A note about colours (to Lobelia Overhill).

Yo, Lobelia. You seem like a nice enough poster - this isn’t anything personal.

Stop colouring your posts.

It’s Annoying.

No, keep doing it. It’s unique.
It’s not as if she goes mad. just colours them indigo or something. one colour.

I respectfully disagree. Just because it’s unique, doesn’t mean it’s palatable.

Every time I see one of her posts, I go “Nuhrrr. Colours.” This is followed by a momentary grimace.

I think Lobelia is an interesting and valuable poster, but I have to agree with the OP – her posts are incredibly hard to read. I find the font choice worse than the color (it shows up really small on my machine), but both are distracting and hard to read.

Aaaaaa, get a life, hombre. The colors and different fonts are available. I think they’re cool. Don’t use 'em much because I don’t have the patience for a well-crafted artsypost. But I lllllllllllike 'em!

Whatever happened to raisinbread, anyway? (Is that the right name? The one who used to post in purple all the time? IIRC, people got narked about that, too … )

At least it isn’t a certain (fruit)ist who liked to (fruit) various posts, but it’s close.

I’m with the OP. Looks childish, and is unnecessarily hard to read.

First it’s “unique”, then somebody else wants to be “unique”, then we turn this place into some clowns-in-a-blender font-fest. It irks me too. She seems like a valuable contributor, and may be used to other places that welcome such variety. Addressing the issue like this is probably the best way to resolve it.

Has anyone spoken with her about this, or is she just supposed to find it? I doubt she spends much time in the Pit.

Geez, it doesn’t skeeve me enough to open a pit thread.

I once politely pointed her in the direction of a website that precisely expresses the angst that I feel regarding her preferred abominable font, which is about as far as I’m prepared to take things, usually.

What with the colours and the squinty fonts, I just let my eye skip over her posts, and don’t open any that she starts. I figure if she says anything interesting someone will likely quote it in a reply and strip the formatting.

This post has been bolded and medium-turquoised by the Bold Medium Turquoiseist![/COLOR]**

But it’s not unique. Raisinbread did the “colouring all posts some (constant) colour for no particular reason.” And occasionally it was funny, (someone replied in purple once…). But I always said - it’s fine for a one-poster-off, but no-one else.

I say everyone has the right to do it. But IMHO they should find their own ‘thing’.

Maybe, say, cecil, should colour his posts so they’re easily spotted, though…

I like the fact that the colors, sizes, and fonts are available–to make a joke, to make a point, or to super-emphasize something.

I like even more that that these features are NOT normally used on this board.

I’m with the OP–knock it off.

Sincerely,
)

Red, like Jesus in the Bible. Yes, I’d like that. And only Cecil would have the privilege.

Well I’ve only ever seen her post in that nice navy blue and actually I like it. I think it suits the decor of the SDMB and looks quite classy!

Seriously, Lobelia, you must stop doing that.

Me too. Unless she’s gone crazy with the fonts and colours in threads I haven’t seen I can’t see what the problem is.

I don’t see how navy is any harder to read than black. (I’m colour-blind, and contrast is sometimes an issue for me.)

A question about etiquette here: if someone has been pitted and they are absolutely unaware as to its existence, does someone go and tell them? Or do we let the rant go unanswered? I noticed some people don’t realize, sometimes, when someone has a gripe with them.

On topic (sorry): the colors and fonts allow for some abuse but I don’t think she is an offender in the worst way. It could be worse !!!
