A New Foster Dog

I hope you told his uncle what he was doing. He sounds like a sociopath-in-training or worse.

Yeah, unfortunately, she is someone’s ‘possession’ and if she is claimed there would be nothing I could do to stop it. Just hoping she isn’t. Her little personality is emerging and she is so darned sweet!

StG… I am speechless. No idea what I would have done, but I think you probably handled it better than I would have.

My guess: tracking down her lost dog will be too much work and effort. She won’t bother, and PapSett will wind up keeping the little pooch (yay!) and the original owner will just acquire a new “possession” (boo!).

My guess: her shitty former owners are the ones who took her to the shelter claiming she was stray because they no longer wanted to deal with her.

This happens all the time at the shelter I volunteer at. People who surrender their dogs pay a fine. There is no fine for surrendering a stray.

I’m so glad this wee one has your to look after her PapSett.

I had never even considered that the person that brought her in might actually be her owner… I guess because my mind doesn’t work that way.

I seriously don’t think the little thing has ever had her nails clipped… one of them was DOUBLE CURLED back upon itself. I am still working on that one to try and get it corrected and will probably have to have the vet do it; I can’t even get the clippers in to cut it like it should be.

PapSett - The week for the owner to claim is up. Is she yours??

StG

She is MINE. No one even called to ask about her. I will go Monday to do the final paperwork. Her little personality is emerging more with every passing day. I got my first kiss from her yesterday.

does happy dance

I’m so glad!

Those may be the most fabulous ears I’ve ever seen. She’s adorable,** PapSett,** congrats on the new family member, and good for you for rescuing this girl.

YAY!!!

StG

What an extremely lucky dog.

Just a wee update… it’s official! Twelve minutes and $40 later and Macee is officially mine. I took her in to get microchipped and do the paperwork and I think the poor little thing thought I was going to leave her there again, she started shakig violently. WEhen I put her back in the car, she made a gigantic leap from the passenger seat into my lap and gave me about a hundred kisses.

Bunny, my younger Papillon, was SO glad to see her come home; pretty sure she remembered me taking Cricket away and coming home alone. When I sat Macee on the floor, Bunny sniffed her all over and gave her a ton of kisses.

My little family is complete again. Those who have passed before will never be forgotten and in my heart forever, but one thing I have found so very true over the years- your heart can always expand to include ‘another’.

Oh, I’m so glad! I’m anxious to see what the vet says about her.

Reading this just made my day!

And here’s a little bonus… I was sitting here holding her, and my FaceBook PM alert dinged. It was my friend Monica, the Animal Control manager, telling me to call her. I did, and she said Macee had gotten an ‘annonymous sponsor’ so they are crediting the $40 back to me!

I have some really great friends!

This whole story has made my day too. Thanks for keeping us up to date!

Another failed foster, I see.

Kudos for going the extra mile for the smallest and most vulnerable!

Ah Sailboat… I went right into this one KNOWING I was going to fail at fostering. I mean… who else in their right mind is going to be adopting an ancient little dog like this??

I don’t know how long we’ll have together but I intend to make her time her GOOD time.

Bless your heart!
