Candyboi, welcome to the pit. This is what to expect when you post on this particular board. If someone finds fault with your post, they are free (nay, encouraged) to be as harsh as they please.
I recomend that you be much more careful with your typing. What you posted was so horribly written that… well if the grammar police hadn’t beat me to the scene of the crime, I would have done the same thing.
But everyone else has already used my fav flames so I’ll just offer this advice:
If you don’t want to get flamed, stay out of the Pit.
Now I’m going to probably get fried for being so fucking nice…
Hey Candyboi, just chill a little. Spelling and grammar are kind of something you will get flamed for down here. It’s a good idea that you can use quotes from people to show a little bit about what you’re complaining about, but you need to try a little harder to get them right. So far I think you’re a normal angry teenager like many of us out there.
Iampunha: Leave him alone for now. I think you’ve gotten your point across, as well as others have. He’s new, and he’s gonna fuck up a bit before he gets used to this board.
Candyboi - I think a lot faster than I type or maybe I type a lot faster than I think, I dunno. Either way, my brain and my fingers don’t seem to work in sync most of the time. I do try to proofread my posts, but a lot of the time I miss things. In fact, there are very few of my posts that do not have a typo, misspelled word, or mangled grammar. I am in dire need of a SDMB Secretary. However, I do try my damnedest to get my point across in the most coherent way.
I hope you stick around, but I would suggest that you try really hard to work on your spelling and grammar, otherwise people won’t read the things that you write. Those who do will use your mistakes as flame material or to make fun of you. If you make an honest effort, I am sure people will cut you some slack when you mess up every now and then.
Oh, and just a rant to those who slammed Candyboi for his screen name - Is it opens season for those with stupid sounding screen names? Please let me know so I can load my shotgun. It is one thing to attack grammar, spelling, and content of a post, but attacking a screen name (with the exception of offensive names) is just plain chicken shit.
I’d like to point out to the people who rode in like the cavalry to save poor little Candyboi from the Pit that he did start 3 threads in the Pit. One of them had an OP that was basically CB saying “Please hand me my ass, extra crispy.”
This thread, as I’ve noted, doesn’t seem to have a point. Since this is the Pit, flames will be made. And since the OP doesn’t have a topic to flame, the job of target devolves onto CB.
And the original, “High school isn’t fair”, thread was pretty much doomed. If you post in the Pit, flames come. Hopefully, they’re ontopic. But it’s more fun to flame about something that bothers you, instead of sympathy burning someone’s high school for them. And it’s more fun to flame someone who can fight back. And CandyBoi once more made an easy target because the OP had atrocious spelling.
So here we are. CB is being flamed in his own threads. He started them, he should have expected it. If he didn’t, he doesn’t understand the forum rules, and he is being rapidly educated. If he did, then he came here to be singed and is getting his dollar’s worth.
Either way, he doesn’t need to be ‘rescued.’

(And kel, I’ve been around. Mostly lurking. Not too much to say, and busy with the new girlfriend.)
Umm… I’m might get flamed for this, but who cares.
Why is Candyboi using boi to show his “gothness” stupid? Obviously, it is an intergrated part of who he is, why shouldn’t he use it? Personaly, Relic has a lot to do with who I am, for example; the way my first name is pronounced is ‘R-E-L,’ and my boyfriend was the first to call me Relic, and it stuck. I’m sure all of you have reasons for you’re screen names, too.
Sorry, my name means a lot to me, so I have to defend others.
Wewlcome from another newbie, Candyboi, I like you.
You know, when I first joined the Board, no one liked my name. It had too much punctuation in it. And Satan gave me some good advice-- “If they don’t like it, fuck 'em.” If Candyboi doesn’t like someone knocking his name, he is free to tell them to fuck off. He doesn’t you to protect him from me.
But really, I don’t really give a fuck about CandyBoi, or his screenname specifically, as I’ve never seen anything he posted outside the Pit.
I just think that using alternate spellings to indicate membership in a subgroup is stupid. If, for instance, gays called themselves ‘strayts’, it would be a huge pain in the ass.
Now, since most goths are whiny adolescents in too much make-up who think they’re deep because they’re depressed, their mangling of the language to suit their whims isn’t as big a deal as my hypothetical.
But it’s still stupid.
The difference is only apparent in writing. In normal conversation, you can’t see the “oi”… I dunno, maybe CB walks around making little air-quotes to distinguish between ‘boy’ and ‘boi’, but that would be stupider so I hope not.
It would be much better if goths made up their own damn word instead of a fucked-up spelling. Or maybe just say ‘Goth’, since this word exists. ‘CandyGoth’ be a name just as good if not better than CB, in my opinion.
But that’s my opinion. And you are free to tell me to shove it up my ass.
–John
(I did eventually change my screenname, because the punctuation fucked up the autofill on the login box.)
Gays calling themselves “strayts”? Don’t you mean “straights” calling themselves “strayts”? I mean, isn’t “boy” the same thing as “boi” but with just a different spelling?
The only pain in the ass that I see is if you call a “gay”, “devirginized”.
You know John, I agree that Candyboi needs to improve his writing like, oh say 100%, but I do think it is chicken shit to attack the spelling of his screen name. No one here has to get your stamp of approval before they register. If he wants to call himself KandyBouy, who really gives a shit?
I just wonder why I haven’t seen you attack those who SHOULD be known as Mind Fucker, Mr. X, Pseudonym, Great Cat, and many others.
Diane, near as I can tell, no one has a problem with the screen name. It’s the use of “Boi” IRL to denote a member of the “goth subculture” that I find laughable (and I think Yue Han does too).
In this thread, at least, it was CB who brought it up.
Good God, people. Give the kid a break. It doesn’t take a stretch of the imagination to understand what CandyBoi is saying. Yes, he makes mistakes. Big fucking schmeel. By the way, if you are going to correct his posts, KelliBelli, try not to make yourself look like an ass by missing things.
