So I’ve had 75 of these. Hmmm. Normally I score higher on this sort of thing, but I’ve never heard of some of this stuff, and some of the ones I often see on lists like this are missing (e.g., lutefisk, turtle soup, horse, ostrich…).

I’ve definitely had:

  1. Baklava
  2. Barbecue Ribs
  3. Biscuits and Gravy
  4. Calamari
  5. Clam Chowder
  6. Crab Cakes
  7. Fish Tacos
  8. Fried Catfish
  9. Fried Plantain (actually, I don’t think it was ever fried, but I’ve had plantain served in several different ways, so I’m counting it)

  12. Goat
  13. Gumbo
  14. Heirloom Tomatoes
  15. Hostess Fruit Pie
  16. Key Lime Pie (including once in Key West)
  17. Lobster (although I’ve never eaten a whole lobster, I’ve had lobster ravioli, plus chunks of the meat in other dishes)
  18. Philly Cheese Steak (not in Philadelphia proper, but in Main Line suburbs)
  19. Pistachio Ice Cream
  20. Polenta
  21. Raw Oysters
  22. Root Beer Float
  23. S’mores
  24. Sauerkraut
  25. Spaetzle
  26. Spam
  27. Sweet Potato Fries
  28. Venison

So 28 for me. Ones I think – but am not sure – I’ve had include caviar (in salads and spreads), chicken tikka masala (I’ve eaten at several Indian buffets), fresh spring rolls (I know I’ve had basic Chinese buffet spring rolls), goulash (depends how authentic a recipe you have in mind), morels (I do eat a lot of mushrooms), sea urchin (depends if the stuff labeled that at the local Chinese buffet really was the echinoderm in question), and soft-shell crab (as other answers indicate, I do like my seafood).

Have had:

ETA- I think that is 67

Here’s my list, along with my feelings about each item. When I didn’t know what something on the original list was, I assumed that I haven’t had it. That’s likely, but not certain, to be correct.

  1. Abalone. Yummy.
  2. Absinthe. Why would anyone ever drink this drain cleaner?
  3. Baba Ghanoush. OK.
  4. Bagel and Lox. A breakfast staple here in NYC.
  5. Baklava. I lived for years in NY’s Greek neighborhood, so, yeah.
  6. Barbecue Ribs. Slow cook them myself.
  7. Bellini. Sure.
  8. Biscuits and Gravy. Excellent for breakfast.
  9. Black Pudding. Love it. Also blood sausage, more or less the same thing.
  10. Black Truffle. Yep.
  11. Borscht. Nice.
  12. Calamari. My favorite appetizer in an Italian restaurant.
  13. Caviar. Nice on crackers with cream cheese. Really.
  14. Cheese Fondue. Boring.
  15. Chicken and Waffles (together, at the same time). Yes indeed. A classic.
  16. Chicken Tikka Masala. Not a huge fan of Indian food.
  17. Chile Relleno. Or Mexican food.
  18. Chitlins. Had to try it. Disgusting.
  19. Churros. Nice for snacking.
  20. Clam Chowder. Manhattan or New England? I like Manhattan better.
  21. Cognac. Some of them are truly wonderful. Some are less so.
  22. Crab Cakes. OK.
  23. Dulce De Leche. Very sweet.
  24. Durian. Actually not bad.
  25. Eel. Don’t like it.
  26. Eggs Benedict. Boring. Ordinary breakfast food.
  27. Fish Tacos. Depends on where you get them, but can be great.
