As I was enjoying a delicious Mars bar today, I began to question their slogan: “A Mars bar a day, at work, rest, and play.”
I go to thinking, how many Mars bars is that? One or three? Notice that they don’t say “at work, rest, or play”. They use “and”.
Any thoughts?
And if it is three Mars bars, then how can they say “A Mars bar…”
They should be saying “Three Mars bars a day…”
First tabacco companies spiked their cigarettes and now THIS!!!
Here in the UK, I remember the slogan as ‘A Mars a day helps you work, rest and play.’
They were legally challenged to prove the statement, and I think got past that hurdle by saying that you got energy from eating one.
There was usually an attractive female model nibbling away.*
*Not as good as the blonde in the Cadbury’s Flake advert, who would happily suck the end of the chocolate.
Of course I cannot see a Doritos pack without thinking of the young lady who advertised them…
glee has it correct. the ad was playing off of the “an apple a day” thing. one mars (or milky way) per day. if nothing else it give you 6% of your daily calcium requirement.
