If I were you, I’d paint the porch pink to match the house. Have you thought about painting the chain link fence?
No, you decorate the chain link fence! Various themes are available.
Or you can do it yourself with styrofoam cups.
Or you can do what the guy across the street from me did: http://new.photos.yahoo.com/karlen1956/photo/294928804322927223/0
We originally entitled it “Scary Rabbit” but have since found out that’s not what it is. Any guesses as to what this sculpture represents?
This is chainsaw art at its tacky finest. It stands 7 feet tall and it scares us every time we leave our driveway.
Whoa.
Is it a zebra? And if so, why?
No. I’ll allow time for a few more guesses before I let you know.
Well, tremorviolet if I happen across your house in my travels, I’ll stop by and say hi. Probably won’t have any trouble spotting it
Sharp house! Far better looking bright pink than if you had gone with a lighter/milder shade.
Just curious - how do you expect those bright colors to hold up in that bright Tejas sun?
I’m guessing a white tiger. Part of me wants that to put in my front yard for a week to see what the neighbors say, but then I would have to look at it as well.
It’s gotta be a tiger.
I live an a neighborhood with an HOA. I doubt any of this would get past 'em.
Tiger it is! I don’t think it looks even remotely like a tiger, but you should’ve seen them out there checking out how it looked from every angle. They were positively giddy. I keep hoping one of my guests will back out of my driveway at 100 mph and take it out. From my seat here in front of my desk, it appears to be peeking out from behind a tree at me…watching my every keystroke. On the other hand, I’d be more annoyed if I lived in a community that thought they had the right to tell them to take it down.
Plus, they haven’t commented on Mr. K’s Korner O’ Krap that he keeps beside the garage. Aesthetic Tolerance is a two-way street.
I think I’m gonna do that, it looks weird like I left it. Pink around the bottom and I’ll use a good grey proch paint for the floor. I still need to do a little skirting replacement (I’m using hardisoffit which makes a great vented skirting) so I’ve got soem touch ups I’ll ahve to do anyway.
I haven’t decided what to do about the chain link yet. It’s in great shape and was well-installed; it’s too bad I don’t have a dog and don’t need one. I’m trying to figure out a way to reuse the posts and maybe have some sort of picket fence. I"m thinking I can build a box around the pole to look like a post and then have scalloped pickets in between. But that’s is a ways off. First I need to construct the patio area out of pavers, get my shed ($$), and do some landscaping.
Yeah, I’ve been kinda on a hot pink kick for the last few years. I disdained pink for most of my life 'cause I thought it was too wimpy and “girly” until I finally realized “hey, I am a girl, I can like pink, dang it.”
Who cares about the house? All I want to know is, can I have your shoes, the organizer and will you come organize the rest of my stuff?
Seriously, good job on the house. It is aggressively pink, but the trim works really well with the main color.
We have (or had, I really haven’t looked lately) lots of the pale pink variety of house around here, but this house created quite a bit of comment when it was first painted, mainly because you can see it from the highway. There’s a long story behind the Romanian artist who designed it, and the renters who painted it, and it has faded quite a bit in the past two years. It may not be around much longer.
That house doesn’t just catch eyes. It rounds them up, sends them to Gitmo, and interrogates them.
And yet, it looks good.
That is awesome! Well done.
When I first got my newest camera, I stopped off on my way to work one day and took pics of interesting sights. This place (which I thought was a home but turns out to be a dentist’s office) will fit in nicely here.
I need to stop tomorrow and take a picture of the striped house and post it. It was more garish a year ago when it was yellow and green.
There is a grand old neighborhood near where I used to work. Very nice homes, all very serene and tasteful. No HOA because they neighborhood was built in the 1920s. A family moved in and painted their house Barney the Dinosaur purple and green. I wish I had pictures for you, but before I had a chance to take one, someone burned it down. It was ruled arson. The family was out of town when it burned and none of the neighbors saw anything. Or so they say. It is still unsolved.
Well, ain’t that America? Something to see, yeah…
What, no Mellencamp fans here?
Calgary is embracing the 50-shades-of-beige mono-coloured HOA suburbs with a vengeance; I just love the look of that house. It would do my heart good to see something like that in the middle of Beigeburbia.
