A love for cookbooks: An Epicurean MMP

Hi! How’d that happen?

Oh damn, Doggio. I’m so sorry to read about Nellie.

Hi **LOUNE! ** Nice to see you back!

I’m also sorry to see about all the lay-offs occurring. Keeping my fingers crossed for all of you.

Congrats on being all certified and such, Swampy. I just paid my cell phone bill yesterday, so don’t contact me, okay?

It’s was another hellacious week at work. There’s a lot of uncertainty going on because of this regionalization thing. People aren’t sure who they’re supposed to report to, people aren’t sure if they’re going to regional staff or staying as MTF staff, there are egos, etc. For so long, we’ve been dual-hatted as both region and MTF staff. Now, we’re getting another layer beauracracy. My office has always been dual-hatted. Now, we don’t know what’s going on. Are we being split up, are we losing our boss, are we going to region? Questions abound. Now, multiply those worries by hundreds of people.

Time for some more wake-the-hell-up.

I dunno.

On a related note, I HATE Facebook. It couldn’t be more useless and time consuming for what it’s supposed to do.

OMG, doggio!! I’m sorry all that stuff is happening. I hope Nelly is OK. You’ve been missed. I wondered where all the groping went.

:groping doggio:

Feel better soon!

{{{doggio}}} Thinking lots of come-home-soon thoughts for Nellie. Poor pup. :frowning:

Sorry about the issues with the release, gt. Been there, done that, and am glad I won’t have to worry about another one until 18 mths from now at the earliest. Did you manage to push it through or will you have to reschedule for another date?

As for me, it’s a grey and rainy day in Pizzaville, and I’ve got a severe case of the blurfs. I got to spend a chunk of my morning catching up on some work stuff I couldn’t find the time to finish at work this week, mostly because I’m stuck in training all next week and certainly won’t get much time to do work then. Also, the alternative was cleaning house… and quite frankly, even pivot charts are more entertaining that housework.

So sorry about Nelly, doggio. We were all thinking she’d been gone since Wednesday of this week, but since last week… Extra :(:(:frowning: And hugs.

Back home again. Tired. The worst part of this morning was that I slept really poorly last night and finally fell asleep for a longer stretch starting at 4:30, so the boss woke me up. (Normally I wake up on Saturdays anywhere between 6:30 and 7:30.)

We had to reschedule, Muppet. It was a major system implementation that involved more than 24 hours of work to do conversion from the legacy system, run extra batch processes and do system verification in all the ancillary systems. Since the power outage hit during our batch processes and we had to take the entire network down and then bring it back up again after power came back this morning, we thought it was better to delay. It’s looking like next weekend, since we get into the holidays after that. It’s not an ideal weekend, but it’s better than one where we had to recover from a complete outage. (They even evacuated our building, so everything was literally down and unattended for over 5 hours.)

I’m exhausted, so I’ma crawl into bed for a while.

GT

Countertops installed - finally! And they don’t quite fit - seems our walls aren’t exactly square… Oh well, that’s what trim molding is for.

I’ve got tuna steaks marinating for supper. The kids have been cleaning the fireplace in the basement - it looks good. We had rain this morning, then a very very mild afternoon (got up over 70) then it poured when **FCD **and I were coming back from Lowe’s, but it’s stopped now. Cold front coming thru and possible freeze to follow.

Thinking of making a chocolate cake - should I??

I’m starting to hate Facebook because it’s an overly bloated piece of crap website that takes up too much of my browser’s processing thanks to all those shite “apps.” Which reminds me, I need to weed my friends list there.

{{{{{{{{doggio}}}}}}}} Here’s hoping Nelly will be waiting for you when you get home tonight, healthy and with a lot of stories to tell about her Great Trip Outside.

Huh. I HATE MySpace. I greatly prefer Facebook.

I’m a LiveJournal gal myself. More words, less crap!

Me too. I’ve looked at MySpace and Facebook and neither interests me at all. And lately, I hardly bother with LJ either. I just don’t waste as much time on line as I used to.

Cake is in the oven. Once it’s done, I’ll get dinner going. Supper should be yum. Doncha wish you were here??

Facebook has been a lot of fun for what I ask of it.

Dinner is in the oven–

I threw this together with what I had around:

Chicken breasts baked over leek, celery and mushroom stuffing

Acorn squash rings baked with brown sugar, cinnamon, cloves and butter, S&P

Mashed potatoes.

Canned cranberry sauce.

Why yes, I felt like Thanksgiving tonight…

Poor gt… and poor conversion team too. Looks like Murphy decided to play a rather mean trick on you guys. Hope next weekend runs smoother.

It’s still raining outside and The Boy is still stuck on-set until god knows when, so I’m going to park my bum in front of the idiot box and watch some bad movies with the kitties and a mug of tea to keep me company. Some of FCM’s chocolate cake would be quite welcome too - have we figured out how to email baked goods yet? Someone should totally get on that.

I’ll take some cake too, please!

Ok, so I’ve paid a few bills, but there’s still more work to be done. Too bad I’m lazy.

I’ll take some cake too - I can’t believe you questioned whether or not to make a chocolate cake, FCM :smack:

The ads on web sites seem to be grating on my very last nerve these days. The talking ones are especially annoying. As much as I enjoy watching the cable show Mad Men, geeze louise, Madison Avenue, please take a chill pill, especially with regard to the Internet!!

Where oh where is Ms. Hazelnutcoffee?!

Supper was yum - I loves me some tuna steak! Cake is baked and frosted - chocolate butter cake with half milk chocolate frosting and half cream cheese frosting. We are now going to watch Best Little Whorehouse in Texas on DVD. Laterz!!!

Since I figured that nobody would be sending me cake I decided to break down and make the Eagle Brand Dessert Thingy that I had in the cupboard. It’s got a graham cracker/pecan crust with a chocolatey filling, caramel sauce and pecans. Not as good as homemade I suspect, but better than a sharp stick in the eye. Also, for dinner we are having buffalo chicken and french fries. The timer’s set to go off in about 5 minutes.

After that I suppose it will be time to watch this week’s episode of Knight Rider. TVMan’s already seen it, but I missed it.

Can’t help you with Haze’s whereabouts, but I am here to solve your ad problem once and for all! First off, go here and install Firefox. Don’t argue, just do it! Okay, now that you have Firefox installed, go here and install Adblock and Flashblock. Adblock will ask you about adding filters, go for easylist–easy, huh? If for some reason it doesn’t do this, go to Tools > Add ons > Adblock > Options > Filters > Add filter subscriptions > view all subscriptions and add easylist. Then set Firefox as your default browser.

Congratulations, your days of seeing ads are over. Ads no longer exist for you. Annoying noisy Flash elements have been replaced by a tasteful little “F” button on the page that you can decide to click or not, as you wish.

Also, there are literally thousands of neat, useful little add ons to do pretty much anything–feel free to browse, install, configure, uninstall, as many as you wish. Firefox is the most amazingly customizable browser ever. I like the Noia Extreme theme for its large and colorful buttons, colorful tabs and the tab previewer and Google previewer as the most absolutely necessary utilities.

You’re welcome!

The cake was OK, but not great. I followed the directions on the box rather than making my usual jazzed up mix cake. I’ll not make that mistake again.

Almost bed time. I need a good night’s sleep.

I already use Firefox, but not these add ons. Wonderful! Thank you!
