Howdy all! Been a beautiful week so far here - temps during the daytime in the 70s and nighttime going into the high 40s. Sweet sleeping weather!
Last weekend, I decided to check into what I need to do to get my college degree. I went to college for 4 years, but did not graduate - I was 9-12 credits short, I needed 3 classes, I think, two of them very specific, related to my major (History). I owed on a student loan, and finally got that paid off a few years ago. Note to anyone who has student loans: pay them off, as soon as you can. do NOT ignore them, they do NOT go away. At any rate, I just wanted to know what I needed to do to be able to get my degree, if still possible. A few years ago, they had this elaborate process where you had to actually enroll in school again in order to get a counselor/advisor to tell me what I need for my degree. I decided it was too complicated plus I was still working then. And no longer in state. Well, now they will advise you either on the phone or via email or online. So, I sent them a brief email, and this morning I got a reply! They are looking at my transcripts (uh oh … :D), and will be back in touch with me. Unfortunately, I did not take college seriously enough until my senior year. It’s probably going to be a whole lot of hoops to jump through and seminar courses to take (yuck!), but at least I’m looking into it. Keep your fingers crossed for me, folks! At least I would be able to say I’m a college graduate, finally.
Oh, and can I be an orange-mango? I love the mango!
I think that’s what you call irony- an Australian, from the country where everything wants you dead, goes to Bali- home of lovely temples, and gets attacked by probably the only dangerous critter in the whole place…
Called parents, got reminded that today really was the trustee meeting, and attempted a 2 hour Skype meeting. This was made all the more joyous by the fact that my parents’ internet is so utterly rubbish that Mum once drove a mile home and looked up a phone number in her address book rather that wait for an email to load, oh, and their computer should possibly be in a museum, not an office.
It didn’t work, is what I’m in getting at. We had to call the landline, and get the three people there to pass the phone around…
Anyway, the next meeting’s in person, that should be easier, plus there might be cake.
Herbs cool about wantin’ to finish your degree! Go for it! Go You!
Dindin was salmon patties, smashed N.O.T., *English[/i[ peas and frozen bizkits which I very thoughtfully baked. It is too bakin’ cause I had to turn on the oven!
herbs, you may want to check out senior discounts for tuition. Some colleges begin those as young as 50, so if you have an AARP card, it’s worth a shot.
I got out of doc’ss office, stopped at the pharmacy with a script for surgery prep, voted early and had supper (a devine cheeseburger from Fat Mo’s and a salad from home). I think I shall retire to the studio to work on holiday cards.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis 51 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 82 for the day. Nice Fall day.
flytrap that looks like a picture of two Jewish men about to kiss.
Today shall be a day of paperirk, but that’s ok cause I have it planned that way. I shall survive.
Ok, that’s all I got. I need more caffiene and rumbly tummy demands to be fed. Then, irk purtification must commence alas. However, 'tis Firday so yay!
Good morning! A certain idiot dog made last night mostly unrestful. I’ll be glad when we get home and she sleeps in her crate again. But she’s been fed and she’s tended to her morning toilette so the day can begin once it’s light outside. The rest of the household is still asleep…
Our first pass-thru in Daytona was OK - I was really surprised at the number of trikes. I’m guessing the biker demographic is quite, um, mature. There was considerable geezerdom in leather. Of course, it was also a work day. I expect there will be younger folk when we return on Sat. **FCD **has 2 specific places in mind to check out. As for today, it’s chillage here at the house.
And it’s looking like we’ll do Thanksgiving 2 weeks early this year. **FCD **will be doing Career Day at Daughter’s school on Nov 18. Rather than hang around here 2 weeks, we’re going to do turkey dinner the weekend before that, then after he does his career speech, we’ll head back home before the stoopidity of holiday traffic begins in earnest. Which means we may be able to do turkey with my family also. Or we may just chill at home - we shall see.
Turns out FIL will go from the hospital to a facility for PT for several weeks, so we won’t be hanging around to get him settled at home. Dunno if we’ll leave here earlier or not - kinda depends on what my sweetie wants to do. Not that it matters - we’re retired. We don’ need no steenkin’ schedule!
Helped a mate move some stuff this morning, then did most of the work I’ve been putting off at the allotment- strimming the grass, turning the compost heap, and planted some garlic as well, then went on a foraging mission- collected just under 3 kilos of chestnuts, to share around and cook with.
I’m not actually massively keen on chestnuts, but it seems most of my friends are, and there’s a few recipes I want to try. They’re massive this year, I just can’t leave 'em to go to waste.
