A love for cookbooks: An Epicurean MMP

Mmm, cake!

I am attempting to lure the Snow Gods into doing their thing by today having bought my very first actual snow shovel. Please give me reason to use it! (Yeah, I say that now, I’m not looking forward to actually doing it, but we neeeeeeeeeed the snow!)

I adore Adblock. If I could only have it at work. sigh

I cleaned the bathroom, the kitchen and the litter box. Still no pup.

Soapy, sounds like a good dinner. I bought my Thanksgiving Cornish Hen today.

: gropes Roo :

Hey, doggio! ::waves::

Yeah…I was going to say that dinner sounded really good, Soapy. Maybe I’ll make something similar tomorrow.

What does The Boy do, Muppet? Something with videos, if memory serves, but I don’t remember reading what type of job.

I hardly ever go to Facebook, but I’m there under my screen name from here, mostly so that I can look at stuff that people link. I’m not doing lots on the Net right now because both laptops are still out of commission. I was going to take care of the one that’s under warranty today, but best laid plans and all that.

Just had my last work-related call of the evening, I hope.

Guess I’ll try to get back to sleep (I think the call woke me up…).

Happy Saturday night everyone!

GT

Morning!

I’m awake for awhile at least.

Hi, Pie. Semi-awake here. Stoopit little dog started barking just after 6, so I had to get up and take her out. And I discovered that the front came thru - it was barely over 40F out there - more than 20 degrees colder than yesterday morning.

I would have liked to sleep in, but I’m up, so I’ll have my quiet time alone to read the Sunday funnies. And have some caffeine. And cake for breakfast, right?

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ here. It’s 39 degrees Amurrkin outside! BRRRRRR! I’m feelin’ lazy this mornin’. So lazy I do believe I shall be a heathen and not go get churchified. Plus my haid is stopped up. Not an unusual thing when the weather changes.

So, the big transplantin’ of the sago palms took all of about forty-five minutes. Seriously. I thought we’d have a couple hours worth of work but what with all the rain we had for two days before, they were super easy to dig up and new holes, which don’t have to be deep, really easy to dig. I spied some aztec grass amongst all the shrubbery in the front of their house I hadn’t noticed before. So, I suggested transplantin’ that as well. There were six plants which also took no time to dig up and replant in the green area in the middle of the circular drive. After replantin’ the aztec grass, I took their weedwhacker and cut it back which is supposed to be done in the fall, i.e. now. Next spring and summer it will look really good and be all big and poofy lookin’ like it’s supposed to be.

Also, ribs, N.O.T. sallit, baked beans, deviled aigs and beer for supper was wunnerful! Oh and chawklit peecan brownies too!

ETA: Just to clear things up… I have noticed their house before… it was the aztec grass in front of their house I had not noticed. I ain’t no grammar genius.

Yays, boos, hugs, trouts as needed!

I have one big project to get done today. The new MMP.

Sorry Doggio:frowning: what kind of dog is Nelly? That’s a really cute name.

Busybusybusy!!!

Read (well, skimmed) everything, retained almost nothing, except {{{Doggio}}}, I hope Nelly comes home :frowning:

I need to be at the airport in 12 hours, and I still have to finish getting all my preparations at work done, then go home and do a few errands, then pack (I’ll need to do that sometime :smack: ) – and then get a few hours of sleep.

Yay

I’ll probably see y’all in the new MMP. Not sure what day, either – if I’m too busy (or don’t have internet) on my trip, that’ll be Wednesday – but I’m hoping for at least some time and opportunity in the evenings!

Morning Mumpers! I am off today, so I’m going tailgating before the hockey game today. I’ll clean my room tonight.

Soapy, Nelly is a beagle/beagle mix.

Lunch, enjoy Poland, maybe you can sleep on the plane?

FCM, cake contains the same ingredients as waffles or French Toast, so go for it!

: waves at gt :

snowbunny, I bought a snow shovel last year, and I didn’t see a flurry. YAMV*

*Your Accumulation May Vary

Full circle-

I found the Fish Cookbook I posted about in the OP- it’s an excellent cookbook, especially for folks like me who are novices at cooking fish.

Lots of recipes, each with a list of fish the recipe would work with. Plus, losts of descriptions of different fish types and cooking techniques:

Fish by Shirley King

Doggio- Beagles! Love beagles! Cute Dog! Cute cat, too!

gt, you’re kinda close… The Boy is a computer animator, working mostly on small-budget stuff for Canadian TV. He works for one of the smaller companies in the city, which means he also does double-duty from time to time as an on-set fx supervisor, amongst other things. He loves his job, but the hours can sometimes get brutal (though not nearly as brutal as the hours he’d have to put in if he was working on big Hollywood productions).

