A half century gone. A very early MMP

Happy Birthday Rosie!

Eid Mubarak

Shana Tova

That was much coding. Off to work now.

Wishing you a good day, a good year and a great life!

Happy Birthday, Rosie!!

Eid Mubarak and Shana Tova to those celebrating.

Dotty, your MIL is a piece of work. I think I’d be looking for a job and a house somewhere on the other side of the world from her. Back to Australia perhaps? At least that’d be my plan!

Hi snowbunny! I haven’t seen **Mama Tigs **around this week. Is she ok? (Have I just missed her post somewhere?) Tell her we miss her at the MMP!

Was that **beebs **back there?? ::waves::

I’m feeling unmotivated this morning. Can someone help jump start my day? 'Cause I really don’t want to do work!

Thanks, Shelli. I await your fashion advice breathlessly. And taxi’s. taxi, i want your opinion pro and con blue trim. I know the fabric looks maroon, but it’s actual teeny tiny blue and red check. Someone at work thought blue trim would look cowgirl-ish, and I need reassurance that it won’t.

Happy Birthday, rosie!!!
We’re going birthday-clothes-shopping for me in a bit. It’s rainy and chilly and I want a) out of the house, and then b) back in to do some livening food. We’ll have taco pie for dinner, and I’ll do baked mac’n’cheese for tomorrow. I think I’ll make a cake and lemonade. We have a bagful of lemons. Damn Costco.

I think MamaTigs has been busy again. I’ll mention that she’s been missed!

Blurf. With sugar and cinnamon on top.

Remember Neighbor Sarah, who broke her femur and spent the summer in the Mayberry [del]Warehouse For The Chronically Sick and Elderly[/del] nursing home?

Shes’ been home about a month, and has had at least 5 diabetic emergencies that I know of in the past 2 weeks. I treated her last Monday for one, and got the call at midnight last night for another. It was nasty, too. She was conscious and alert, but had no muscle control, and despite giving her honey (it was what was on hand), her sugar kept dropping. I ended up calling for the night crew to help me out, and switched her to Kool-Aid in the meantime.

That did the trick. in the 10 minutes it took for the ambulance to get there, she regained control of her muscles enough to be able to sit upright on her own, and she ate a peanut butter sammich. While the crew was assisting her, VWife and I ducked out to go home, and we made her scrambled eggs, sausage, and toast at 1:30 AM.

I’ve known for quite a while now that they’re quite poor, but I didn’t know that at the end of the month that they resort to eating sandwiches to make the money stretch. That might work for healthy college students, but it’s one of the worst things you can do if you’re an elderly diabetic.

I’m going to get them a care package on the way home tonight. Some eggs, cheese, a deli chicken, glucose tablets, and a crutch tip for Fred’s cane.

So I got up waaaaaay late this morning, after having missed a significant portion of my ugly sleep. The kicker: one of the tunnels to the Peeninsula where we used live was blocked by a wreck, and had traffic backed up for 10 miles. I got to sit 45 minutes in the traffic jam.

Happy 50th Rosie!!!

And Eid Mubarak and Shana Tova to the rest of you.

Dotty, clearly your MIL has superior knowledge of how to dress HRH. She’s had umpteen million years of parenting experience, young lady! How dare you dress her in something adorable and pink… it’s bordering on child abuse, I tell you! I’m seconding (thirding? fourthing?) the wet trout.

Vundie, you’re an awesome neighbour. Sarah’s awful lucky to have you nearby… I can’t imagine being old, sick and barely able to eat when the end of the month rolls around. :frowning:

LiLi, enjoy the shopping. I’m sending subliminal blue bias tape vibes in your direction.

I’m annoyed with transit this morning. My regular bus was MIA, so I ended up waiting in the pouring rain for 20 minutes before the next bus showed up - packed to the gills with grumpy wet people, just to add the cherry on top of that poop sundae. Of course, after that wonderfully enjoyable experience, my cold has decided to resurface and I’m coughing like an 80 yr old asthmatic. Grrrrr.

Aw, to heck with it. I can’t get caught up!

Happy Birthday, Rosie Posie!
Busy busy busy…
::zooooooooooooommm::

Me? Are you sure you mean me? I’m really not the one to go to for fashion advice. IRL most people think I’m hopelessly un-fashionable. As in you should probably take what I say and do the opposite. :smack:

But anyway, since you asked, I would say go for the blue trim and find some matching blue buttons to go with it. And if it looks cowgirl-ish, just wear it with cowboy boots and embrace the country look. :stuck_out_tongue:

Hippo Birdy, Rosie!

Dotty, your MIL needs to be dumped down a well, what a biznatch!

Bobbio, I wish I had you for a neighbor instead of the bong huffin’ skinhead who squats in the next house over… Your neighbors are very lucky to have you!

