At least that’s what it looks like from this blurb.
It’s a Michael Bay film, so not only will it suck hard, but it’ll be filled with lots of pointless explosions.

Michael Bay needs to be stopped. The only reason I can see to remake A Nightmare On Elm Street, is to make it darker and bloodier, with less cheese. But, Michael Bay is not capable of pulling that off. It’ll be rated PG-13 and will have a soundtrack pulled from those CDs found exclusively in Hollister stores. It will be loud, bombastic and full of slow-motion visuals. It will have golden shots of everyday, apple-pie-eating americans going about their glorious lives, before the shit hits the fan. He’s not capable of subtlety, darkness, smoldering tension, or the visceral. They’ll bring in some hack screenwriter and it’ll make the rounds of 15 producers and executives, before it’s watered down and homogenized to maximize market potential.
Robert Englund will be completely ignored, and they’ll bring on someone like Christian Haydenson to play Freddy.
Then it’ll score 150 mil on it’s opening weekend, and we’ll have to suffer 8 more sequels of progressively lesser quality.
I really enjoyed Near Dark. I’m not really looking forward to remakes of A Nightmare on Elm Street or Near Dark.

“Non-remake”? I don’t understand – how are they going to know what to make the movie about? I thought we had reached the point where every movie made is a remake, a sequel or a movie version of a video game.
I actually like the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake (although it’s very different from the original), but the horror remakes have really overstayed their welcome.
Rob Zombie’s Halloween was absolutely putrid, and I don’t expect anything more from a Nightmare or Friday the 13th remake. The latter, in particular, confuses me, since the series’ signature character isn’t even supposed to show up in the first movie.
I’d be really surprised if a Nightmare remake could keep the dark campiness of Krueger’s character. Modern movies of this type have been all about brutality, grime, and torture as opposed to the darkly humorous and ironic killings that Krueger is known for.
