Do shows stream live on Hulu? Can I watch Lost tonight in real time?

My new mountain home is at 8000 ft and I am having a moral dilema with getting satellite T.V. We do not watch a lot of TV at all, but if we want to watch the few shows we do like, i.e. Lost, then we need a TV.

That being said, we do have highspeed internet and a hulu account. Can I watch the latest Lost tonight on Hulu? Do I have to wait until a certain time for the show to come on? I hope I don’t have to wait 24hrs…

Any ideas if Hulu doesn’t stream live where we can watch it?

No. It varies from show to show, but there’s usually a one week delay.

Ok, so tonight’s lost episode will be on next week?

Yeah. It’ll probably be posted on ABC.com sooner than Hulu.

Good Call! Thank you!

Is that right? I only watch a couple of shows (The Office and The Simpsons), but both are available on Hulu the day after broadcast.

Depends on the specific rights Hulu has to the show, I think. I watch Castle and Stargate: Universe on Hulu, and used to watch The Daily Show and Colbert Report before Comedy Central took them off. All but SGU are/were on Hulu the day after broadcast, and SGU is the only one that delays by a week.

Lost will be on Hulu in the morning. I’ve checked as late as 4 a.m., and it hasn’t been posted yet, but it’s always there by 9 or 10 Wednesday morning.

If I might hijack for a moment…

How much, or would you even be willing to pay for live streaming of a television network?

I think I know where you are going with this and, NO. It’s a bit of a knee jerk response, but the internet is free by in large so more people will use it. It it were free, I’d watch. However, consumerism trumps most things in our society, so free shows on open networks via the internet seems a far off dream.

I’d pay up to $2/hour. i.e. I’d pay $6-8 for a football game.

I’d add the stipulation that it be commercial-free, if I’m paying to watch. Although personally I’d rather pay nothing and have it ad-supported.

Wasn’t really going anywhere, just a discussion we’ve had at work. I don’t think I’d pay for live streaming. However, if a show were streamed live, even with commercials, I’d watch; figuring the computer was the only available means of watching.

Can anybody else not find last night’s Lost on Hulu? Not having a TV, I generally watch new episodes on Hulu the morning after they air on ABC, but it’s not there today, and the ABC.com version refuses to load properly. (It generously lets me watch a commercial before showing me a black screen, although I’ve watched entire seasons on abc.com before.)

And now, after an hour of trying, it’s suddenly up on Hulu again. Ignore my post above, please.

It wouldn’t bother me - I’d just assume it was the same broadcast as on TV. The lack of such an option is the only thing currently keeping me with a cable contract. I should just cut the cord eventually.
