Little pink houses...

Ok, so most of y’all probably didn’t read the House Painting thread in IMHO where I mentioned that I was painting my house hot pink with mango and dark olive trim. Well, I did, just this past week. And here it is: pink house!! (please ignore the horrible need for a good weed whacking, it was freakin’ 35  and sleeting in Austin this past weekend so the lawn looks miserably untidy)

Damn, that looks great!

That is certainly an eye-catching house.

Thanks! I know it’s as obnoxious as heck and I’m sure my neighbors think I’m nuts but I’ve always wanted a little pink house. (although, truthfully, the pink turned out even brighter than I anticipated… )

That’s pink, all right. Very pink. I like it, that’s my favorite color.

I would totally want to be friends with a person who lived in a house like that!

That’s one way to put it. That is an incredibly bright shade for a house. It looks pretty good though.

I have sheets that color! I call it Rabid Barbie Pink. I love your house and just think… The pizza guy will never have trouble with your delivery!

Yup, that’s pink. You obviously do not live within a Homeowner’s Association neighbourhood.

Looks great! It makes me want watermelon.

Wow! I think watermelon and Rabid Barbie about cover it. No-one will have trouble finding your place, that’s for sure.

When I rented a room in Oshawa, I tried to convince the owner of the house to paint the windowframes rainbow-coloured. He wouldn’t go for it.

I think it looks awesome–very creative!

[del]Of course, I’d be a mean person on April Fool’s Day or Hallowe’en and put up candy-shaped and marshmallow-shaped ornaments all over, but then I’m a bad person… ;)[/del]

This song starting running in my brain, while reading this: Little Boxes

I like it. It’s interesting. I think it works for the architectural style of your house in a way that it might not for a ranch house or a colonial. I think that the trimwork was a good color choice for the house.

What color are the neighboring houses? Funny enough, I was driving around last week looking at house colors and seeing what combinations work and which ones don’t, and I must have seen at least seven or eight pink houses, one of which was aggressively pepto-bismol pink with matching pink trim. Except for pepto bismol house, the rest of them didn’t really stand out all that much.

Did you use a high gloss, semi-gloss or flat? To me it looks like you used a semi gloss?

Did your contractor open up that wall for the exterior door yet?

Tacky as Hell!

I LOVE it!

Screaming pink! Whoa! Your neighbors haven’t burned a cross on your yard or anything? Well, fuck 'em, I say. I love when people are allowed by law to express themselves with color. WooHOO!

Nope, it’s an ancient neighborhood and I’d like to see 'em try. The house next door still has chickens and, truthfully, a lot of my neighborhood is Mexican so my house doesn’t really look that out of place.

It’s a flat paint but it rained last night so there’s bit of a sheen. And the green is actually a bit more olive and less evergreen than it looks wet. I’m still waiting on the door I special ordered to come in but the painter guy was anxious to get started (and get paid) so he promised that they’ll come back and finish out the new door and trim when it’s installed. I also think I’m gonna paint the porch floor to match the house, I think it looks weird leaving it grey like I did.

I love it - reminds me of houses in the Caribbean. Very cool!

Seeing that your photostream includes a pink rug and a pink comforter (?) it seems that must be your favorite color?

Actually like it more than I thought before seeing the pic. I’d be nervous going that bright, but the trim looks good. Reminds me of a bungalow nearby that’s painted orange, peach, and green, with a red door. Sounds crazy, but looks good.

Of course, I live in a gay South Beach Art Deco apartment…
