A Perfectly Reasonable Amount of Schadenfreude about Things Happening to Trump & His Enablers (Part 1)

Quoting Cawthorne:

I don’t think it’s “blackmail” if people are just releasing videos of things you’ve done. Unless he’s saying that someone is threatening to release even more unless he does something or other? Personally I’m still voting for “Fellow Republicans still pissed off about the cocaine orgy revelations”.

Also: there’s “messing around”, there’s “messing around involving contact with naked genitals” and there’s “messing around involving contact with naked genitals that you have recorded on video”. At some point you have to admit you’re not just here for the hunting.

I’m amused that no one’s commented on the part about the person he was “being crass” with was his cousin. I guess the Cawthorne family tree is a telephone pole.

I found it rather interesting that the party planner for that event, Stephanie Winston Wolcott, made, by her own estimates, approximately a half million dollars for two months work, then proceeded to work for free for the Trumps for about six months.

And no one picked up on this? She wrote a freaking book about it. She was, at one point, accused of misappropriating millions but that’s just because Trumps grifter pals set her up. Her defense was that she only personally cleared about a half million after she paid all the expenses that were funneled through her company. Then she hung around the White House playing personal assistant to Melania. It drove the WH crazy because they didn’t know how to deal with a staffer that had never actually been hired and was ostensibly working as a volunteer.

I thought it was pretty obvious that the Trumps thought they were entitled to all that free work from her because she’d been paid in advance by the inauguration committee.

Nit-pick: Wolkoff.

Relevant nit-pick because she got fed up with the Trump family and walked off.

Only 12 points but it’s a start.

Let us all work hard in every way we can to ensure this trend continues. Thanks for sharing this, too – it gives me day a lift!

Very true!

Yes–apparently ‘being as deplorable as possible’ may not be the guaranteed ticket to GOP electoral success that we’d (reasonably, given the evidence) surmised it to be.

I guess some Republicans realized that if they were male about to anally raped they would probably not want to advised to lay back and ‘enjoy it’.

Oh yes it is. I give you this guy:

So your example indicates it’s enough to win a GOP primary, but the example that prompted the comment was losing to a Democrat in an election.

Excellent. /MrBurns

EDIT: Off topic, I almost posted an image instead of writing the Mr Burns thing – pretty sure discourse would let me – but then I realized that impulse was just the brain rot seeping in from too much reddit. It was the fact they were animated that saved me. A bridge too far!

True, and it was a small-time local election besides.

Yes, that election was for township board. Do you even recognize the names of candidates for offices like that when you’re voting?

Still not the best look for my home state, but I don’t think there were a whole bunch of people saying “I’m voting for the guy who killed his wife!”

That’s almost as bad - I care so little about my political party that I’ll vote for any rando on the ballot!

I would have hoped that the people who care enough to vote in primaries care enough to know something about the candidates within their own party.

Or maybe they do and voted for a likely murderer anyway. Given the state of the GOP these days, that would also not be shocking.

A bunch of people in my district voted for an actual open avowed Nazi once. The defense was, well people might just have voted straight R.

As if accidently voting for a Nazi is better.

I mean, I sort of understand straight ticket voting. It’s still dumb as hell to do so without at least cursory research into the candidates, but conceptually, there’s been some vetting by the party on who gets put on the ballot in the first place.

But the primaries are supposed to be part of that vetting!

Moran doesn’t even understand ‘blackmail’. It’s the threat of releasing it that’s blackmail. Dumping it out for all to see is your own party burying you.

Well… we don’t know what else do “they” have and are threatening to release, may be this is just the milder stuff…

With all the stuff that has come out it warms the heart that he claims to be blackmailed.

I don’t think he’s the one being blackmailed right now. He IS being used as an example as to what happens to people who break the first two rules of Republican cocaine orgy club.

I think you mean the “closeted gay/publicly homophobic Republican cocaine orgy club.” And the next six rules are just as important, I’d say.
