Since rosie threatened to confiscate my hockey unless I did the next MMP, here it is:
Friday was the opening season tailgate. We had beer and brats, and burgers and boilermakers. My usual crew(including Roomie) wasn’t around, so I tailgated with a few other friends. We also had a gaggle of Scotsmen and a knife wielding biker show up. Unfortunately the Canes got blown out, and I didn’t get to spend as much time with my “just friend” as I had hoped. Still, drinking beer at 3:30 on a Firday afternoon beats working. Anybody else do something special this weekend?
FIRST!
Good boy. You may resume watching grown men beat each other about the body and head with curved-ended sticks.
Is Monday.
Need to call the bricklayer who worked with the electrician. The electrician did a good job, but the bricklayer should be tied to a pallet of his materials and tossed into the nearest reservoir, the fishies need feeding  When he covered up the holes he’d made for the electricians, he made these HUGE patches (instead of working as small as possible) and left them about 1" higher than the surrounding wall.
Third! I would, however, like it noted that the unemployed person is out of bed, showered and presentable, and before 10am! I’ve already called the solicitor (left a message, darn woman’s never there) and the jobcentre (line’s permanently busy) and checked my emails to get my social calendar sorted out for the week. Productive morning!
Good OP, Doggio, I can’t see anything wrong with drinking beer on a Firday afternoon instead of work. Of course, I could be drinking beer all day because I have no work…but I am resisting that particular descent to the depths at the moment. Plans for today? I have a job to apply for (PA to Matron, no less!) and a bunch of sites where I need to upload my CV. And of course, I have to keep ringing the solicitor and the jobcentre.
Nava - if you need someone to sort the builder out in terms of tying to pallet and sinking in the nearest body of water, I’m currently available and my rates are very reasonable!
Dude doesn’t even understand what my complaint is, I’m thinking of telling him to bring his wife (or another female relative) along when he comes to look at it… she should be able to translate into terms he can understand.
I guess I found out why bricklayers are the trade with the worst reputation in terms of actual working skills: anybody who’s got the smarts for it moves to a different one.
I’ve got three things to do at work, but need authorization for all three. The authorization meetings take place thereabouts of the 20th…
Guess I better start looking at researching something, or start downloading lots and lots of rtf novels. And slap hand stay away from the awful-chocolatey-drink machine!
Mom used her reward points from the supermarket to get me a new set of skillets (yay) and a bath scale. The bath scale is supposed to be able to calculate body fat %; sadly, that’s exactly what it does, calculate it assuming that someone of X height and Y gender will have Z non-fat weight. It uses the same basic weight for any ages, and its minimum height is 3cm taller than me… which makes it 20+cm taller than thousands of Spanish women! Bleagh, say I!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis 67 degrees Amurrkin with a predicted high of only 70 with wind/rain all day. An official Fall day for southwest Jawja! Oh well, irk will be at the office today so it’s a good day for rain/wind.
Nava the scale, in effect, will always tell you that you are short and fat? It should be tied to the pallet with the bricklayer then.
BooFae in answer to your question from the last MMP. No nekkid bacon fryin’ ensued. As to any nekkidness that would have ensued afterward brekkie, well, I’ll let your imagination decide that. Also, I say sweeten the pot with an offer to use the pointy stick on the bricklayer and Nava will probably let you name your price.
doggio I made beast stew and chikin nachos plus I defilthyfied da cave. So, no, nuttin’ special over the weekend.
Now I must seek more caffiene and brekkie for rumbly tummy. Then, alas, irk purtification must commence on a rainy/windy mornin’.
Happy Monday Y’all!
Up, caffeinated, off to irk. Can’t listen to the afternoon hockey game, since it’s during work.
swampy, I had a banana for brekkie.
Scruffy slept in till 6:40 - good doggie! So the critters have been tended to, including feeding, cleaning the cats’ box, and washing and refilling their water dispenser. Pretty productive for pre-7AM, ya think?
I didn’t do anything special this weekend, but I did do one different thing - the pressure-washing of the shutters, steps, and sidewalk out front. I may or may not finish the last small section of the sidewalk today. Oh, and I started assembling afghan squares. I sewed together all 4 strips, and got two of the strips sewed together before I gave in to exhaustion. So all that remains is to sew the last two on, then edge around the whole afghan. I may finish today.
**FCD **has asked me to help him take all his fastener containers downstairs and get them installed. It’s a relatively easy chore, but all of the little bins full of screws and nuts and washers and miscellany need to be removed, then the main containers need to be taken off the wall in the garage, rehung in the shop, and all the little bins need to be put back. Perfect job for a kidlet if we had one here… There are also several anti-fatigue mats in the garage that need to go downstairs - I’ll load them on the wagon and haul them down. Oh, and some laundry will probably be done today - it’ll be a great day to hang clothes out.
And I’ll be meeting **gt **before the week is over, so neener neener neener to the rest of you! I’ll also be meeting whoever else attends the memorial Dopefest for **norinew **on Sat. So I’ve got that to look forward to also.
Thus beginneth the second week in October. Happy Monday, all!!!
Morning all.
Blurf. Irking, despite a FedGuv holiday.
Still hiccuping, Soapy?
No, you scared the hiccups right outta me.
Weird, I tailgated Saturday for the first time in years. Saw so many old friends, our team won and a cold front brought a really good rain from up there all the way down here. What a perfect weekend.
Mornin’ everyone.
Good Morning everyone.
My weekend was pleasantly quiet and lazy overall. I did buy a cute pair of boots, but I can’t decide if I should keep them. I’m afraid I forgot that I’m 55, not 28.
Small wonder, I’ve never had tenure and he almost scared the hiccups right into me!
Maybe we should use the scale to weigh the loaded pallet…
You must not have been watching the Texans!
The rain was heavenly! I made sketti sauce and the house smelled yummy all afternoon.
Monday at irk. How irksome.
PS - I reported your title for durnken spelling…
Bearing in mind that I have zero fashion sense, I say if you like them, if they’re comfy, and if you can afford then, go for it! Unless they’re white go-go boots - that’s a fashion that never should have happened…
While I was showering, my sweetie took the laundry downstairs and sorted it all! What a guy!!! A load of towels is washing right now. We’ll see what gets done after that.
Leftover pizza for breakfast, washed down with a Diet Coke. Yum!!!
I forgot to day is a federal holiday. So I guess this check I got in the mail will get deposited tomorrow instead. :smack: I also guess the mail I stuck in the mailbox at da cave will be there when I get home. :smack: So, it’s Columbus Day.
Oh and it’s also Turkey Day in Canada so, to all the Canadian Mumpers:
**
HAPPY TURKEY DAY!!!

Happy Thanksgiving, all of you who are celebrating today!
My big weekend event was that I got an iPad. Hooray!
And this week’s big event is getting to meet FCM. Bobbio is apparently afraid of meeting me. Also, I’ll be meeting those other people that FCM mentioned upthread. Yay!
I slept in a bit and lazed around and am now going in to work for a while - it’s a holiday, so no one will be there to get in my way, I hope. Need to get a bunch of loose ends tied up. I’m going shopping for a bit after that. Woo hoo!
Back later.
GT
Happy anniversary of a dude shouting “¡TIERRA!” to those who celebrate it today. We have us a holiday on Wednesday.
Ha, no white go-go boots. I did have a pair when I was about 10, I think.
I do have one co-worker who has teased me about being too girly, so I think that is making me doubt my decision to buy the boots. I wish I didn’t care what others think.
Leftover pizza makes for a very yummy breakfast. I ate way too much this weekend and I’m up 4 pounds from my summertime low. I must be a good girl this week. I must!
