A Job Well Done

I just put the final touches on my bathroom work. I can’t exactly call it a “remodeling” since it has the original sink, cabinet and toilet, and no walls were knocked out or moved, but I took out the ridiculous nearly-complete-but-not-quite chair rail, stripped out 3 layers of wallpaper, plastered up a 2’x2’ hole that had previously been covered up by a friggin’ hardback book cover, replaced all the shut-off valves, installed a new toilet flange, and painted. And it only took me roughly 45 trips to the hardware store, a new personal best*! But I’m done, I have a beer, and I’m quite pleased.

I’m positive the toilet will be crashing through the ceiling of the bathroom below at 3am due to some manner of negligence. I’ll keep you updated.
*I will not say whether that’s an all-time high or all-time low…

Excellent! I am sure your toilet will stay in place. I am looking forward to tackling my front bathroom one of these days.

Satisfying, isn’t it? We did a half-bath remodel that took entirely too long, but we stripped out everything, including the tile. Then we had the insane idea to build a bathroom sink out of a garbage can (long story), and the end product is far better than it should be, but it took a while.
