A new Ghostbusters movie should have an older woman Ghostbuster

Lucy Lawless.

How did this take 14 posts? Have the rest of you even seen the movie?

Older woman Ghostbuster, eh? How about Betty White?

It will be written by Vance Refrigeration’s Gino and Leo from The Office.

Didn’t the first two Terminator movies star a woman?

Are you referring to Linda Hamilton (who was kind of the point of the first two movies), or the female TX in the third film? Or the female terminator “Cameron” from the TV show?

Every movie can’t be Predator. Although that had a woman in it too.

I thought Bill Murrey said that line.

Bea Arthur seems well-suited for some sort of role in the movie.

Less-qualified would be Phyllis Diller, but I hope they can work her in.

I thought it was Winston as well. After I read it here, I did second guess myself though. It could have been either. It sounds like something Murray would say, but was given to Winston at the last minute so he would have something to say. Both Ghostbusters movies needed more Winston.

Which makes two errors with that statement.

In her current state?

She would play a new ghost recruit.

In the first movie, there’s a big rift that only happens every 10,000 years or so that lets a lot of ghosts into the world. That gets fixed. There shouldn’t be enough ghosts left to make ghostbusting a viable business model.

The second movie had an odd ghost that was powerful and canny enough to get through without a rift. They should not do that again. So there’s no way that ghosts can get into the world . . .

. . .unless Venkman cracks and starts trying to reproduce the rift on a smaller scale to let in enough ghosts to give him a chance to be a hero again. If so, I can totally see Jane Curtain figuring that out and not being believed by the rest of the guys. Egon might have enough distance to believe, if she can get evidence. But Ray would be completely trusting, and then crushed once convinced. Louis could probably be conned into helping make the rift.

Whatever they do, they need refrain from undermining the rarity and power of the original rift.

Because that would completely destroy the film’s artistic vision and integrity?
