A Hulu question

I’m not 100% certain but I think I’ve recently seen some shows available on Hulu that haven’t been broadcast on television yet. Is this true or have I just not been paying enough attention?

Are you talking about original programming or episodes of existing shows that are shown on Hulu before they are broadcast?

New episodes of broadcast shows. Specifically, I think I’ve recently seen episodes of Scandal and Don’t Trust the B in Apt 23 that could be watched on Hulu before they were broadcast.

Did you actually watch them, or just see them listed? I ask because I’ve seen the teasers for upcoming episodes of some shows on Hulu before.

I’m pretty sure Touch and Awake were available on Hulu before they were broadcast on TV; and if it wasn’t Hulu, they were available on some other legal service like iTunes.

Some pilots(like Awake) have probably been available weeks before they air on TV.

I remember Veronica Mars season 3 premiere was online about 2 weeks before it aired on TV, but this was before Hulu(or at least was not on Hulu). It was on the official web site.

I remember seeing the ads for Apt 23 on Hulu. They were specifically promoting the pilot full episode in order to try and build a fan base before it aired on TV. Don’t know how well it worked for them. Wouldn’t having people see the episode already make them less likely to watch on premier day?

It might, but the point is to have people see it on Hulu, then tell all their friends to watch the premiere. Also, if it’s just for the pilot, a certain number of theses who watched on Hulu will watch the second episode.
