A serving of Hope, with Schadenfreude seasoning:
Fascinating thing to consider. Pundits have noted for years now the Democrats neglect of state races. It appears that the message was finally received and the Dems seem to be trying to do something about it.
A lot of that is probably due to the Dobbs decision. Now that abortion access is no longer a federal issue but a state issue, there a strong motivation to make sure that the state houses respect the right to choose.

I’d pay big bucks for one and send it to my cousin.
Genius!
This made me smile, too:
I find myself wishing on Trump the foresight and fortitude to start a 3rd party.
By 2-1, GOP and GOP-leaning voters now say they want Trump’s policies but a different standard-bearer to carry them. While 31% want the former president to run, 61% prefer some other Republican nominee who would continue the policies Trump has pursued.
“We want the same hate, racism, misogyny, science denial and shitty economics, but just in a different wrapper please”
“Without quite so much bronzer.”
I’d find it satisfying for Trump to suffer the same thing his wives no doubt endured: getting tossed aside for a “newer model.”
So…Trump Light!
It’s Walker!!!
“Over the last year, I’ve gotten to know Herschel and have seen first-hand the movement he built in his home state," Scott said
Texas???
In it, Scott said he anticipates Walker being “a leader” in the Republican party “for years to come.”
Good. Their leader will be a man who can barely form a sentence and cannot keep a thought in his damaged mind.
Desantis/Walker 2024
“Werewolves Are Better Than Vampires”
The WABTV (“wob-tiv”) movement will rise up and take over with patriotic fervor. (You just take old MAGA hats, change the words, and add a couple of pointy red wolf ears to the top.)
I often wondered why Walker did not play the Christian ‘saved’ card?
“I was sinful, but now I am saved!!!” Wouldv’e given cover to hisself and all the ‘Christians’ that voted for him.
“Yeah, he used to be a violent woman-beater, fornicator, abortion guy, child abandoner guy, but that was THEN”!.
Other than the fact such a tactic would require more intelligence than Walker has exhibited to date, it would also require admitting he may have been wrong at some point in his life.
And that’s anathema to such people. Admitting to wrongdoing, even in the context of becoming a better person, means one is a loser now and forever. They love telling redemption stories where they save other people. They can’t stand cases where they themselves require saving.
Why bother? Trump showed the GOP that they don’t actually have to admit to anything in order to get that sweet sweet “he’s a flawed soul but aren’t we all?” double-think from the evangelical right.
The current Republican voters can identify with him.
Not wanting to reignite the ire of the Mods in the Mar-a-Lago thread, but not willing to relinquish the challenge of finding an appropriate German term for the inevitable Trump-enabler fate of being “thrown under the bus”, I figured that this would be the best place to remark:
-
German has already adopted the English idiom “to throw under the bus” in the form "unter den Bus werfen," past participial construction “unter den Bus geworfen”.
-
There is (sadly) a widely used and somewhat parallel native German construction “vor den Zug werfen”, “to throw [e.g., oneself] in front of a train”, past participial form sometimes occurring as “Zug vorgeworfen”.
-
So I propose, subject to correction by more knowledgeable German speakers, the compound participle “Busuntergeworfen” “thrown under the bus”.