{{Lunch}} Enjoy your little adventure in Poland! Hope you drink lots of good beer, eat lots of good food, and flirt with lots of pretty girls.

FCM, have you heard Bill Cosby’s bit about cake for breakfast? If it’s good enough for Cosby, it’s good enough for me.

(and on that note, I’m gonna nosh on some leftover chocolate gingerbread for my brekkie… nom nom nom)

Forgive the double post, but I need some opinions on bags/purses as MIL wants to buy me a Roots bag this year for Chrismukkah (she has a coupon to get some at half-price).

Given the option, would you go with this one, or this one? I’m really torn.

Morning everyone. The coffee is brewing and soon it shall be done.

**Mahna, **I’m partial to the red bag.

We went to Outback for dinner last night. Hey, it was close and I didn’t have to cook. I had the Alice Springs Chicken and the men had Mum’s Chopped Steak. My daughter was at work, so didn’t get to go.

There’s nothing too exciting going on here. It’s not too terribly cold here, and I think the sun is supposed to make an appearance today too.

I think I’m going to check on the coffee now.

Howdy all. Busy busy busy.

{{{doggio}}} :frowning: I hope Nellie comes home soon!

Muppet, go for the red bag!

So, the latest chapter in the ongoing saga of getting my daughter’s new passport in time for our vacation - because HRH’s old passport was officially “lost”, one of her parents must attend a face-to-face interview with an Australian passport officer at the nearest Australian embassy, which by the way, is in Riyadh  ! No exceptions, for fear of international parent-child kidnapping, even though the embassy knows full well what happened to the old passport. Now, seeing as my passport was sent to the embassy with HRH’s passport application as supporting evidence of HRH’s Australian citizenship, the only person who can go for the interview is hubby (and even if I had my passport, I can only get a visa to enter Saudi if I am accompanied by my husband)! So the poor sod (on whom I will lavish “appreciatating” upon his return) has decided to drive with a friend to Riyadh and back on Wednesday (a 9 hour round trip) for a 15 minute passport interview! It’s a good thing petrol/gas is cheap here!

Ya’see, this had no feeling behind it.

I hope you’re having a better day today.

:gropes doggio: (with feeling)
Mahna, put me down for a vote for the red bag also. I kinda like it in tan also.

Muppet, that’s like comparing apples to oranges. I can’t decide.

Taters, I loooove Alice Springs Chicken (86 the shrooms, of course).

We’ve been to Sam’s Club and survived the trip. And now it’s naptime!

Mahna[sup]2[/sup], I like the design of the red bag, but not partial to the color–the same bag looks stunning in tan, however.

We’re going to meet this dog today, to see if he’d be right for our family. Himself has been actually looking around a bit and is partial to the idea of a new buddy. Yes, we are insane to be looking for another dog while we’re unemployed and have no money but we already have to feed three critters so adding a fourth isn’t a big deal and we could both use some cheering up. Just in case we do adopt him, what’s a good name? We’re kicking around the name “Mosh Pit” because it’s funny–we can be talked out of it, though!

Doggio, there was a timely ad in our Craig’s List today to remind people with lost dogs to check the Lost & Found section as well as the pet section when trying to reunite missing pups with owners–thought I’d pass the tip along to you because frankly I’d never noticed Craig’s List HAD a L&F section!

Oh, and I have a job interview with Comcast tomorrow–if I don’t check in before that, keep some appendages crossed for me, 'kay?

Urgh, shower time…

In my work, it’s way too much effort for very little payoff.

Aww… that’s a cute pup, SmartyPants. Good luck on the interview tomorrow, btw. Ah, I have Firefox but am such a luddite at times that I couldn’t get used to using it. :frowning: Thanks for the tips; I may still try it as those talking ads are about to drive me over the edge.

Yay for the hubby going the extra mile (and hours LOL) for you, Dotty; but of course he wants you all to be able to go to Australia together.

Facebook scares me at times … so much stuff goes on there! My son has like 700-plus friends  unbelievable!

Happy Sunday all.

Muppet go for the second one. The first one looks like a mailbag to me.

I spiffed da cave. Go me.

Now I still need to come up with an OP for tomorrow. No worries. It’ll be up to my usual high standards.
