A Perfectly Reasonable Amount of Schadenfreude about Things Happening to Trump & His Enablers (Part 1)

This gives me a warm glowing feeling.

Hugh Hefner’s Big Bunny appears to have been fully staffed while he owned it. Of course, that was only for about six years (1969-1975):

Yikes, early 70’s styles were horrific.

I blame cocaine and atmospheric lead poisoning.

Ew, that Tasmanian opossum fur blanket is gross. It’s like you can see their little carcases. Ick.

Cruella de Vil was Hef’s interior decorator.

Those flight attendants look like they got the Robert Palmer “syndrome” like in the SNL parody The Palmer Bunch, years before Robert Palmer had his weird dancers with dark vampy eye makeup in his 80’s videos.

I’m no expert, but just on the basis of potential customers I would imagine the number of FBOs equipped to deal with a 757-class airplane would be approximately zero. Even the Boeing Business Jet, derived from the 737, is rare because it’s a bit extravagant for most businesses – a surprisingly high percentage are owned by self-aggrandizing Trump-like individuals, not corporations accountable to shareholders. Also, most FBOs I’ve come across don’t offer flight crews (they may offer flight training for certain common types of airplanes) but perhaps some do; most are geared to fuel, hangaring, and maintenance.

And if you look at the annual operating costs of something like a 757, the incremental cost of maintaining a set of flight crew on (mostly) salaried standby (rather than the hourly cost of a hypothetical rent-a-crew) would be fairly insignificant, relatively speaking. The total annual operating budget for a BBJ averages just under $3 million, and the combined fixed and variable operating costs for a 757 could easily be twice that amount. Major overhaul of a single engine alone can run to $1 million.

Yeah, but as he keeps saying, he’s a billionaire. A million here, a million there, should be chump change to him.

If he can’t afford to maintain his plane for a mere $10 million a year, he must be POOR and a LOSER. :innocent:

I wonder if he can contract with a major airline that operates a 757 fleet to do his maintenance and maybe even provide flight crews?

They would expect to be paid.

Well maybe they did expect to get paid, but that was then. And now, whaddya know, Trump’s plane sits in a back lot rusting away. See, it all follows logically!

I wonder if all the gold plating can be recovered, if nothing else.

Really doubt there is any actual gold involved.

It’s not that expensive to have your plane be gold-plated.

That’s less than $100 a gallon.

With HIM as a customer? What the fuck would lead them to expect that?

I doubt anyone would want that plane. I guess there is a bit of aluminum that could be recovered. I suspect that’s what it will be. A very big re-cycling project.

Sidebar, please.

FBOs?

Fixed Base Operator.

Fixed Base Operator; a business that rents planes, sells fuel, gives flying lessons, repairs aircraft, that sort of thing.

Which is? (not trying to be jerkish; I honestly don’t know what that means. Is this airplane lingo?)
