luck.

I got a letter the other day that surprised me in a couple of ways. First, it was from my cousin. Her father, Uncle W was my grandfather’s brother. So that makes Cousin C my mom’s cousin - does that mean she’s my second cousin?? Anyway, I’ve never gotten any mail from her, so that was surprise one. It was a form asking people to sign up to make donations to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Cousin C’s daughter, L, was diagnosed with breast cancer 2 years ago and she’s about to begin chemo. This cousin is in her 30s, I’m guessing. She was a pre-teen when I joined the Navy, and other than one visit with them at Uncle W’s house in the 70s, I’ve seen her most recently within the last 3 years or so at a funeral. So she’s a stranger for all intents and purposes, yet it really hits me that someone so young has this disease. Anyway, I’m going to send a donation in support of L. Sorry for rambling on about this. It just doesn’t seem right for a woman in her 30s to deal with such a thing.

Just so I don’t end this post on a downer, here’sa link to a video that, well, let’s just say I’m glad my daughter didn’t see it before her wedding. It’s long-ish but worth it!

MWAH!!
