A panicky MMP!

My car is now dug out, as is my path to the car, so I can get out. Blurf. In the middle of it my aunt called and told me a friend of hers had offered to run over and help me out if I needed it, but I’d already gotten far enough I knew I could finish fine on my own.

We got about a foot of it. Lovely, beautiful, but also a lot of work. I now have a serious case of garage envy. The worst part is that last year I had a garage, so I know exactly how much I want one!

SQUEEEEE!!! Mastiff!!! I love those big brutes–I’d have one if they were somewhat smaller than Shetland ponies… Thanks for sharing, Carrot, that is one fine beast there–nice dog, too! What’s his name?

That is one serious porn-'stache there, me bucko!

Nice horse you’ve got there, Cap’n Carrot! Seriously, that is one gorgeous dog – but one HYOOOGE dog! He looks bigger than our two put together!

Something tells me the kid may not be hunting with Uncle again until he takes a gun safety course. My BIL, who teaches gun safety, would be horrified. Resting a loaded gun muzzle on your own foot? That’s sure asking to lose more than a toe. Poor kid! Someone needs to teach him how to be a safe hunter as well as a good shot!

Sorry you have to go in to work, Taters. Papa Tigs is considered essential, unfortunately, which means he goes in pretty much no matter what the weather. And we’ve learned that even though we’ve got tickets for one of the inaugural balls, he may still have to work that day, along with every other day of the inaugural craziness. :frowning: Which means either I’d have to find another date or not go. :frowning: Here’s hoping they let him out sometime.

I just had a lovely nap, so I think it’s time to settle down for some serious knitting for the rest of the day. I have GOT to get SIL’s hat done. And the hotpads for her; I’ve got one 3/4 done, and it looks really great, if I do say so myself. I’m going to make a second in a similar-but-not-quite-identical geometric pattern, just to keep her on her toes to see if she notices.

You had a garage last year, snowbunny, but don’t forget you also had a roommate. Doesn’t your little cabin make up for that?

All you folks experiencing Snowmageddon/SNOWPOCALYPSE '08, stay warm and dry!

Hai everybody!

Nice tree, Rebo. A friend of mine does themed trees too… this year, it’s robots, which is all kinds of cool.

I’m frantically running around the house trying to make it presentable for Mumsy Dearest, who will be arriving later tonight. I’m an indifferent housekeeper under the best of circumstances, which has been a source of much exasperation for my neatnik mother and tends to be a source of panic for me before any of her visits.

I’ve also got a lovely batch of Chunky Orange Pomegranate Marmalade on the stovetop, and it smells yuuuuuuummmmy. I’m hoping the aromatherapy will put Mumsy into a mellow enough mood that she won’t notice the dust bunnies in the corner.

Thurber is an English Mastiff puppy; he’s about 175 pounds, and should gain another 80 or so by the time he’s full-grown.

And my moustache will look a lot fuller by mid-January or so; last year, I went home for Easter and left my razor there, so I had some real facial hair by May.

Cute tree, Rebo! But you definitely need more bears.

Nice cake, Dots! Be a dear and cut me a nice hunk…

And speaking of nice hunks, sounds like a fun weekend Bobbio! But better thee than me.

Youse folks with snow - kindly do NOT send it my way. I have to drive about 90 miles on Christmas and I’d rather do it on clear, dry roads. Thanks ever so…

It’s a tad brisk here. In fact, the thermometer outside the garage door reads about 28ºF. We are not amused. It’s supposed to warm up tomorrow and the next day, but today has been chillier than I like. And I forgot my hat this morning, so filling my car was fun…

There were only 4 of us in the office today, but one was a rather obnoxious chap who keeps calling me Melissa. Yeah, because I am *so *a Melissa. I’ve only been in the office 6 months - is that too short a time to learn my name? Anyway, I did get a lot done, despite having taken a Sudoku book with me. I actually drew a lot of lines. Two more days, and I’m off till Jan 5. Yay!

**FCD **just got home, but he doesn’t want supper. Nor do I. There is some turkey noodle soup in case I want something later, but for now, just chillin’. I’ve got a load of clothes in the washer, so I’m doing something constructive. Go me.

Happy Monday, all!

Who’s a sweetie li’l mastiff puppeh?? My God he’s huge! Look at those feet! Beautiful, just beautiful.

That’s a puppy?!?!?!?!?! Holy jumpin’ Moses on a tricycle!

I am such a bad aunt. I forgot my third nephew’s birthday was today. I’m going to have to give him his birthday card on Christmas Day, which I consider a huge no-no for people born during Christmas Week.* Unless I stop by Art Teacher Sister’s house on Wednesday to give it to him…hmm…
(*Third Nephew’s birthday is today. His father’s birthday is tomorrow. Niece’s birthday is Saturday. Art Sister was very happy to finally have a baby in August this time around.)

It’s gonna be brrrr here tonight: 20 degrees American. Zeldadog’s usual 3 mile walk was cut down to a mile today because we here in the South do not have appropriate Winter Clothes. For instance, I do not own any waterproof shoes. This is a severe oversight that I really should remedy, especially since I live in a freakin’ swamp.

I’m off work this week. I finished knitting i-cords to wrap around glass jars that I filled with homemade salt and sugar scrubs for my MIL, SILs, and a family friend. Four different yummy scents!

Baking day tomorrow, Christmas will be celebrated at our house on Christmas Eve, then it’s traveling to see extended family on Christmas.

Awww, what an enormous adorable puppy!

