A house only Prince & the Grapist could love. Newslink

<sings> Pur-pule HOUSE! Pur=ple Hooouuusseee…!</sings>

33…thousand? for a house? With land under it?

Damn.

I’ve always wanted to paint my house purple. I’d have choosen a darker shade.

Phooey, I grew up with the Purple Lady! She always wore purple, her mailbox and interior and toilet paper was purple, even her husband wore purple. She was an awfully nice person, very friendly, and every so often someone would come and film her. I was at work once when two French guys were filming her right outside, and she gave me her calling card, which was purple and said “The Purple Lady” on it.

We used to host exchange students from Japan pretty often–for a few weeks–and we would take them and their friends by the place and watch them freak out and take pictures.

Oh, I forgot, her hair was also lilac.

I pass that house from time to time, it’s about 10 minutes from where I live. It’s kinda neat the first time you see it, but the thing is a friggin’ eyesore, that picture doesn’t do it justice.

The Grapist?

Ahhh, KidScruffy, so young and innocent you never even got to know The Grapist

The Central Park purple people would love that house.

Why do we purple people always get such a bad rap?

I mean, I only painted the shutters on my house purple, the rest was grey. And, all of my carpet wasn’t purple, one bedroom had pink carpet instead. The walls? Lavender, beige, and dark purple. See? Everything in moderation? My dishes, glassware, and placemats were all purple. Oh yeah, also my hair.

Of course, these days, I’m fairly well reformed. The house has been sold and the color scheme has changed. And I only have a small streak of purple hair that you’d have to look really hard to find. (I have very long, thick hair and have hidden my purple streak in order to maintain a somewhat professional appearance.)

What’s wrong with purple, anyways?

There was a purple house near the Rolling Acres Mall when I used to live in Akron. And there was a pink house a block or two away. I wonder if they’res till there.

Ha! I live in Akron and people always used to ask me if I was the purple man’s (who lived in the aforementioned purple house) daughter.
ETA: Don’t know if the house is still there, though. I don’t travel that way too often.

Forgive me if I seem ignorant here, but what’s so unusual about a purple house? Houses can be any colour, surely. Apart from in those communities run by committee with sticks up their arses.

I like the purple house . . . very unlike the iridescent, day-glo, shocking pink one of my neighbors chose. She liked the little 2x2" sample from the paint store, and didn’t stop to think what an entire house (+ garage) would look like in that color. I think you can see her house from space.

My very small home town had the rainbow house. It was painted in different colors, mostly pastels, horizontally from top to bottom. I never could find out why they painted it that way but it was a must see attraction when we had people visit from out of town.

Awesome. He graped those threads. Graped them right in the mouth…

At least he didn’t tie them to the radiator and grape them.

There was a house I’d pass on the way to high school that I called the Barbie Doll House. I’m trying to remember here… I think it was dark purple with magenta and blue trim. Something like that.

There was a house like that near my high school as well. You didn’t happen to grow up on Long Island did you?

Nope. Maybe your Long Island Barbie-person moved to New Jersey?

Barbie’s Haunted Mansion

Somebody painted and decorated a beautiful 1880s Victorian house in nauseous Barbie pink. These rehabbers have bought it and are determined to restore it to its 19th century beauty.
