In general, any successfully executed subpoena may lead to testimony and any testimony may lead to new subpoenas, ad nauseum.
I believe that the grand jury was only seated fairly recently so this might be their first set of subpoenas.
I assume that Willis has done some investigating already but I would expect that this is really the start of the serious portion of the investigation.
It was seated in May. I believe those are the first subpoenas we’ve heard about, but there could have been others that didn’t make the news.
Reminder, this is a Special Grand Jury, which in Georgia, can’t indict. Just make recommendations. But I expect the prosecutor can take any recommendations and get immediate indictments from an ordinary grand jury.

For myself, I am not able to maintain the level of outrage and anger that seems to be required for current events.
I remember reading with horror as a child about how killer whales would harass a regular whale, bumping it until it was exhausted and it would loll on the surface letting them eat its tongue. I couldn’t understand how it ever let that happen no matter how exhausted it was.

Trump’s WH counsel Pat Cipollone has been subpoenaed by the Jan. 6 Committee, and is going to testify in a closed session.
Cipollone had been reluctant to testify to the committee, citing presidential privilege, but he has been regularly mentioned in the hearings and is key to a number of episodes being plumbed by the committee.
The committee issued the subpoena last week after blockbuster testimony from a former aide, Cassidy Hutchinson, identified the lawyer as having firsthand knowledge of potential criminal activity in the Trump White House.
The decision followed extensive negotiations between Cipollone and the committee, as well as sharply escalating pressure on him in recent days to testify. Committee members have come to believe that the former counsel’s testimony could be critical to their investigation, given his proximity to Trump and presence during key moments before, during and after the attack on the Capitol.
We are going to run out of Secret Service agents to protect people.
I wonder if Trump is going to talk shit about him on his so-called “social” media platform as the testimony is played back over on the video screens. Kidding! I’m not wondering. More like expecting.

Just a brief point of clarification:
I’ve no doubt Trump would say stupid shit like this, but Pat Cippollone was never Trump’s lawyer. At least, he wasn’t supposed to be. He was the White House counsel – meaning his job was to protect the Office of the President of the United States. Not pledge fealty to the writhing mass of filth slithering around in the Oval Office.
That’s why Cippollone’s claims of executive privilege are complete bullshit.
Cippollone was a shameful failure at doing the job he swore an oath to do. I’ve read he was a ditto head, so no surprise there.
