And not even as useful as a head of lettuce.
Supreme Court to decide Trump immunity claim, further delaying election subversion trial
Hearing to be April 22, which means a trial probably wouldn’t happen before the election.
That sucks.
Sorry, folks. I just realized that this was supposed to be a Happy Schadenfreude-y thread and I posted a downer. I should have posted this elsewhere.
I can’t take it back.
While this involves her son (fine example of upbringing), the best part is her attempt to run away from her current district and be elected from a different safer Republicant district.
“This is the latest episode in Boebert’s tumultuous family life, a reason she cited behind her move to run Colorado’s 4th Congressional District in this upcoming election. She is already far from the favorite to win the seat, finishing fifth in a straw poll last month.”
Family values.
Please tell me there are only four candidates in the race.
Poor kid.
Can we start using the phrase “Boebert Crime Family”?
Crime family implies some sort of organization. These are just the Boeberty Hillbillies.
I agree, it’s not his fault his parents are assholes. It’s hard enough to be raised by normal parents and not end up at least a little screwed up. I think some acting out is to be expected.
Gonna be an interesting day in court. Wonder if Mom and Dad will show up.
Well, they believe in Family Values, so no. Remember, “Zero” is a value!
Maybe they’ll show up and there will be a courtroom brawl! It should be on Pay Per View.
:: golf clap ::
That series would start with Jayson drunkenly trying to shoot one of his neighbors, missing, and discovering oil on his land, which he then tries to drink.
Some acting out?
He’s 18 years old. So, not a town elder, but not a babe in the woods either. Plus, this is not that he fell in with the wrong crowd and became addicted to drugs. Or struggled in school because of dysfunctional home support. Or TP’d the principal’s house.
He chose to participate in a crime spree.
BTW, I’m not delighting in the misery, just pointing out that if an adult son of a politician, albeit a young adult, commits serial felonies, and the aforementioned politician is a law-and-order, “Christian” values oppressor who shits on the marginalized—well, come on. There’s gonna be a few wry smiles and shaking heads, and this is directed at the dickhead mom, not the kid (or should be).
I guess I’m just a bit surprised at some of the “poor kid” stuff. Personally not planning any “Boebert’s kid is going to the slammer” parties, but yeah, I’m amused to the extent this makes Boebert twist in the wind politically.
Is it fair to say that having shitty parents might explain the behavior, but doesn’t excuse it?
So maybe a modicum of sympathy, but the kid (sorry, young adult) still needs to face consequences.
Sure. But I guess my point is that the schadenfreude is actually directed at The Honorable Representative, not the kid. I see nothing unseemly with a reaction of, “How’s that fucking feel, Ms. Law and Order?”
I think a lot of the focus is on the expected hypocrisy of the modern MAGA movement. In that the newly-adult kid has a problem, and that the Law-and-order types (although as this and other threads point out, you can be the right sort of criminal and it’s cred to those folks!) will immediately dismiss it as “kids being kids” as long as it’s white, middle class+ ones doing it. If they’re not white, well then, they’re dangerous gangers to be locked up, forever of course.
Or even worse, they’ll try to flip the narrative, blaming it on bad friends who were brought up as liberals without social values, or Mass Media, or even… SATAN???
( The only oil he’d find on his land would be a trail of lube… )
