A Perfectly Reasonable Amount of Schadenfreude about Things Happening to Trump & His Enablers (Part 1)

I love this part of the judge’s order:

Plaintiff’s Amended Complaint is 193 pages in length, with 819 numbered paragraphs, 14 counts, and it names 31 defendants including Charles Dolan. As I stated in my Order entered September 8, 2022 (DE 267), none of these counts stated a claim upon which relief could be granted. Additionally, several of the defendants were not subject to personal jurisdiction, and there was not subject matter jurisdiction over the Federal Defendants. The Amended Complaint was, in its entirety, frivolous. Multiple substantive defects precluded Plaintiff from proceeding on any of the theories he advanced.

Can’t you just see TFG standing over his lawyers’ shoulders, saying, “Add more stuff! Accuse this guy, that guy, everyone,” and the lawyers being too cowed to contradict him?

If she finally does divorce him because of his verbal abuse of her when it’s really his own that screwed up everything, maybe I’ll finaly have some respect for her.

Maybe.

Go rift, go…

oh oh, I’m getting all Oxford Comma-ish over the “Go” / “rift” thing…

Trump - a true leader? Trump - step off the stage? LOL. She’s probably got a nickname incoming.

If I was named Lou, and I had a son, I’d name him Winsome.

Then he could be “Winsome, Lou’s son”.

And he , in reply, would call you “Lou, Sir”.

OK, so the dreaded Red Wave was more like a ripple, but the pubs are still going to win House majority, and there’s still a possibility they’ll have 51 seats in the Senate. It may be all sound and fury signifying nothing, but the result will still be the same. A win by 4 touchdowns or 1 point is still a win. How can we derive the proper amount of schadenfreude from that?

Very unlikely the Pubbies will win the Senate majority.

In any case, the take-away is (to paraphrase Pat Toomey, and many others): the closer a candidate (including governors, etc.) was associated with Trump (by their noisy adoration, by his endorsement, or both), the more he/she underperformed expectations (including many, but not all, losing their contests).

THAT indicates a loss of power and relevance, no matter how you slice it.

Trump is bad enough, but he is not the only Republican who wants to score points against the enemy (many of us) rather than govern. Remove megalomania and the complete disregard of the rule of law, and you are still left with viciousness, racism, malice, and the will to run everyone’s life as they (the Republicans) see fit. In many ways, those left after Trump are worse, because they are more systematic about it. This election could have been much worse, true, and future elections might still hold some hope, but only if liberals and Democrats stay mad and stay focused. And that, frankly, I don’t see happening.

Please, prove me wrong.

Ted Cruz smacked upside the head with a beer can thrown at him during a parade.

As much as I despise Cruz, that’s wrong. We’re supposed to be better than that.

Excuse me? That wasn’t a beer can. What the patriot threw at Asshole’s head was a can of White Claw, which is no more beer than paint is.

I did notice their security moved quickly to prevent Heidi from being used as a human shield.

No kidding, what a waste of perfectly good beer. He barely deserves crab juice.

Being angry all the time is a conservative thing. Granted, it may be good for electoral success, but it sure as hell no way to live.

It’s a “malt beverage”, so could be considered “beer”

As said, it was White Claw, so that’s OK. Certainly wasn’t perfectly good beer.

Opinion piece by columnist Dana Milbank for WaPo (gift link):

Some people paid as much as $1000 to attend. Minimum charge was $20.

I can’t prove you wrong, but maybe offer hope.

My understanding is that Democrats owe Generation Z deep gratitude for turning out in numbers this election cycle. Neither Democrats nor young people are historically big midterm voters. Yet they showed up.

My impression of these young people who showed up is that they are very, very angry. They work horrible jobs and will likely never be able to own a house in their lifetime. They are furious at the entire system.

Next election, today’s 16- and 17-year-olds will get to join the fray, swelling the Gen Z numbers further. Will they feel like they will be able to own a house in their lifetime? I’m going to guess “still no.”

Eventually that rage will turn on Democrats, I’m assuming, but America is like a hoarder’s house on fire. It badly needs a cleaning, but first you have to put the fire out. Step one is save democracy, step two is tear down capitalism. (I’m imagining this is their view.)

Every claim was frivolous, most barred by settled, well-established existing law. These
were political grievances masquerading as legal claims. This cannot be attributed to incompetent
lawyering. It was a deliberate use of the judicial system to pursue a political agenda
