This also completely blows me away. The amount of totally uninformed people is incredulous.
But I guess I know one. Never voted in his life “won’t make a difference” uninformed about current events “what can I do”.
Another is bought the Trump bullshit and won’t change his mind. I know it’s hard to admit you were conned by an idiot, but you don’t have to admit anything. I DON’T CARE. Depending on your vote, it may be your last one.
I’m not politically active, but I do stay informed and by god I vote.
Uninformed I can understand. I have relatives who are just not interested in politics or current events. It’s when they refuse to become educated in the basics that I throw up my hands. For example: “I get that you don’t care about Ukraine. But which candidate will allow your sister to have the choices and lifestyle she wants?”
Not true! He has BILLIONS and BILLIONS tied up in real estate. Hell, Mar a Lago on it’s own is worth a cool $1.2B, probably more! His wealth isn’t very liquid.
Weird. I’ve never had an issue accessing the Daily Beast (which I rarely do, to be fair).
The fun part is that Habba is now facing a potential bar complaint in New Jersey on top of the ones she’s facing for letting Weisselberg lie in New York. Another Trump attorney who has ended up needing an attorney of their own. Schadenfreude indeed.
I’m shocked that so many of the Orange Peril’s supporters, acolytes, and lawyers turn out to be unprincipled slimy weasels, and many are ending up in jail and/or disbarred, respectively. Could it be something that they all have in common?
Even Faux News is saying Trump’s net worth is only $2.6 billion… a quarter of what Trump was claiming a few years ago. It’s Schadenfreudey to think that his penalties in his fraud case represent 20% of his net worth.
While it’s possible he actually able to come up with the cash I think it’s very unlikely. He’s admitted to the world that he’s not as wealthy as he said he was. Given his ego, I don’t think he’d make that admission if it were at all possible. In fact, Trump tweeted/truthed that he’d have to sell assets to raise the money. Unless the appeals court gives him a break, Trump’s going to start bleeding pretty soon.
Based on the suit he lost, His whole “empire” is buying something for a dollar – getting a loan for for two dollars with the first “something” as collateral – etc.
Somewhere along the way he forgot you’re supposed to find a rube to be liable for the loans. Convincing a bank to loan you the money isn’t as nice as finding a “partner” to “invest” in your project.
It’ll be like exposing his house of cards to a stiff breeze.
Yes, this would be a lie that makes Trump look stupid and weak, which is the exact opposite purpose of all his other lies.
I think, for once, Trump has had to tell the truth, because physical reality has finally caught up to him. He’s in hock for hundreds of millions of dollars, and it’s to the government this time. He won’t be able to pull some shell game tricks to delay paying this money. If he doesn’t meet the deadline, the government just starts seizing all his shit, which a bank couldn’t do nearly so easily.
I thought about this and about the only reason I could think that he would possibly make this claim if he actually had the money was as part of a scheme to deceive the NY appeals court and get their sympathy to forego or greatly reduce the bond requirement and thereby save millions of dollars.
While Trump trying to commit some sort of deception to avoid consequences would be totally on brand for him, admitting he isn’t loaded with money would be absolute anathema to him. That’s tantamount to admitting he was lying. Something he NEVER does.
