A little help with Russian

I’m trying to learn the language and seeing how there isn’t a large Russian speaking population in my area I would like a few pointers now and then.Mainly(for now) on pronunciation to make sure I got it right.

Only question I have right now would be about the Russian word “tyt”. Is that pronounced close to how english speakers would say “toot”?

I will certainly have other questions as the weeks go by or if any of ya’ll could point me to a good cite with audio that would help also.Thanks.

Yes, it sounds like “toot”.

Russian Lessons .Net has some pretty good lessons, and a few audio articles and sound clips. About a month ago, someone in the Mini Rants thread mentioned that he/she uses it to study, so there’s another Doper out there who found it helpful.
