A lifetime dog person is considering a future cat (UPDATE with photos)

So, about a week ago I chatted with you lovely people about bringing a “future” cat into my life “at some point”.

Meet Daphne. I brought her home on Saturday after a meeting in which she ran directly to me and flopped on her back for belly rubs. She’s the sweetest, most social little thing. She and the dog are neutral, and feeling each other out, at this point, but I think all will be well. I really think having a companion will make a big difference for him. <3

A rare moment when she’s not rubbing up against me

swwww ….

Welcome to the Wonderful World of Cats (yes, it’s her world, you’re just living in it). She’s adorable.

Beautiful!

I’m learning that quickly. I’m used to blind obedience and subservience, and that’s…not happening.

She has the eyes of a cartoon princess.

You could try seeing how far you can get into training her; Training a dog is the easy step that is in fact your training and next comes the real challenge: Training a cat.

Dear Og that first picture is amazing. I love Daphne. How could I not, with those eyes and that beautiful grey tabby pattern? You’re a lucky human, MoonMoon! (And Daphne is a lucky cat!)

We have a cat and a dog who are BFFs.Definitely adopt Daphne; she is a beauty.

Oh, she’ll have you trained soon. She’s lovely! I’m so glad you found each other!

Lovely cat, lovely name.

I’ve always wanted four cats, named Phoebe, Daphne, Chloe, and Zoey. Right now I have a cat named Zoey. If I steal Daphne away from you, only two cats to go to achieve my dream…

It’s funny-- I had always had cats, and when I got my first dog at age 40 (my age, not the dog’s), the “blind obedience and subservience” really unnerved me. She followed me everywhere and always seemed to be waiting for instructions. I was used to being completely ignored.

Love the second picture. You can hear her thinking, ‘In me powerrrrrrrr…’

You shall receive double blessings from Bast for adopting an adult.

Those eyes speak volumes.

One thing about cats. One cat is pretty attentive to their human. If you get 2 cats, they will be together most of the time. If you get a 3rd cat, they will form their own society, and you will be relegated to a litter box changer, and caterer. Another tip - put old towel under the litter box, so the walk on it getting out. Some folks use carpet, but towels are easy to clean and change. Good luck.

She’s lovely. May you have many wonderful years together.

(Don’t be fooled into tummy rubs. It’s a trap! ;))

What a cutie.

That’s what I’ve heard, so I was very suspicious. It seems she really does want tummy rubs, though! I’m careful not to overstimulate, and so far so good. She’s definitely a love biter, though. She likes to do the gentlest little mouthings of my hand when she’s really happy. I’m still wary, but ::heart eyes::

thats it - she’s been adopted. You are now hopelessly a cat person.

Cats are vicious bloodthirsty godless murderous furbeasts. They like to trick their future prey into thinking they are servants.

Cats are like 14 month old toddlers. They are the center of the universe and they want what they want NOW. And they have no sense of humor. These traits make them endless sources of amusement.

Oh, never doubt that you are now owned.

Love nibbles! That’s what I call Ursala Kitteh’s gentle nomming of my hand.
