Foxitis. The only cure is a radical complete Foxectomy.
Or perhaps a really juicy lawsuit against the Murdochs, holding them responsible for the lies they broadcast.
(my emphasis)
From a certain slimy lawyer point of view, I think this answer makes the most sense. If you can argue that non-stop Fox ‘news’ created a diminished capacity, and that Fox was knowingly misleading their viewers, it opens a very tasty lawsuit for a big-payday followup. I’m pretty sure that most of the rioters aren’t able to afford top-tier lawyers, but if they sign away rights to 40+ percent of any settlement said lawyer wrangles off Fox… well, that could be attractive.
DEFENDANT: "I relied, to my detriment, on information broadcast by Fox News."
IANAL but it does appear that a lot of the Jan. 6 insurrectionists believed what they were told: that their efforts were needed to restore legitimate government. That going to the Capitol and attempting to change the conduct of the VP and/or members of Congrss was the “patriotic” thing to do.
It was all a lie, of course. A lie told by Donald Trump and then echoed by numerous employees of the Murdochs, among others.
A lawsuit might not fly, given that Fox News was not the only source of lies. But it would be nice to see someone try.
I’ll let the mental health professionals fully assess his competency, but IMHO, it isn’t about competence, it’s about ANGER and SHAME. These folks believe, truly believe (very wrongly however) that they are HEROS, that they were standing up against a great evil, and they are (in their own heads) righteously angry at how they are being treated as some sort of criminals.
Ready the quoted line from Scrot MacFarlane again, and you’ll probably hear it. This is a a petulant child, who thinks he’s in the right, screaming that everyone else is in on some sort of conspiracy and they owe him recognition and thanks not more hassle.
So they were gullible, mislead twits, but that doesn’t make them lack the competence to stand trial, they just lack the competence to act responsibly in a world far more complex their their view of it.
They should have someone check his bank accounts. Bet they are being drained.
And when any other information came near me, I stuck my fingers in my ears and shut my eyes said NONONONONONONO.
I actually kinda hope one of these idiots wins with that defense, because it would immediately open Fox News to multibillion dollar lawsuits that they would most certainly lose.
Fuck Murdoch and all his spawn.
Just the thing:
She outlasted the lying shitstain!
Well, actually, hippos are known for flinging their shit far and wide with their tails:
Some comments on YouTube suggest that is the origin of the expression when the shit hits the fan, though I don’t believe it.
Best laugh I’ve had all day. Thanks.
I don’t know if it would be consistent with US laws governing PAC’s for tanTrump to pay Rudy’s legal bills (though he could pay it out of his own pocket - sorry, I could not avoid it), but recalling Rudy’s behaviour it would be coherent to pay him for his troubles and regarding tanTrump’s modus operandi it would be even more coherent to let him fall like a hot potato. Therefore I guess he will do the latter.
I think it’s worth remembering who Dr. Messonnier’s brother is – Rod Rosenstein:
These siblings were part of the oft-termed “Deep State --” hard working, dedicated civil servants whose first priority was to the nation and the Rule of Law.
Which pissed off the Cheeto-Faced Shit-Gibbon to no end.
Good luck at the Skoll Foundation, Doc !
Can’t grow without dishonest thieving narcissist who only thinks of himself and has at most a few years to live. You guys are in trouble.
Oh don’t worry. Knight in Shining Armour Josh Hawley will come galloping in to save the day.
On a horse that might look similar to him.
Only the rear half.
Why are there so many more horses’ asses than there are horses?
This is not necessarily an untrue statement. It’s the direction the GOP wants to grow that gives me nightmares.
