Nothing special this weekend was done at our house. Watchin the pennies and being on crutches has impacted the excitment level her recently. mr ems didn’t even get out of his jammies yesterday.
I have the monthly conference call from hell this afternoon - on the plus side I can duck out early as I have to go to PT
Those who have the day off/are celebrating something today. Enjoy!
pffffft - at our age (I’ve just got a couple of years on you) who cares what others think?? We’ve earned our eccentricities! That’s why we love that old geezer **swampy **- he’s gone from being a creepy weirdo to a gutsy old guy. OK, maybe he’s still a weirdo…
First load of laundry is on the line, second load is in the washer. I think I’ll do 3 loads today. And my cell phone is charging since it was almost dead and I don’t have a working car charger. Stoopit phone.
**mmmmmmm **- congrats on getting out of some of the conference call! Make sure you allow *PLENTY *of time to get to PT - you don’t want to be rushed in your condition.
I had a nice brekkie of half a English muffin with a teaspoon of peanut butter and a hard-boiled egg. Then I came to work and there are doughnutz. Chocolate doughnutz. So I applied one to my hips. Now my tummy is bit unsettled. I figure with Halloween candy around for the next few weeks, I should gain about 30 pounds by the end of the month!
I have computer training for irk from 5-9 tonight, and my boss sez I have to be in tomorrow for the staff meeting at 8 am because she doesn’t want to have to go over everything twice. Blurf to her!
S’ok. Welcome!
I was actually working on an MMP FAQ & was going to ask the mods if it could be posted somewhere when I’m done with it. (Got lazy!) I’m getting ready to go out of town, so I will work on it when I get back.
Good morning, y’all! I also have today off, as it is one of the federal holidays that my work chooses to acknowledge.
Yesterday, we went looking for a more age-appropriate buddy for our younger dog; after three shelters, emailing/calling back and forth with a couple of Craigslist owners, and a week and a half of emailing with a rather standoffish rescue organization, we found a little guy who should fit in just fine with our girls. We’re waiting on a phone call to let us know that his nads have been trimmed and he’s ready for us to pick up and bring to his new forever home.
Today I tried to go running for the first time since I sprained my ankle the weekend before Labor Day, and it did not go so well. I’m still getting pain around the worst of the bruising sites that I had, and a little in the tendons that connect on the other side of my foot to my ankle. I hope I don’t have to see a podiatrist about this, but it looks like that may be the case. At least I have good insurance now, so it won’t cost me through the nose to be told that I need to take it easier and possibly invest in more supportive work shoes or insoles. I just wanna go back to being able to exercise normally and not worry about my ankle causing me trouble.
ETA: Spuds, your dogs also engage in Wrestlemania: Dog Edition? It’s entertaining, but I like my dogs to go do that in the yard where they’re unlikely to knock into furniture.
I had a nice weekend. Sweetie had a long week and a particularly long day on Friday (some sports thing at URI) so I made every effort to be nice and helpful so he could relax. Unfortunately this meant 2 trips to the auto parts store (got the wrong bulb the first time) and a trip the the most moronicly designed gas station ever, and then a trip to the grocery store. But, I got gas, the headlight in the car and the reverse light in the Jeep got replaced, and I made some awesome ham salad.
The flea market was good too. I got some nice jewelry to destroy and my new desk.
This is my ugly old Staples $100 crap special. It’s big and wobbly and the “finish” on it comes off if it gets wet (making it very hard to clean). It also doesn’t go at all with the house and it has no real method of organization so it was constantly messy.
This is my awesome new $25 Flea Market special. It’s solid wood and not only fits the house, it fits my end tables and rocking chair too (all bought at different times and different places). It doesn’t wobble at all and it has 7 drawers. The 3 bottom drawers are really long and hold a huge amount. I put my clay and beading supplies on the books shelf but everything else that was on the other desk fits in this one, most of it in the drawers. It takes up way less space too. LOVE IT!!!
This is the Terrible Iggy Dammit helping Sweetie to dismantle the old ugly desk. That wooden chair in the background came with the new desk so my $25 flea market special was a beautiful desk and a very nice chair.
I hate Columbus Day. It’s the most moronic holiday ever, even worse than Valentine’s Day. Can someone please explain to me why we have a federal holiday to celebrate someone who had nothing to do with the United States, yet most people have to work on Veteran’s Day? That is just dumb and it pisses me off. Of course, it doesn’t really affect me at all but it still pisses me off.
Welp, Sweetie is at work and I have homework due today so I guess that means I have to get to work. I had a nightmare last night which involved me failing all my classes and getting my schedule wrong so I showed up to the wrong classes at the wrong times. It was horrible.
Of course I was replying to you and not peedin. Your psychic powers are fully functional. Carry on…
Back from lunch and a grocery errand. I’m making meatloaf and twice baked N.O.T. for supper - the first baking is underway at this moment. After they’re done and cooled, I’ll scrape 'em out, mix the innards with cheese and butter and some onions, restuff them, and freeze most of them. Then I’ll mix up 2 meatloaves and freeze one for a future meal. So domestical…
shortdrum - have we not pointed you to this collection yet? <searches blog>
Of course, had someone :dubious: bothered to put the Twice Baked N.O.T. recipe in the blog, I’d have been able to give you that link, too.
eta in other news, I just had to reschedule my doc appt, because my foot is still too swollen for my sneaker (and that is the biggest "toe box"ed shoe I own) So maybe another two days will make a difference . . . <crosses fingers>