It seems to have pretty much stopped snowing. And they’re plowing out front right now. It’s about time…grumble

Only 175? Yup, he has a ways to go–isn’t the Guinness record for biggest dog an English Mastiff weighing over 300?

ETA: First on the two, woo!

Well, he is only a year old. Right now he’s sleeping on the living room floor, touching me with his back paw and the TV bookcase with his front. He’s just a baby little lapdog!
Oh, and before I forget: runs through thread nekkid

Howdy Y’all!

Great tree Rebo!

Special howdy to Dotster! The cake is jakely jake. Do hang out some more with us.

BBBobbio excitatin’ weekend there bub. Poor kid with the shot off toe. Glad I never got into huntin’. No tellin’ what I would’ve shot off my body.

Puggy it only got up to 48 Amurrkin here today. However, it’s supposed to be 80 on Crimmus Day. Go figger.

Spaz Hee! That was funnee.

Shadow it pays to have a spare pecan pie for emergencies.

Congrats on the job Morgyn!

Great lookin’ mutt Cap’n. Oh and SmartiePants shame on you. That’s not a Pr0n stash. That’s Cap’n’s collection of good, clean, wholesome readin’ material he collects and distributes to nursing homes and shutins.

Yays, boos, hugs, snow shovels, trouts etc. for whatever or whoever I missed.

Later Y’all!

read all - retained very little

Welcome back everyone who’s been away

Happy third day of Hanukkah

The weekend’s rain, altho cold, was warm enough to was away the dreck of Friday’s storm - thank Og.

I intend to get some real sleep tonight

If no one has any strong, driving need to host Monday 12/29, I’ll take it - I had the first MMP of 2008, I’ll take the last one. I don’t have anything specific in mind to present, I just thought it’d be cool. So unless anyone has a burning desire to host the next one, I’ll do it.

**rosie **- I was going to do it, but you can have it. I only volunteered because **gt **was so desperate to fill that day…

Saves me from having to think… Thanks!!

sigh Well, I’m an idiot.

I took my car into the dealership, assuming that since they’re open to seven, they’d be working to seven. Nope. I also assumed that they had a shuttle all the time. Nope. So I called my boyfriend who lives a town over and, the sweetie he is, he came and picked me up*. We stopped for me to buy a pump for my bike and he dropped me off at home.

I still don’t know what’s wrong with my car - they’ll call me around ten tomorrow morning. I’m not sure how I’ll get to the dealership, but, well, there’s always the bus. :frowning: Or I could ask my guy again, but I don’t want to be a mooch, even though he’d do it.

So I’ll be riding my bike to work tomorrow, unless it turns out the tubes have disintegrated from not being used in years and years.

  • If he’d said he couldn’t or something, I’d have driven home and dropped off the car tomorrow.

Good evening everyone.

Surprisingly, my commute home wasn’t all that bad. The main roads and interstates have pretty much melted off in the lanes that people drive in, however, we’re supposed to drop down to the low twenties tonight, so that means everything will freeze again. Oh, goody…

I stopped and picked my daughter up at the mall. She went and did her Christmas shopping with her friend in the Marines that’s home for two weeks. After I picked her up, I drove her to the pet store so she could pick up a present for my husband there. It’s a rock formation for his fish tank.

Now, my daughter and her friend are watching the movie Crash, and I’m contemplating what to cook for dinner.

Hubby actually took his baby out of the garage and drove my daughter and her friend to the mall. He had a hell of a time getting back up the driveway and into the garage though. The space he parks in is pretty narrow and there isn’t a lot of clearance on either side, so one little slip and he could have hit the house. Fortunately, he made it and he plans on leaving the car in the garage until this crap melts off.

It would have been very nice to just stay home and relax and enjoy the snow with a nice cup of hot coffee. I see the little rugrats next door have completely trampled the front yard so now it looks really ugly. I was planning on taking pictures and posting them, but my camera battery needs recharging. I’m recharging it now, but I don’t think you’ll get the full impression of how much snow we had out here.

That was an interesting story, **Bobbio. ** Poor kid, I’ll bet that hurt like mother once the shock wore off.

Congrats on the job, Morgyn!

That’s quite the horse you have there, Captain Carrot.

Cute tree, **Rebo. ** Once my battery is charged, I’ll take a picture of mine.

Hmm, guess I better figure out the dinner thing. I’m not even hungry, but I’m sure everyone else is.

Sooo full. Met up with a couple of girlfriends for dinner and gift exchange - they were both quite happy with the jewellery I made them, and the cotton floppy beret I made for the birthday girl went over quite well. I am pleased. We then ate entirely too much pho and polished off a pitcher of sangria… good times.

Of course, just as I walked in the door, Mumsy Dearest called to announce that her train was delayed and probably won’t be in until 10:30pm at the earliest. Bother. If I’d known, I would’ve stayed out a little longer. I hate having to cut a nice evening short like that.

Glad your commute was reasonable, Taters. Too bad the powers that be couldn’t be reasoned with and spare you the commute, though.

Silver, I’m most jealous of anyone who lives in a climate where biking to work is feasible in late December. That is most definitely out of the question here, unless you’re one of those crazy hardcore bikers who insists on riding through snowstorms. (Sorry about the car trouble, that sucks)

Took the kids out for their Hanukkah gift- they each got to spend 75-100 bucks at Borders Books. In reality they each spent about $50, but had a blast having free reign!

Yesterday they got small gifts we picked up in Boston and St. Louis over the past few weekends.

Tomorrow we spend with family, so they will be getting gifts from Grandparents, aunties and cousins. We’re off the hook! We get to give gifts to those folks instead!
