Well, this is just a bad week for Mumper pets and those associated with Mumpers, even. JoeDawg has to have minor surgery Firday. He needs to have a little lump on his back right leg lanced. JoeDawg’s daddy said Dr. Ira told him there’d be a couple stitches and JoeDawg will have to continue antibiotics for a few more days. I’m just glad I don’t have to be nanny for this. I am however going to make Death Chicken tomorrow for dindin. Well, actually Ima make it tonight and heat it up tomorrow, since it is so dang good heated up. This means there will be Death Chicken bacon and rice for JoeDawg. For medicinal purposes only to help with the healing process, of course. We can’t have him thinking his nanny is spoilin’ him after all.
Yawn I feel sleepified. I really only have about another hour’s worth of work to get done today. Maybe a nappy poo will happen after that.
OK, now I have a fashion question. We’re going to a wedding this weekend of one of KT’s friends (the bride). She and her fiance are sort of free-spirit, almost-hippy types, and the wedding’s going to be very casual. However, I don’t want to go in jeans, and my only other pant-option would be khakis, which to me are the office-worker’s uniform so not really wedding - even casual wedding - attire.
So… I did a quick shopping trip over lunch and found a cute knee-length denim skirt. Denim = casual so that’s good and skirt = a little dressier than jeans so that’s good.
Now for the problem. What do I wear with it? Specifically what sort of shoes would go? I’ve got ankle-height brown boots, very casual high-heeled brown suede shoes, lace-up high-heeled black shoes, and 3 pairs of various low-heeled slides (2 brown, one black). That’s really it for my casual shoes. And, assuming they arrive, the black shoes I posted about last week. I think all of them look kind of silly with a skirt. But that’s just me. In general, what kind of shoes go with a knee-length denim skirt?
Five minutes till quit-o-clock! Then I walk the dog, goof off online, watch Pushing Daisies (new season tonight!) and go out for drinkification. And then I have to work tomorrow night. :smack:
I want gingerbread, but I’m still germy and contagious. Dang.
taxi, I’d probably opt for the brown boots or the suede heels if it was me - it all depends on what you’re wearing on top and how the skirt is cut, to be honest. Of course, this would’ve been a perfect occasion for flat Mary Janes but nooooo… someone just couldn’t listen to my advice.
There’s cake in the boardroom. For the second day in a row. I think they’re trying to make me fat.
Kidlet’s soccer game was canceled- more biblical rain this morning and the fields were sloppy! Didn’t find out until TimeKiller and I went to see the game, however! Hmmm.
So, everyone’s home early!
I’m doing the C25K thingy- today was Week 1 day 2 and I got it done.
I am stupidly proud of myself-- it’s only been two times but I’ve never been a runner. The fact that I actually have been running on the treadmill has me massively psyched. I’ve pushed myself to do something I’ve never done before and it feels so good!
Thanks for the shoe advice. Sorry… no Mary Janes. They’re just not me. I’ll have to try on the skirt with various sweaters at home (I’m the sweater maven so it’ll definitely be a sweater, not a blouse.) and see what shoes go best… or at least which look least awful. This is why I always doubt my fashion sense. I just can’t justify spending a ton of money on clothes so I always have outfits that sort of work but don’t quite hit the mark. Bleh. I dislike fashion. (Except for those two dresses I bought last week. They’re gonna look sexy! )
Rigs I’m loving to doo! I must get my hair cut and I will once I have the time and money to do so!
I finally added a pic of myself on flicker, unfortunately it was taken during my time of stress so it include my spot outbreak! My hair also looks ten shades darker too - perhaps it needed washed!
My 9 week old gunieas have began to show signs of dominant behaviour, its breaking my heart to watch and hear them being so mean. Hopefully it wont last too much longer and I can sleep at night not worrying!
Happy Hump Day!! This week is moving right along - yay!
I made an executive decision today - I’m taking off a week from Friday and the Tuesday following (since that Monday is the Columbus day holiday.) I just need some time off. Dunno what I’m going to do, but I’m not gonna do it at the office. So yay.
I’ve got a load in the washer, another in the dryer, and I’ve got to load the dishwasher. Don’t you wish you had my life?
I made another executive decision, this time with my sweetie. We’re going to get the HBO and Showtime packages for our cable. Because we don’t watch nearly enough TV.
Things have been crazy busy, so I haven’t had time to post.
rigsy, I like your hair.
I thought Special Agent was a boy too. How funny.
I’m sorry to read about all the Mumper pet troubles. Must be something floating around on the jet stream, I swear. My fish have ich, and my dog keeps doing stuff he knows is wrong!
taxi, wasn’t one of those dresses you bought a black turtleneck sweater type dress? Why don’t you dress it down with a wide belt and wear some boots with it?
Well, back to work. I swear to all that is good and holy, it feels like I’ve been here 24 hours!
Jem, you’re adorable - outbreak or no outbreak. I’m sure Lunch will be along shortly to provide additional compliments (I see Vundie has done his duty as the other token hetero man of the MMP)
After months and months of plotting, I finally bought my rain boots. YAY! I couldn’t find cute patterned ones in knee-high for some reason, so I’ve gone for the next best thing and splurged on a pair of Hunters in light gray. So now I’m ready for the ankle-deep slush puddles that plague our fair city all winter long… they’re calling for another brutally snowy winter this year, unfortunately.
My new boots and I are now home, where I’m pondering dinner. I’ll most like make a pot of chili because it feels like a chili kind of night, but the downside is that it would require that I do dishes first. I’m really not fond of making dishes.
…however, since The Boy just called to inform me that he’ll be home for dinner after all, maybe I’ll make him wash the dishes for me.
Another brutally snowy winter? Dammit! Oh, wait. This year I’ll be able to build snow forts with Attacks Husband. I wonder if his wife will participate, or if she’ll stand just inside the door, shivering, and telling us we’re crazy. Which we are. Mr. Lissar will be standing next to her, backing her up.
They don’t like playing in snow. They can babysit.