Himself came down with a yucky case of the never-get-overs which made him run a pretty high fever and feel very blech. The phrase “my balls ache” featured prominently during the day. I finally managed to force him to take a nap for a couple hours, then handed him a blueberry yogurt smoothie when he got up because he was refusing to eat anything which is so not good when you’re sick. He can’t resist a blueberry smoothie even if he were dying so that woke his system up a bit and then I wafted a large pot of lethally alliumed and herbed chicken soup with brown rice under his nose. He ate a huge amount of it and is feeling much better today. I have my fingers crossed that I don’t get it!

It’s been weirdly warm the past couple of days, with a hot wind blowing out of the Columbia Gorge. This usually means that the hot air is blowing toward a low pressure area over the ocean so it looks like we’ll be getting some rain soon, darn it… Doesn’t look like it’s going to be too bad, though, so that’s good.

Specifically for Muppet- Bluenotes has fun underwear on sale for 5 for $10. They’re cute. I love cheap fun underwear.

Dotty, I hate your MiL.

taxi, I’m relying on you because the pictures you post of things you like are always beautiful.

Howdy Y’all! I’m home cause I’m all stuffed up and sneezy. It’s all allergy though.

As I thought, instead of working a couple days a week from da cave, I’ll be working at the actual office everyday starting next week. I’m not complaining though I have enjoyed the telecommute thing. There’s enough space now that the remodel is complete so I guess that’s a good thing.

Anywho, tomorrow I will telecommute and also Firday. I have a workpile I could get started on today but right now I’m just all sinusy and such.

Ok, takin’ some stuff and outta heah!

Well thank you! I do have some nice outfits, but my day-to-day work wear tends to consist of khakis and a sweater, and compared to some of my early-20s, rail-thin, perfectly-blond and always-really-fashionable-and-sexy-without-being-inappropriate coworkers (who, of course, are super nice too… so you want to hate them but can’t), I feel frumpy.

To take your question a bit more seriously, I really do think the blue would look good with it and accessories can keep it from looking cowgirl-ish.

Cute underwear on sale? Awesome! Plus more underwear = the option to procrastinate on laundry for even longer before it’s absolutely necessary.

Hope your allergies go away soon, swampus.

I need to stop snarfing down the Hershey’s Kisses that are in a jar on my desk, because it’s waaaay too easy to mindlessly scoop up a dozen and eat a whole chocolate bar’s worth of calories. What possessed me to buy Hershey’s Kisses in the first place, anyways, let alone put a jar of them on the desk where I sit for 8 hrs each day? It’s BAD! :smack:

Mornin’, almost afternoon all.

Mr. Taters stayed home sick today. He woke up at 3:00 coughing up a lung and just feeling like smooshed shit.

I too am feeling crappy, although my head isn’t particularly stuff. Everything just hurts. But, because I need to learn something at work fast, and they want me to run this particular item everyday for the next 10 or 12 days, I showed up to work.

My boss think I don’t like her because of this, and even said so, but I told her I just felt crappy. I don’t think she believed me. It’s the truth, but whatever. I feel too crappy to argue.
Happy, happy birthday, Rosie. I can’t do the fancy colors and coding here at work, so just pretend the letters are size 7 and bright pink.

Talk to y’all later.

Sorry, didn’t read. Back from doctor. Now need colonoscopy due to slightly high CA125. Trying to not worry too much about this.

Anyway, here is my new hair:

newhair,sameoldface
Will come back later, I think, if have time.

There*

Hope you feel better, too!

Been a lazy bum all day, capitalizing on our vacation day to the max – haven’t been out of the house at all, except to take the dogs out!

**Dotty 'Id Mubarak to you and yours (except the MIL. Who should be addressed with a large fish  )

*Mods, please don’t kill me for altering a quote…

Happy Almost 50th Birthday Rosie!!!

Ok, this has smoke coming out of my ears. God, I hate postmenopausal women whose sons have married. What is their problem? Would they want that to happen to them? Would they smile and like it if their MIL did that?

Christ on a cracker. Jesus wept. Grrrrr.

Happy Rosie Day!!!
It’s just another day in paradise. **FCD **is putting up door molding in the basement. I’m about to start supper - steak tonight. Daughter just got home. Life goes on…

Back later.

MIL’s like Dotty’s are the driving force to make sure I never turn into someone like that–then I’d have to beat myself to death with a hammer and that would hurt! Parents and in-laws should be supportive and helpful unless the kids are just hopeless or actually doing a damage to the grandkids. Dotty is obviously not one of those so MIL has no excuse whatsoever! So much grrr…

Rigs, your new haircolor is very flattering, well done!

Feel better, Taters, should I put some chicken soup through the DVD drive for you and Mr Taters? Try a blueberry smoothie, I have it on highest authority that it works a treat on sickies.
