Yeah, NASCAR didn’t deny that sponsorship because of political reasons; they were terrified of it being a big scam.
Which it is.
There are other lengthy threads on the board discussing the problems with crypto that have nothing to do with politics directly. Anyone interested I would encourage to look them up.
“It all seems vaguely unethical?” - Best podcast ever
Wasn’t it pretty much worthless from the start?
It went from worthless to worth even less.
I’m curious to find out whether this is Joe Biden’s fault or Hillary Clinton’s.
Wrong on both counts. It’s Pelosi’s fault.
Of course the people behind the coins still made out pretty well. They had no actual money in the game (aside possibly from the amount spent on ads and the computing infrastructure). The people who lost were those fools who bought the coins with real dollars or “legit” crypto and all the money they lost went directly to the instigators.
It’s a modern rendition of a Ponzi scheme mixed in with tulip mania.
But there’s an ideological element to this. It’s more like prosperity gospel scams.
As the Moscow Mitch/Turnip rift widens…

Although, it is kinda shitty if this effort does result in a GOP majority in the Senate.
Nice eptithet Mitch came up with - this means Don felt he was personally called a goofball.
I wonder if this means that Mitch is worried about Trumpist candidates winning primaries in closely contested Senate races like PA, NC, AZ, etc.? The thinking being that those kinds of candidates will have worse chances in the generals.
Dems have a very real chance of coming out of November 52-48 and maybe getting some things done that will help in '24. I’m not handwaving away the very distinct possibility that the Pubbies retake the House but it’s not necessarily a slam dunk either.
Why does this remind me of goatse?
You’ve convinced me, I’m tattooing Mitch on one cheek, and Donny on the other.
Every time I fart, I know the Republicans are having another debate.
And my new code word for diarrhea will be “CPAC”.
Maybe. Or maybe he’s worried that if enough goofballs get elected, they won’t support him as majority leader. I expect he’d rather be minority leader than just another majority senator in the back row.
“in bed.”
More GOP dissent
Of course, there’s no “who” (because they’re not “former” yet), nor are there specifics, but reassuring to know there’s at least some form of traction happening.
When you’re on a slippery slope, every little bit helps.
It’s depressing to see how we’re hopeful that the GOP will finally be back in the hands of folks who are competently evil.
You’ll rarely catch ol’ Mitch monologuing, for example.
