Biden doesn’t seem to be entirely self-restrained. He’s significantly better than Trump but I feel like he’s still has the “I ain’t going to let someone hurt my kid when I’ve got the power to stop it” mindset lurking in his brain. But, likewise, he’ll understand that, that’s a last resort tactic.
My personal expectation is that he’ll lean real hard on Hunter to turn on others and bargain, and hit the DOJ with a wall of lawyers high enough to convince them that it’s simply easier to cut a deal than try to prosecute him for anything giant. Hunter will serve some minimal time, and if there’s still anything left for him to do when Joe leaves office then he’ll issue a pardon.
For what, exactly? As far as anyone knows, no crimes have been committed. The laptop is totally compromised as evidence of anything at all. There is also the great probability that there isn’t anything on it at all, because they would have made it public long before now. So just what is Hunter going to jail for?
Well, as said, my expectation is that the family leaned on him to dish out on anything he knew about others in his various sundry business dealings and, possibly, the charges that are under consideration are after bargaining a lot of other charges away.
We’ll need to read the charges leveled against people at the various companies that Hunter worked with, to try and get a sense for what all Hunter might have been guilty of.
(Assuming, of course, that there were others to dish on and criminal things to dish out.)
Hiring women for sex is still illegal in most US jurisdictions AFAIK. Watersliding naked with them isn’t necessarily, although severe chafing could be a problem.
And if they are going to focus on things that happened when Joe Biden was VP, they are going to run up against statute of limitations issues. Not that I’ve seen evidence that anything illegal happened. Mostly I think they are going to throw shade on normal investment banking activities, many which result in bankers getting lots of money for leveraging their connections without doing much work.
“She feels it’s bad for her family … and negative in general in her circle of friends,” the source said, adding that the former president’s daughter didn’t make any new friends during her time as an unpaid advisor in the White House.
Hm… Schadenfreude for the consequences of her actions becoming part of the Trump administration? Or Schadenfreude for Trump because the daughter he loves so much is starting to ghost him?
