Well, Rudy is famous for all kinds of leaks.
Not attempting a hijack here at all (I’m sure there’s a thread in the works now about it) but the leader of the Conservative Party of Canada just got turfed last night, and a big chunk of it is that he’s viewed as not “conservative” enough. One thing I’ve seen cited in the runup to this was that the Conservative grassroots and a lot of backbenchers really didn’t like Parliament finally voting to ban gay conversion therapy. So what you’re describing here hit home more than ever before today.
I wonder how they’d react to religion conversion therapy. Unlike one’s sexual orientation, it is a choice.
I’m sure they’re for it. At least until they find out it can be used to convert someone to a religion other than their own.
Or none at all was what I was thinking.
Imagine how upsetting it must be for Lindsey Graham to hear this while barnacled to the inside of Trump’s rectum.
I’ve seen those! I’ve seen two variations: one with a picture of Biden pointing (with said sticker positioned to be pointing at the price per gallon on the display) with a speech bubble saying “I did that,” and one that just says “Let’s Go, Brandon!”
Seen them here too, in Gainesville Florida.
I’ve been peeling them off gas pumps around here for months.
Funny thing is when I see them around the Houston area. This region lives and dies by the oil industry, so sustained, higher prices are economically a good thing for the region.
Yeah, but that doesn’t mean those same people want to pay high prices! (Houston has one of the lowest prices per gallon in the country, so I’ve heard.)
Sub $3 gas is easy to find in San Antonio. Texas might be a resource-exploitation state controlled by fascists, but oh, those gas prices!
And most of Harris Co is Houston, where gas is a bit pricier than the outlying suburbs. Still easy to find sub $3 across the region.
Around here sub $4 is almost unheard of . CA gasoline is the very cleanest gas, but we definitely pay for that privilege.
You mean breathing? That privilege?
Yes . I’m not complaining about the price - I’d rather pay more for slightly less air pollution. I just find it amusing how local conditions shape expectations.
Here in the Seattle area, it’s hovering around $4 a gallon or just under. We tax the heck out of gas though.
ETA: That AAA site says King County is $4.164 which is about right.
I remember SoCal before the AQMD. Horrid. You could watch the wall of smog move slowly eastward during the day, until you couldn’t see any mountains anywhere. Stage 2 smog alerts and PE classes held indoors because outdoor exercise could kill you.
Yeah, I’ll gladly pay higher gas prices to keep that from happening again.
I wonder, if it were put to a popular vote now, whether the majority might not vote for possible unlivable smog in the future by getting a 50-cent cut in the price of gas now. Maybe they would hold out for $1 cut.
